Guys, how do i enter Blaine's and Erika's gyms? For Blaine when i try clicking the keys he left on the table in the mansion nothing happens... And if i try cutting the tree in Celadon (the one before the gym) the cutter guy does not appear... What am i doing wrong? The only thing i might have missed is the Mewtwo rematch but i don't understand how it might be related to the Celadon tree, for example
Any tips? Thank you in advance!

For Blaine's gym, you have to use the Crowbar (There's no hint on this, you just had to remember you could do that).

I don't know about the cutting sailor (or whatever his name was, I haven't played in a while), maybe try checking every cuttable tree in Kanto and see if he eventually pops up in Celadon after he permanently cuts down a tree. I don't know how the cutting sailor works, I'm just trying to troubleshoot.

The Mewtwo rematch I never looked into because I stopped playing after looking around through most of Kanto after my playthrough. It's probably unrelated because I remember getting all the badges without a rematch with Mewtwo.

I just finished the game today so I just came to share some feedback.

Mt. Moon Red: Just my opinion, but I don't think Red should be that difficult to defeat.

Pokemon Day Care: The day care is a big part of every Pokemon game so I'm not a fan of how it's just entirely disabled because I mean morality aside, if I'm a Rocket, shouldn't I have access to Rocket resources even at the lowest level? Maybe even making it have a bonus since I'm a Rocket, like faster egg production or hatched Pokemon or Nature specific Pokemon. Different bonuses for different Ranks or something.

Fishing Rods: Is it possible to even obtain a Fishing Rod? I played as a Rocket that stole some Pokemon but I always cleared my bounty. I did wonder what all is given to you as rewards by the thief grunt but I could find no other way of actually obtaining a Fishing Rod playing this way, making it even more difficult to obtain certain Pokemon. I tried telling the Master Guru or whatever the secrets and I tried not telling him.

Bounty: After you obtain an item from each Police Officer, it seems to be impossible to clear your bounty afterwards?

Mewtwo: It did feel a bit ridiculous how I managed to get Mewtwo down to red health and put it to sleep but I still couldn't capture it.

Ending: Despite being a crime boss, I had no resources to avoid jail time? Bill doesn't even help me even though he was begging for my help and I believe he said that he ensured witnesses remained silent about something else?[/QU]

Ik this reply is late but I wanted to .

Mewtwo has always been this difficult to catch . In every game . Either you can be lucky enough to 1 ball it or get through more than 50 balls before catching it .

The day care is one of the main flaws of vanilla Fire Red . You literally can't breed until post game . The cerulean daycare accepts only 1 pokemon at a time . The better daycare is in the seveii islands that you access after beating the league and getting national dex

Bill is actually a weirdo in this game . A smart weirdo . One moment he curses u for defeating him, the other he asks u to help him . He helps u defeat Oak and Red but doesn't help u in court .

In the end cutscene, it is revealed that he stole Oak's Red-making-machine and is using it with Prof. Elm to create the soon-to-be Gold . That is why he got the others to stay quiet and not speak up and reveal the machine in the court . He probably let us serve jail time so we couldn't interfere, as we were strong enough to defeat the machine's previous product . Despite this, I would like a sequel where the Bailed out Protoagonist somehow adventures through Johto to defeat Gold

Thanks for creating the game, I do feel though there's definitely a gap in the potential story endings. As this game is based around the bad guys, the person who will play should have a chance and beating the Elite 4 again like in Pokemon Fire Red but they can keep their crown and stay in power.

Thank you! The Toxic Purple vibe is absolutely what I'm going for, and it is what got me into ROM hacking as well: I swear, I kept checking ckret2's profile on a semi-regular basis for about four years straight, just on the off chance that she might come back (spoiler: she didn't). I guess we could think of this hack as just a natural consequence of me eventually getting fed up with waiting for Toxic Purple updates.

Please make it a series I need Rocket edition 2, 3, 4 with additional features... Best Pokémon hack I ever played after Unbound(Better because it has more options EV training IV and nature changes etc) add more to your hack please Me and my friends love it

Going to reply to each of these in order.

Mt. Moon Red: You're not supposed to beat him. You're supposed to lose to him. The story continues on if you lose to him, or if you beat him. You're just not supposed to beat him.

Pokemon Day Care: The Pokemon are being badly abused in the Daycare to the point where even a Rocket Grunt wouldn't leave his Pokemon there.

Fishing Rods: Yeah, you can't fish in this game, but you can find all the Water Pokemon in this game either by stealing them or by Surfing for them. I used a revived Omanyte/Omastar and a stolen Gyarados as my Water Pokemon.

Bounty: That is possible. I didn't bother with the Bounties. F the police!

Mewtwo: I mean, he is Mewtwo after all. False Swipe and Ultra Balls. Just keep at it.

Ending: That did get me. It took that old geezer to get me out? The Rockets, Bill, Blue, nobody was willing to help me?

  • Also, I've seen in a few posts earlier that the game is getting updated with a female playable character. Can somebody please explain what else is being added in this update?

I know it's out, but...anyone know what else is there to the hack?

A bit sad that nobody responded to me 😐.

