Anime Lucky Dip

It's your lucky day! Welcome to the first Anime Lucky Dip.

This event works very similarly to the old Anime Contract Challenge, however instead of being partnered, you're putting your entertainment in the hands of RNGesus. When you join the event, you also PM me 2-3 anime titles that will be put into a pool. Each person is then allocated a show to watch by RNG.

There's no obligation to finish the series you watch. The only requirement is to watch a couple of episodes before the event closes at least. Then, at the event's close, share your thoughts on the series here. Sign-ups will last roughly a week, the event then closes on the 23rd of September, so there's plenty of time to get a few episodes in at least (although you're welcome to finish your show if you can).

So, how do you join? Easy. You just post saying you want in and then PM me with the shows you want to add to the RNG pool.

This sounds like fun, I'm in!
One questions though, what happens when a lot of people suggest the same shows? That could lead to a lot of people watching the same thing, or even someone getting the same show they suggested.
Or what happens if someone gets a show they've already watched?

With my luck I'll probably get something with like 300 episodes lol.
I'll PM the shows I want to suggest later!

If I get the same show more than once I'll just ask for a new suggestion. If you've seen it already you can either do a rewatch or request a re-roll.

I've seen mine and not too long ago since it's a new enough series, so it's still fresh in my mind! Can I please get a reroll? ❤️

Thumbs up to whoever suggested The Promised Neverland! It has a killer OP and it's been on my shortlist of things to watch ever since I heard it. Probably going to jump into it as soon as I get home from work tonight!

So I looked up some info about Higurashi no Naku koro ni... I had heard it by name but for some reason I always thought it was a completely different genre from what it seems to be, so I'm intrigued.
Probably because of the "cute" artstyle.

Definitely not something I would have looked up on my own so that's nice, about to watch the first episode.

Episode 6 of Yona here. Being a shoujo/harem, I never would've picked it up, but the characters so far feel like real people and the politics plot is very interesting. I'm pleasantly surprised.

Just watched episode 3 of Higurashi. I'm liking it quite a lot, the anime doesn't sugarcoat what it is straight from the beginning, which makes all the cutesy art and comedy gags in other scenes somewhat disturbing instead of 'funny'. It's not my first "cutesy art and dark story" anime, but I feel like this one takes a sligthly different approach; instead of going for the shock value it almost uses the art style(which I admit I would have found offputting by looking at it out of context) as part of the way to make you doubt characters and keep the suspence up to create a surreal atmosphere.
I'm not sure how to descrive it but I'm liking it a lot, will definitely watch this to the end.
I've also noticed that it likes to nonchalantly throw things at you to leave you wondering, like details on certain character's clothes/faces, which leave you with a sense of "wait, did he/she really just do X? And no one found it weird?"
I love anime that like to sneak a ton of foreshadowing/symbolism right from the beginning so that's a huge plus.
Oh, and the opening is really cool. Reminds me of Kalafina somewhat.

At the end of this I'm going to talk your ear off about Higurashi. It's straight up my favourite anime. I'm glad you like it!

Made it through the first six episodes of The Promised Neverland. While I'm not as big of a fan of the story as I had hoped, and the pacing seems to jump around a little bit, I love how well the characters are really well written, and I think a lot of them work really well with each other. I also like that there are a few twists here and there that keep you guessing where the story is heading, and it's fun to see some of the characters pushed outside of their comfort zone, and how they react to certain situations.

And like I said earlier, the OP is amazing (probably one of my favorites now), and it always pumps me up right before the start of a new episode.
