  • Hmm I wish people would rate my map, three posts up, oh and there may be no errors, but your map(person above me) is way too complicated, you thought it over a little too much. I give it a 8, I would give an 7, but there are absolutely no errors, but there are a lot of factors that make the map look weird, like the path and the many cliffs for instance

Comments: I tried to make everything perfect. Grass, tree shadows etc. It took me over 1,5 hours to make.

What the hell are you people talking about? I see PLENTY of errors. I'm not even going to bother counting how many tree shadow errors there were. Another large supplier of tile errors would be the water; the way you used those rocks on the border of the darker water creates little crescents of light water which I consider to be an error. Although, you have placed the rocks in a very natural way. BUT, at the same time, I think there are too many of them. Hm, you mixed up the grass tiles which is nice although I'm not sure if that's from precise mapping or laziness in leaving the original grass there :\ Nice block edits behind the red house ;) The cliffs are decent but they're still straight in some places and there are some (debatable) tile errors when you use the corner tiles in certain places (it's hard to explain). Meh, there's not much else to say about this map. It's not terrible (I've seen MUCH worse) but it's not exceptional either. Take a look at this tutorial for correct tree shading use. And, just to be sure, take a couple minutes to examine some maps from FR/LG to make sure you completely understand how it's done.
And an hour and a half isn't very long at all to make a map. I don't mean to brag but each of my maps usually takes several weeks to make. Mapping skill is not based upon how quickly you can map, but how beautifully you can map. Keep that in mind ;)

Eh, I dont have a good sense of editing, so from now on I am not going to mention there being no errors
Also, it may be different but I have a gym inside a cave, which may be the first i really do not know, so here it is since it is being ignored and avoided, oh and I do not know how to make it a mapshot so someone tell me, the mountain button does not work and I do not want to use a link to another site or whatever you would call it.
Oh and it took me about two hours, I made it in ten minutes, it was really simple, and then my best friend came over and him and I worked on it for a total of 2 hours on it, roughly anyway, gyms do not take long but they are the only exception for maps

To get a full reading I want to see the lower level.

But with just this I would give it a 7-7.5

I give it this since it looks like fun maze yet it looks impossible unless you go down the ladder which would defeat the purpose of the maze unless I am mistaken.

i just realized I was using the slide tile not the break tile, oops lol!
I am going to work thorougly to devise a puzzle where you slide all over the place, the gym leader will now be in the second level and I will post both the top and bottome maps, hopefully rising to atleast a 9, that is good enough for me any day, a 9, anything below that cannot be in my hack lol
I will have the other two parts later, but this is the main so just grade like it was the only map, oh and the brock sprite is going to change, just ignore it

Nice! 7/10, I noticed some tile errors and the two different big trees don't look right to me. Still, it's a pretty good map.

Comments: I took off on Natural Sense because the trees are clumped in spots, yet very scattered in others. It looks weird. You did a very nice job for the tiles that you used, and to be honest, I'm not very fond of those tree tiles in Fire Red. I'm not rating according to that, so well done. I didn't see any tile errors, although quite frankly, I'm crazy tired right now and I may have missed some, if there is any. The map shape is good, but in the top right corner it's square, took off for that. This map is rather difficult to play, but because it is a forest, I didn't take much off.

Comments: Well, I have to say I really like this map. The mountains are shaped really oddly and vegetation is rather scarce. So natural sense is where you lost most points. Love the house tiles, and they are used very well. Each of the houses differ slightly from each other. As I said before, I'm really tired and my eyes are bad now, so I may have missed some tile errors, but I didn't see any now. You really only lost points on map shape because of the mountains. They're just awkward. Playability is fine, the player is never obstructed at all really.

Comments: Really well done route. The trees are placed quite well, although you still seem to favor the diagonal placement over the straight placement. There should be a balance of the two, I think. You could have placed a few more rocks here and there. I didn't spot any tile errors. The shape is wonderful. There are a few spots where the player has only one path to walk on. Overall, great map. I like it.

Why the Heck? Well, like I told you on MSN, the mountains are too complex. I told you the rest already, yadda, yadda, yadda. I also think there's too much free spacez. D:

Why the heck? Well, for starters, the mountains don't really seem to fit, they just look out of place, or something to me. The trees are placed in an...alright way, I guess. The border trees are a little(or lot) too straight, but the rest of the look like they're placed in a good fashion. The grass to me looks way to splotchy, and it needs to be evened out more, instead of being in clumps, you know? I really like the water, and lily pads, looks very nice. The fence around/beside the water gives it a nice feel as well. The extras(Flowers, and what not) are placed nicely, but I think you could use some more. You have a good amount of flowers, but the rest seems kinda dwindling. I really like the way the ledges give the map a sloping feel, real nice. Overall, this map's lacking features, and the shape isn't perfecte.
    Overall 5/10; C-

Why the Heck? Well first off, this map looks kinda average at first glance, but it's not. The trees are really placed good, and the shape is quite nice. The wild grass is placed nicely, it's spread evenly, and it's not clumpy. The little extra flower-ish things seem to be placed...erm...oddly, I guess. There is quite a few of them, but they are all in clumps of three or so, and that just looks...err...bad-ish. Also, this map seems to just be lacking something, I don't know what, but something to give it a little flavor, or something, ya dig? There's also an issue with too much empty space, but I'm starting to warm up to that, so meh.
    Overall 6/10; C+

    Map 2

    Shape D
    Tile Usage/Placement C-
    Emptiness D-
    Complexity D
Why the Heck? Well, I'm sorry to say, but I really don't think this map is one of your better ones, Ninja Caterpie. The first thing that hits me is the extreme emptiness. A little empty space is okay, you know, for moving around, and NPC's and what ever else you might need it for, but this, this is taking that to the extreme. Half of this map is plain grass tile(Exaggeration xD), which turns me off, very much so. You could fill the empty space with trees, extra tiles, whatever. Hell, you could have even added another house or two. Okay, now that I have that over with, we can move on the tree shape. The tree shape is...lacking, to say the least. The map looks like a giant funnel, towards the bottom, and that is definantly not appealing. Besides that, the bottom of the map is pretty much symmetrical, which is also a turn-off. Try to maybe make the trees give the map a rounder feel by smoothing them out, and rounding the shape of them a bit, k? The path is...bad, I guess. It's very wide, which has always been a turn-off to me, for some reason, and it's very straight, on top of that. The flowers are placed kinda awkward. They're all kinda centralized to one area of the map, and they're placed in a row of sorts, try to spread them out a bit more. The buildings, houses, and what not are all placed decently, so you did good there. Remember not to take my ratings too harshly, k?
    Overall 3/10; D
