I seriously wish they'd just give the Assange thing a rest. Nobody cares anymore about what he did in 2010.

Anywho, 4 hour nap. Gonna sleep like baby tonight :U

If he raped someone, then I'm all in for him going to jail or something for that.
But that only. Not the politics ********. People have the right to know what their governments do wrong, no matter what the US has to say about that.

I'm sure it is, Hikari.

I am ignorant of the bureaucracy and politics of the world, but I still wonder why it's so bloody difficult for them to enter the embassy and interview him there in regards to the whole thing. Just don't understand it. /waits for Netto or Went to hopefully clarify :U

Anywho. Must head out soon to go to the school to fill out a loan application because apparently what I'm getting back isn't going to be enough to pay for everything this semester. -sigh- I hate our secondary education system :c

Because embassies are technically part of their country's territory, and not of the country they are built in.

I understand that. That is obvious. But what is so difficult with seeking to use it as a neutral ground under the supervision and approval of the government of Ecuador?

Because the Government of Ecuador has declared Assange to be a protected guest of the country on the grounds that he's victim of an illicit political persecution.

And the matter is, they don't want to question him, he's got an order of extradition to Sweden. And, if he were tried in absence, even appearing from said embassy via videoconference, he could be declared guilty and a new order of capture issued.

By keeping him away from the British police, who have orders to send him to Sweden, Ecuador have already crossed the line, so they might as well just say "to hell with everything" and do the full "refuse to cooperate with anybody" package. Let's also take into account that it's widely believed that the US will issue their own extradition order to put him on a trial for the leaks, and since Ecuador is in the anti-US group and the UK is in the pro-US one, they will not cooperate with the British authorities so easily.