I'm not sure where you heard all of that, but the creator, colonelsalt isn't doing any more updates on the game. And even though the ending made a sequel obvious, there's no guarantee we'll be getting that either. I think he also explicitly said he wasn't going to have a playable female character because it goes against the story he wanted to tell.

    Hey Sun and Moon!

Are you following the discord at all?

We don't know what will be added, but there is an update planned for sometime this year.

Just take a look at the discord announcement.

    Have a good day.

So you thought you knew the story of FireRed...
    Introduction
Play as a member of Team Rocket!

In Pokémon FireRed: Rocket Edition, you will cheat, lie and steal your way to the top as you engage with the thriving gang scene of the Kanto region. Featuring a story that takes place at the same time as the original FireRed, Rocket Edition will play with your expectations and allow you to experience the classic story from a whole new perspective. Along your journey, you will unravel secret conspiracies, explore a side of Kanto you've never seen before, engage with familiar characters in unfamiliar situations – and, most importantly: steal their Pokémon!
    Story brief
One fateful morning in Pallet Town, a newborn hero takes his first steps along his journey to becoming a Pokémon Master. With a love for Pokémon battle, and a burning desire to be the very best, he takes on the region's Gym Leaders, and eventually conquers the Pokémon League. A well-trodden tale if there ever was one… but it is far from the whole story.

Behind Red's seemingly simplistic Pokémon adventures lies a darker, more sinister plot – one that its original hero never hears of, but which holds significance for both him and the fate of the Kanto region. Sociopathic scientists, revenge-hungry nurses and corrupt Gym Leaders are just a few of the characters who show their true colors once Red turns his back, and the very people who appeared most friendly and considerate through his naïve eyes may in fact be secretly harboring the most malicious of intentions.

What is the connection between Lance, Giovanni and Professor Oak? What exactly happened during the Great Pokémon War? How was the mysterious Mewtwo created? Not to mention: what is the fate of the hundreds of Trainers Red so ruthlessly defeat? The answers lie in the story behind the story, and it begins deep in Kanto's criminal underworld…
    Features
    • Steal Pokémon from every single Trainer in the game. Unlike other Team Rocket-based hacks, Rocket Edition allows you to steal a Pokémon from every single Trainer in the game once you've defeated them in battle. As you rise up the ranks of Team Rocket, you will gain the opportunity to steal from more and more Trainer classes.
    • Experience the true story behind Red's adventures. The game's story runs parallel to the original FireRed, revealing hidden secrets about what goes on in the Kanto region when Red is not around. Incorporating numerous popular fan theories about the Pokémon universe, Rocket Edition presents an original take on the classic FireRed narrative that is filled with twists and surprising revelations.
    • Engage well-known characters in Pokémon battle. All of the significant characters from the original game make their appearance in Rocket Edition, and many of them will challenge you to battle as well. Depending on your rank within Team Rocket, you may even be able to steal one of their Pokémon for yourself!
    • Morality system and branching sidequests. Although you are a Rocket, you are free to choose whether to play it nice or to go out on a villainous rampage – the game will reward you for either. Many of Kanto's citizens, innocents and criminals alike, will request your help for independent criminal missions, offering additional perks and bonus items. Whom you decide to help and whom you decide to double-cross may turn out to have far-reaching consequences as your journey continues...
    • Gen. VI-style mechanics and presentation. Courtesy of MrDollSteak's patch, the Fairy type, the modern physical/special split, and attacks from generations IV, V and VI are all present in Rocket Edition. Proper names of Trainers, Pokémon and locations have all been decapitalized in the style of the modern games as well.
    • Overall improved interface and gameplay. Run – inside or outside – from the very start of the game, or use the HM for Fly at your leisure from the moment you step outside. Encounter rates in caves and in water have been significantly reduced, and the player faces every challenged Trainer before battle.

    Downloads
(Note that registered Pokécommunity members may also download the newest playable version from the attachment at the bottom of this post.)

    • Rocket Edition Completed Version v1.0.2
Released: April 9th, 2020 (minor dialogue edit July 11th 2021)
Notes: The game ends shortly after the credits roll. Save files from all earlier betas are compatible with this release. Recommended emulators: VBA-M (Windows) and MyBoy (Android).
      Known bugs:

      • The player's surfing sprite can occasionally appear buggy. Refreshing the screen (opening/closing the menu or entering a building) solves the issue.
      • Using Fly against a Koffing or Weezing in battle may cause the game to crash.

Please note that Rocket Edition is a hack of "1636 Pokemon Fire Red (U)(Squirrels)" – trying to apply the patch to any other version of the game will not work.

Check out Poli's Rocket Edition guide for details on evolving trade-evolved Pokémon and where to find special items.

Never played a Pokémon ROM hack before? Check out this video for instructions on how to play. (I recommend that you use Lunar IPS to patch your ROM file.)

  • Which elemulator work well with this?

In the original post, it mentions that "VBA-M (Windows) and MyBoy (Android)" are the recommended versions. I used VBA-M on an old Mac (2015) and it still worked as intended.

Also, you don't have to reply to the original post to make your post.

Just click on the most recent post below the name of the hack, scroll down a little, and then hit "Post" to make you post so you don't take up a lot of space.
