Lance is evil, he was my only problem, I had to use Pressure to defeat his last Pokemon and about 15 Revives and Full Restores/Hyper Potions.

I wanted to see the team rocket grunts' levels higher and more (higher leveled as well) rival battles. The ones at mt. moon and dragon's den don't count

Would have loved to see a lot more Rockets + Events regarding them. Did like Lyra's Rocket outfit though :) Would have been nice to have a sort of customization as far as what outfits you can buy and wear. Also I miss the Contests, the Pokéathlon is fun and all, but still prefered the contests.

BTW: Who is this Leaf character? What game is she from, and where is she? If someone would be kind enough to fill me in.

I'm only at the 7th gym, but I wish the pokemon levels were higher. All my pokemon are mid 30s and it just feels weird being so low levelled. :/

I thought that at least for the purpose of the E4, they had the levels kept under control pretty well. Sure, it stayed low, but you weren't exactly overpowered at the League, were you? And Jasmine didn't have a level 40-something Steelix, thank goodness. After that though, the level stayed too low. I'd have been ecstatic if Blue was in the 75-85 range. There's just such a disparity between Red and Blue. It makes sense, I suppose, but it's really unusual for Pokemon.

I would have liked to see them jack up the amount of story for Kanto, like restricting your access more or something so you actually had to travel along some of the routes. I had to look up where Suicune's last pre-battle appearance was on Serebii, it was so bad. Also, I'm still annoyed that they still keep you out of the Lavender Radio Tower, Mr. Fuji's supposed catacombs and Silph (Admittedly, it was pretty funny. Before you fix the power the guard says it won't work, and afterward it says there's a risk of electrocution. It's kind of "Ahahahahaokay stop it"). Kanto's much better, but it's not excellent.

There's some other minor things, but they're so obscure and minor I can't remember what they are right now. HGSS is great, but it hasn't really replaced Platinum, just like FRLG didn't replace Emerald.

^this. you can not compare awesomeness (HG/SS, FR/LG) to a pile of garbage with garbage looking pokemon (DPPt, RSE)

I fixed your comment for you. While DPP was worthless from not only a Pokemon standpoint and storyline standpoint, RSE brought way too much into the game (Emerald specifically) to be considered - best starter, Secret Bases, Contests, Battle Frontier, Berries, and more.

They should have added the orange islands. with the touch screen you could do the gym challenges. and it would have been cool to catch the crystal onix :) but yeah i guess that was just too much to put into the game.

Also change up the battle frontier a bit, its like 100% recycled from DPPt.

    by the way RSE sucked

hmm best starter? was it the grass one or the water one?, secret bases were a dumb waste of time, contests were stupid wastes of space, the battle frontier sucks because the only good thing there is the battle tower and even then i dont want to spend my life getting to 100 trainers in one go, and finally berries? ha! RSE screwed up the best thing in pokemon: berries that grow themselves. So as i said before RSE is garbage

anywho back on topic im really glad they didnt put in suckish items like the poketch or the pokeradar however the i think the vs seeker should be obtained after you beat Red (you beat him, he says nothing, leaves (escape rope or walks out), and then it says "oh whats this?" and then you find it)

I really never liked the Battle Frontier for some reason... I hate battling without gaining exp XD
The only thing I was dying to see was bedroom customization, but I can live without it

Swampert is the best starter. Not only does it have the best Typing, but it also has advantageous stats that take advantage of it. Sceptile is also one of the best starters, but just doesn't have the advantages that Swampert does.

Secret Bases are definitely not a waste of time if you know the advantages of them. For example, when you mix records with another RSE cart, the Secret Base of that cart shows up on your own, and whatever Pokemon where in the party of that cart at the time are available for you to battle either once a day, or once every time you mix records. I would have 6 Lv100 Blissey with no offensive moves in one cart, mix records, and then be able to battle them and gain 5464 Exp Points for each one, 8196 Exp Points for each if your Pokemon is traded or holding a Lucky Egg, and 12,294 Exp Points for each one if your Pokemon is traded AND holding a Lucky Egg. That is inbetween 32,784 and 73,764 Exp Points in about 10 minutes. Include 5 Pokemon that are holding Exp Share and it makes it even that much more invaluable.

I agree that Contests are dumb and I never participated in them, but to many fans the Contests were great and many are disappointed that HGSS does not include them. It brought a new element to the game that continued long after the storyline had ended.

Like MikeJahns, just saying something "sucks" isn't much of an explanation as to why you don't like something, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. The Battle Frontier though was a terrific addition and gave users a glimpse of competitive battling, although it was still quite lacking in some areas and the AI typically resorted to cheating in order to win more often than sound strategy. I am anxious to try out the SS BF to see what improvements, if any, have been made.

I am not a big fan of the actual growing of the berries, but the process itself was incredibly beneficial. The main addition in Emerald that was so great was having berries #21-26 not only lower EVs of a specific stat by 10 (which is incredible in of itself), but it also increased the Happiness value of the Pokemon you feed it to. Not to mention the many berries that became staples in competitive battling. Being able to plant them and then multiply them was invaluable. I for one will be trading over all my berries to SS once I am able to. Sadly, in HGSS you only have a Berry Pot that limits you to 4 berries spots, but at least that is better than relying on finding them randomly.

    Also, nothing really.
I like Lyra more than Kris(by faaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrr) and I never cared for all that storyline crap.

No, it's 15% recycled from DP. It's 90% recycled from Pt.

Also, I said that no need for Orange Islands, it was for anime and manga (and that's a big if) only. We don't like them, really, and if you want them, play a hack, Pokemon Naranja.

And, RSE was, by far, one of THE BEST Pokemon games ever made.

The only thing I wish it had was the 50% shiny Odd Egg.

    Spoiler:

Oh, yes. I loved the egg. Wasn't it 50% in JP and 12.5% everywhere else? I never got a shiny from that egg... wah. But I love it.

What is the Odd Egg? ^^; Never heard of it

It's an egg in Crystal that has a high chance of being a Shiny Baby Pokemon. It's given by the DayCare people.

and RSE did suck. Berries were nice, but G/S/C invented to concept of a plant that grew something on it (apricorns) so RSE can't be credited for that really. The only thing I liked that was introduced with RSE was abilities, natures, and double battles. The rest introduced in RSE is worthless, unless you really like in-game contests, but I'm speaking competitively. Compared to the second generation, which added held items, genders, breeding, shiny Pokemon, PokeRus, etc., RSE is crap.

But this isn't an RSE vs G/S/C thread :P

I'd like to have seen Kris in-game; the backsprite and trainer card sprite of Lyra is cute, but the overworld is terrible.

Also would have liked to see higher wild Pokemon levels. I'm 44 training on 22s. Not working well.
