Final Fantasy X remake on the PS3 and Vita!

I have more of a reason to get a Vita now, and even less of an excuse as to why I don't own a PS3 yet. Thank you, Atlus and Square Enix <3

Atlas is releasing a Persona 4 remake on the Vita too, so I wasn't planning on getting the Vita until I heard that news.

Now that there's another remake going to the Vita ahhh I have to have it.

I loved FFX, it was my first Final Fantasy game, and is my fav Final Fantasy game. I hope it's a total remake and not just a "bump" in graphics, I want to see XIII's level of graphics.

But I still think a remake of FFVII would have been better. And all this will do is piss off fans of VII. I think Square made the wrong move here, because a remake of VII would have made them so much money.

FFX was my first FF game and still remains my favourite. I will be getting the Vita just for this game. I can'twait to play this

@Andy: A remake of VII will always make them money no matter when they do it, so I don't think they're losing out on any fanbase tbh. Who knows though, the 15th anniversary of its release is coming up in 2012...? XDD;

Imagine how bad fans of the FF series would rage if they remade X-2 in HD afterwards...I would enjoy it but everyone else would be like "wtf".

Yea it'll make money, and they won't be losing any sells for when VII comes out. But it'll still piss off VII fans, and I can see some saying "I'm not getting this FFX remake" just because it came out before a VII remake.

And OMG! If they came out with a remake of X-2 before a remake of VII the Square HQ would be burned to the ground. XD

I agree but it won't happen. The company have said that if it would have to take no longer than a year and not cost that much, but obviously, they aren't going to just port it over and that be that, they would have to completely change it and by this industries standards, a year will hardly be enough. =[

The Vita is just getting better and better! :D​

FFX was a fun game and I enjoyed it but I'd much rather see a remake of FFV and FFVI so that the NES and SNES games can finally be remade completely. FFVII would be okay but it's already milked so much money with spin off games, I kind of don't want it. FFIX would be the dream remake for me, I don't think it got its chance to shine like the other Final Fantasy due to the PS2's release.

I'll just sit this remake out unless there's actually some nice changes and I don't mean adding 7 gruelling islands like Fire Red.

So is this an actual remake or just an HD port? Either way, it's nice, but there are more deserving FF games as the poster above mentioned. Thankfully it's on the PS3 as well, so if they throw in some new content it'd be a decent buy for myself.

I daresay I'll end up getting this and putting about 300+ hours into it, although I can't say I'm particularly enthusiastic about it...I'd rather see remakes of FFV and VI first, similar to the FFIII and IV remakes on the DS. I don't mind FFX, but honestly I'd prefer FFXII, it is by far the superior game in my opinion. Still, it'll be nice to replay it.

They'd better not take the Dark Aeons out though, those were the best part of the game. I'm dreading Blitzball again though, that had got to be the worst minigame in FF history...one hopes they'll have an FFX-2 enhanced port as well. I don't care what people say, I LIKE FFX-2, it was fun, even if that was the only thing really going for it. xD

while i've got a ps3, i think i'd rather get it on the vita, just coz i'm more of a handheld kinda guy. i've always thought about getting the ps2 version so i'm pretty glad about this announcement :)

I must be in the minority in not liking X. I mean it was a lot better than XII, but I didn't really like the characters or the plot. There were better games for them to remake. VII or VIII would have been great, to name two examples.

I kind of hope it is the exact same game cause i don't like the new fighting style and for me FFX was the last Good final fantasy game.

Final Fantasy is by far my favorite game in the series. It was my first, too. I cannot wait for this. :3

I at least hope they add some sort of extra features, it would be nice to have some to add to the awesomeness of the game.

I must be in the minority in not liking X. I mean it was a lot better than XII, but I didn't really like the characters or the plot. There were better games for them to remake. VII or VIII would have been great, to name two examples.

Yeah and those would take far more money and time to do, which is why they're not.

I bet they don't fix the poorly aged cutscene direction. Maybe we'll get a real soundtrack if we're lucky.

That isn't going to happen. They've gone on the record saying they'd love to remake VII but it would just take so much time and all of their resources to do it properly that in the end, it wouldn't be worth it. It's just too large-scale a project to tackle, especially now that the company is floundering a little bit.

As such, I imagine the FFX remake will pretty much be a port with updated textures and maybe polygons for the characters.

See what I said to Andy and apply it to VIII too. Although I kind of agree--while X was a decent game, it's not my favourite in any capacity. I hated the battle system, haha.

The characters all have high-poly models that are swapped in whenever it's possible to display them in a real time cutscene, so a good start would be to use those for in-game play, or at least stop switching between the two during scenes.
