    Why is audino so rare?
    Why is Audino so rare?

Come to think of it, you know that Audino is like the most elusive pokemon ever, right? You can't really find it by ordinary methods, you have to lay in wait (or rather, move a lot back and forth, but the process still requires time and effort which is what I am getting at), and eventually, with any luck it shows up in those lovely white and pink colors.

We all know that pokemon are all about survival of the fittest, which is why eventually reached the conclusion to change their ways and evolve in order to survive. Why is it then, that Audino is so rare, as it clearly is rather well-shaped and all?

I was wondering about this in my normal-every day ways while hanging out on the chat when suddenly the subject of eyes turned up.

    <Forever> my eyes are green
    <Sewaddle> My eyes are gray-blue.
<Lala> my eyes should be pink
... and then all the pieces matched.

What would pink eyes otherwise equal? A lack of pigment in the skin, usually reflecting itself in a white/pink skin-tone, making you very vulnerable to the rays of the sun, in other words, if this happened to you, be prepared to stay inside for a good while, as the sun will murder you.

Oh, and then there is the name. What skin condition has a name that sounds extremely similar to the name Audino?

Yeah, you guessed it right. Everyone welcome Audino, the Albino pokemon. This is why it has the bland color scheme it has, this is why it spends a lot of time hidden in tall grass due to the sun damaging it if it ever decides to stop hiding, this is why it carries oran and sitrus berries to heal hp lost from sun damage, this is why it is so damned rare.

No wonder it is visible from the outside when running up and down in front of grass unlike other pokemon, it doesn't blend in with its "natural surroundings" at all.

..regardless, what do you think of this theory? Oh, and if you have any similar "EUREKA" moments pray tell about it, that'd be wonderful.

yes I know audino has blue eyes but it could be wearing lenses ok

Maybe they've learned to adapt to everything killing them for easy food/experience? xD

I think that Audino hides because it has no real battle potential and if it ever comes out of hiding, it would be killed almost instantly by hunters and such. :P

I always thought they were hidden partially because they don't have any real battle potential against other Pokemon, but also because of their hunted status by trainers due to experience. xD; I also held the belief that they were just terrible at being wild Pokemon, unlike the others who knew how to hide in grass, so they always stumbled through it like a drunken slob because they didn't know how to sneak quietly to avoid detection.

...I think Audino live underground in Nurse Joy facilities, where they're being trained to know how to do mass healing (Heal Pulse) and have giant berry farming systems underground. Though, they're clueless and unfortunately and blissfully ignorant creatures, which leads to them easily getting lost in their underground tunnels and popping up on the surface. Their clumsy attitudes (Hidden Ability Klutz) make them drop berries, which explains why you can find them everywhere, even when there are no berry trees in Unova.

I think they all are very shy pokemon and are frightened of people for some reason. Probably being hunted for EXP. :p

Heh, well I don't really see them as rare at all. Seeing as it's annoying when I'm searching for pokémon with a 5% encounter rate and Audinos keep showing up.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with what Para-dox said though, they're frightened.

Audino are absurdly common in shaking grass, but they're rare otherwise. They could have the same rarity as Chansey, since they're rather shy Pokemon.

Most likely because they give so much EXP. If they were so easy to run into, then people would be leveling up really easily. It's more of a challenge as they only show up in rustling grass.

They are rare cause they are natural born Battle Healers like Chansey and Miltank. Chansey has been between Uncommon to Rare in the games before and I think Miltank were just Uncommon is 1 Route.

While Miltank and Chansey's healing abilities were mostly beneficial out of battle party wise, Audino is a "White Mage" for the Pokemon world. In double/Triple Battles a Audino in the Center guarantees some form of healing whether through Heal Pulse. A move that only her and Alomomola (an equally Rare Pokemon I believe) learn naturally and they are the only two capable pre game. Post game its given to Pokemon like Slowpoke, Ralts, and Chansey.

Then you have her Healer Ability which will remove a negative status effect such as Poison to one of her parnters (If center in Triple) by the same rate as Shed Skin. And Regenerator allows her to heal by being swapped out for another Pokemon.

Audino is the perfect Healing Pokemon (with Alomomola being a close second) in Generation 5. Working a bit more to get one seems justified.

That's a really cool and interesting theory. I think you could be reading way into it, but possibly not due to the names being similar. They may be rare as well because they are going extinct due to be over hunted though :P I really think that your theory is plausible, but I don't see how 'hiding' in grass and randomly shaking shields it from the sun. Maybe it is some type of medical problem Pokemon who is Albino and has epilepsy and possibly a mild form of autism because it can't communicate that it wants you to stop killing it (because it helps you when you hurt it).

    Interesting theory.

One of the motivations behind their hiding is being hunted for experience. They've learned to conceal themselves well in the grass, but when one gets nervous, it creates the telltale shaking grass that souts to trainers, "Lots of easy EXP here!"

Albeit, Albinos can have blue eyes as well. I came to a conclusion about this Pokemon fairly early in the game, as soon as I found it; But that might be because I was working with an Albino rabbit.

    Lucky me, I was on Route 3, the first time the grass shook I found one. On top of that, an Impish Nature. ...caught in a color coordinated ball; the Heal Ball. ....I'm a bit anal-retentive about ball aesthetics. >u>;

Trainers send out their Samurotts and whack them for EXP. That's why they hide, but they're awkward and make noise.
Their DW ability, Klutz, slightly proves this.
