As you know, in every Pokemon game except Battle Revolution, you cannot choose your own trainer character's designs; you must choose from preset ones. With this in mind:

Are you satisfied with the designs of the trainers in the games? Any ones you particularly like or dislike?

If you could design the trainers to be featured in a Pokemon game, what would they look like?

My thoughts? The designs of the playable trainers have varied greatly, from the adorable (female FR/LG) to the somewhat odd (B/W female with her strange shorts with the white things hanging down ("pockets," I guess?)). I haven't liked any of the male trainer designs.

If I were to be in charge of trainer designs:

Male: Black tuxedo with top hat and monocle.
Female: Floral print dress with pantyhose and dress shoes:

I've always been a proponent of more formal trainer designs, as impractical as they may be IRL.

What about your thoughts? (if you have sprites/images of your custom trainers, feel free to post as long as they aren't too large)

You don't like Red or Gold :O
I do agree with the tux and monocle though, very classy.

Well It certainly would be a change of pace, and maybe the story could revolve around being a rich trainer! I might be getting carried away here...
Yeah, I think my favorite design had to be the R/S/E male trainer, Is that his hat or his hair...

I like the idea of formal wear, but maybe not for a whole game, maybe just as a party guest (at like the SS Anne?).

But I loved the male designs for Red, Gold/Ethan, the Emerald guy (Brendan?) and the B/W guy :)

The best girl design is probably May (in Emerald).

I think the rivals get better designs than the protagonists tbh. :P Excluding Bell. I just don't like her, lol. :( But Gary, Silver, Wally, Jun, Cheren, and N are all fantastic looking imo. Never cared much for the protagonists. Gold, Leaf, Black, and White are all okay though.

White is by far my favorite girl character, plus I can pull off her costume very nice!

And I look Black and Red's desgin.

Lucas on Dimond was the worst character I have ever seen though...the hat was too weird!

I liked the simplicity of Red and Leaf. They didn't give them anything too weird so they were liked by the majority of people (well, in my opinion).
I also loved Ethan and Kris. Ethan was made to look like a ten year old. I think his clothes, especially the hat make him look his age which is awesome. I always loved Kris' design but that's just me.
Lyra, Brendan and Lucas' hats bugged me for a while but they grew on me as I got used to them.
I've always found May's hair strange but again, that's just me.
I think I preferred Dawn to May but the scarves in those games always annoyed me when I was running.
I love Touya's character design. His clothes are something I could see myself wearing.
Besides Touko's hair and shorts, I think she's one of the better female characters.

If I could choose how I looked, this would be it:

Credit to Artmage (different forum). She created the sprites for me based on my own artwork.

If I may ask, what is wrong with her shorts?

And I forgot completely about May and Brendan...nothing really stood out to me, plus May's character asking a billion questions a second irked me in the anime.

Sure. :) It's nothing major; I just don't particularly like those spiky things on her shorts. I'm not entirely sure what they are but they seem a little out of place in my opinion. She could have looked much worse though. I'm pretty happy with her overall.

Oh! Okay, when I made my cosplay shorts I figured out what they were. You know those Daisy Duke short shorts? Well the shorts are so tiny that the pocket protrudes underneath and that's what the white spikes are, I'm sure they just made it spikey because it looks cooler to them.

    Thanks for answering :)

I haven't liked any of the female characters at all, so despite being female I almost feel compelled to choose the male characters sometimes. Depends on how much I can tolerate the female design of the particular game. I think diamond and pearl was the only exception where I found the female character lookes less silly than the male but it was still a tough choice. I'm quite frankly sick of seeing female player characters in skirts or shorts above the knees (and usually far up the thighs). It would be nice to have one once in a while that wore a longer bottom garment.

I like most of them - Gold and Brendan are my favourite males and Leaf and May are my favourite females :)

A tuxedo isn't a bad idea, but it certainly isn't comfortable or efficient travel wear. :P

I don't mind the character designs. If I could change it, I would probably use the Backpacker or AceTrainer sprites.

Are you satisfied with the designs of the trainers in the games? Any ones you particularly like or dislike?: Kind of, yes. I like the Ace/Cool Trainers in particular.

If you could design the trainers to be featured in a Pokemon game, what would they look like?: I think we need scuba diver trainer classes, just to see what underwater battles would be like.

I really think GF has done a solid job with the player characters, up until B/W. Gold and Lucas would have to be my favorites, their designs really seem to embody what going on a journey is all about.
So I'm quite content with most of the playable character's designs.

I'd like a Brunette character with a hat sort of like Holt from Fossil Fighters has. I'm pretty content with the playable characters, so it's not as if
I'm absolutely dying to have a character like the one described above implemented in the game.

I usually go along with the character designs they provide and then I build my own personality for that character. I like it this way :3 Though it would be cool if you could design your own character.

I'd like my character to have jeans, work boots, a short sleeve shirt and a back pack since you're climbing mountains and exploring caves. A tux is not good attire for spelunking.

I don't like that there are only two designs per game. I'd like a few varieties of outfits to choose from, maybe like three options each for the boy and girl. Mainly because I'd like to play as a female character that doesn't have the really impractical (and too much pink) clothing that most of the designs have.

Ditto this, give us choice. Not ever girl likes to have a near-naked bottom half.
