If it's not a new ability my guess would be Sturdy, which is also Carbink's hidden ability.

Because he already uses rock types as well as steel type Pokemon, it wouldn't be totally out of this world. It could come up in the post-game, seeing as Diancie isn't exactly a common Pokemon, Diancie might not show up during the main story line.

Gen 4 Pokémon have gotten Megas (Garchomp, Abamasnow, Lucario come to mind), but more would be nice.

I mentioned earlier that Perhaps there'll be some ruins underground surrounded in crystal with only Carbink. When we take Diancie (if they give it to us) or it's Mega stone (if given to us) it'll open a special room with the Mega Stone/Diancie. Sort of based on the Kingdom in the movie, or maybe it was vice versa if they do/did make it for these games.

Btw those who are bothered by Charizard X being owned by Steven: I think it's just a demonstration of Mega evolution much like how the professor sends out Buneary's and stuff. Also note that in the screenshot of it it's level is 100. I doubt Steven will battle us with a Lv. 100 in the middle of a route...

I do hope the Hoenn E4 gets a pokemon change though, maybe during rematches. Currently all E4 members have double of one pokemon and Steven doesn't even seem to be a Steel type trainer. With the new Pokedex I hope that they can finally give these trainers more diverse pokemon.

We still haven't had any sort of new dex confirmed so right now the discussion/question is if they'll change it. Hoenn has been the one that has experienced no change at all.

I hope they don't take one step forward, just to take two steps back. It would be bad for business for newer people if they didn't update the dex and include some new ones for the people just starting with x and y. I understand the want for nostalgia but in a world like pokemon, nostalgia doesn't always equal cashflow sadly. Now as a person who has never played the original games, I wouldn't mind either way so long as I can still trade over a new one or two.
But then again it is game freak so who knows, lmao.

As you said Diancie may be an exception. If we get it in an event it'll proably be like Torchic who we got before the National Dex but wasn't in the Kalos dexes.
Also any Megas they show in the future from other regions could be post game like Mawile and the like. Though Mawile was in the dex...I hope that any Hoenn dex Pokémon that have Megas are available pre-post story unlike what happened in XY.

Personally, I believe the news is satisfactory enough because it shows that Mega Evolutions would continue on here and Diancie is going to be in an event, along with retaining the protagonists (Brendan finally shows hair as sideburns, thus finally the white hair myth) and confirming the primeval formes of Kyogre/Groudon. Just enough to make things OK.

Megas before E4 is a must, I agree. Especially since they've needlessly given Diancie one, they're going to promote megas even more, I believe.

Imo the Corocoro leaks are surely exciting with the new Megas, Team Aqua and Magma's smexy redesign along with Hoenn-styled Brendan and May! Ohgod I am SO STOKED FOR ORAS NOW xD

Anyways, I agree with the trailers being a big whole summary and we are pretty much just seeing not much but what the leaks have shown and maybe a few little snapshots from the betas of the game.
