The console will be able to stream games to the controller screens and, interestingly, the report speculates that the power of the console could allow for it to provide a "virtualized console for each individual unit". We assume this means multiple users could each be playing a game on the controller screen - possibly even different and entirely unrelated games, via a single console.
It reports that manufacturing will be handled by Taiwanese firm Foxconn, which is expected to make its first shipments of the console in October. This, is says, puts its street release at mid-October or early November. Again, the report speculates that Nintendo may hold off on its release until early 2012 in order to amass a large stockpile of units and give developers more time with launch titles.
On the topic of tech specs, IGN backs up previous reports that it'll pack a "revamped version of AMD's R700 GPU architecture, not AMD's Fusion technology as previously believed," and will outperform PS3's NVIDIA 7800GTX-based processor.
It also says the console's CPU is a custom-built triple-core IBM PowerPC chipset much like the Xbox 360 but with a higher clock rate. It will be capable of pumping out 1080p visuals with the possibility of stereoscopic 3D support, but it's not thought to be a staple feature.
Looks-wise, the source says it'll be similar in size to the original Xbox 360, but will apparently "resemble a modernized version of the Super Nintendo (SNES)."
