  • Ultra Moon Update 1

Started off and chose litten (I won't be able to get my first pokemon until the trainer's school). Tried to avoid as many trainers as possible because I wanted to use them to train grimer when I get it. Hau was very easy to beat both in first battle and the festival. Got to the trainer's school and started searching for grimer. It took some time and a lot of annoying meowths before I found one and caught it.Boxed litten and went back to train grimer. The great typing of alolan grimer had made it a lot more usable. I beat the students and teacher in trainer school and went on. Ilima was able to defeat me the first time using leer by yungoos and finishing off by smeargle. Went straight back for another one and just started using harden. Maxed out defence, used a potion and swept his team. Caught a cutiefly on route 2. It made the trail and grand trail a piece of cake. Took out totem raticate in 2 fairy winds and dealt with Hala pretty easily as well.
The first tough trail I faced came on Brooklet hill. Here, cutiefly was nearly useless despite of having absorb because 1. Absorb is really weak, 2. Totem araquanid isn't even weak to it. Apart from that, that thing's bubble hits like a tank. So, I decided to go with brute force against it, i.e. grimer. Started of with poison fang and got it badly poisoned on the second turn ( It was the last turn before grime fainted). Used revive on grimer straight away and healed it completely. Cutiefly fainted and grimer finished the job. After the trail, it took a long time to encounter a wishiwashi. At the moment, I'm heading towards Wela Volcano Park.

  • Ultra Moon Update 2

Kiawe's trail was a very easy one, wishiwashi was able to finish it with a little help of grimer. I evolved cutiefly before Mallow's trail. This one took some time as the ally comfey kept on healing the lurantis while it was also using synthesis. But once it's synthesis was done, the trail finished quickly. Wishiwashi was enough for Olivia and after defeating her, we went to Aether paradise. There again wishiwashi made quick work of nihilego and we moved to Ula'ula island.
The match with Hau was a hard one and I had to use revive multiple times, but at the I was able to scrap through to victory. The next trail on Mount Hokulani was going to be a hard one(or so I thought) as I had no pokemon or move for matter that would take out the totem togedemaru. First of all, I went on to get my fourth teammate in minior. Found a couple who self-destructed, so the next one I found , I went straight for the ultra ball and caught it. But still none of my pokemon were going to be very good against the totem togedmaru. Wishiwashi and minior were weak to it and ribombee and grimer wouldn't be able to do much as well. So, I went on to grind and evolve grimer as muk would be able to deal out decent damage. Went on for the trail which, surprisingly, my muk dealt with all alone. I started off using minimize and maxed out evasiveness. Apart from the first iron head, togedemaru wasn't able to touch muk while it's ally skarmory got a couple of steel wings. All was for nothing beacause togedemaru went down with some crunches. Defeated Guzma in the garden and went on for the next trail. Ribombee broke through mimikyu's disguise and muk was able to finish it off. Went back to Blush mountain and caught a togedemaru. Right now, I'm in Po Town.

  • Ultra Moon Final Update

Cleared through Po Town easily, headed back to Aether house to find Lillie gone. Defeated Nanu and moved on to Aether Paradise. Finished the work to be do in Aether paradise and headed to Poni island. There, Hapu became the kahuna. Went to exeggutor island for the moon flute and caught my last pokemon, Alolan Exeggutor there. Won the penultimate trail against Kommo-O. Summoned Lunala, Necrozma appeared, fused with it and went away. Went to magalopolis to deafeat necrozma. Again won against it thanks to muk poisoning it before falling, and after that togedemaru stalling a bit with spiky shield. Went on to win Mina's trail and the pokemon league.
At the end, I would like to mention my pokemon according to how important yhey have been.
Muk was without doubt the best in my team. It was able to take quite some hits before going down and definitely dealt massive damage. It wasn't able to do much against Molayne and Olivia in the elite four, but apart from that, it was the one doing most of the work.
Togedemaru and Ribombee have been very important in my team. Ribombee made the early part a bit easy and was very useful later on too, but I would give Togedemaru a bit of an edge as it made the elite four very easy for me.
Wishiwashi would come just below Ribombee, just because I didn't used it much, but whenever it was used it was able to one shot most opponents.
Minior had it's moments, just a few, but it had.
Exeggutor was really not very useful. I think by the time I got it, my team was already well built and going well, apart from that, it didn't bring anything new to the team (except for a 4x weakness to ice).

    Part 1

I've been slowly taking down this run because of other matters and gen 4 in general being a slog, but I'm still excited about it. I decided to hack my rom and make Ponyta the starter (Seeing as it's a really late catch that I wouldn't get after 8 badges otherwise). Ponyta's starting moveset isn't the best but it carries until level 10, where it finally learns Ember. Upon reaching Violet City, I immediately turn south and catch a Mareep. As a consequence of this, the Falkner fight went smoothly, with Mareep sweeping his team with Thunder Shock.

I head down through Route 32, where Mareep evolves and Ponyta learns Flame Wheel. That combine with its high Attack stat made Bugsy's fight pretty trivial too. In the Ilex Forest I caught an Oddish to use as HM bearer and taught Ponyta Headbutt so I could catch my next member: Noctowl (You can get those at a level as low as 6 in this place apparently).

On the way to Goldenrod I leveled up my members to a reasonable level for the next gym. Started by using 2 Flame Wheels on the Clefairy, which brought it down, and sacrificing Ponyta against the Miltank for a slight chance to burn. It didn't work, but when I brought Flaaffy out its Static paralyzed the murder cow. She healed with the Lum Berry, but in that same turn I had used Thunder Wave (outplayed!). It took a few turns to chip it down but with it paralyzed everything was much easier. Ended the battle with only Noctowl alive with 3 health after firing off the last Uproar.

After this gym I was able to get my last three members in a short burst. Caught the Sudowoodo that was blocking the path to Ecruteak, then headed west of the city for a Miltank, and traveled all the way to Olivine to fish a Krabby. I did all of this before challenging the Ghost gym, so I trained them all to be on par with Morty. I led the fight against him with Sudowoodo and one shot Gastly with Feint Attack. Gengar was next and brought me down with a Shadow Ball. I sent out Miltank and began to use Rollout, knowing Gengar couldn't do anything to it. After a couple of Rollouts the Gengar was dead, and so were both Haunters after due to this very balanced move. Murder cow gets the win!
