I wonder if anyone is open to a new topic right now? I've got one served up for you.

Create your own new Water-type move, with PP, Base Power, Accuracy and Description.

I'd love to see what you guys can come up with! So get posting now. I wasn't sure if this one was already explored, but hey given new era for the club I figured it'd be great to revisit old topics as well.

    Well, here goes....

    Saltwater Gun
    PP:
    30/30
    Power: 25
    Accuracy: 100
Blasts foe with saltwater aimed at the eyes. Has a chance to reduce accuracy. Increases the power of the next Electric-type move against the foe.

    I think it's kinda random.

CURRENT TOPIC: Why are Rock-types and Ground-types weak against Water-type moves?
Naturally I'd say they absorb water with makes them weak and even turn to mud.

    - Your nickname: R2J
    - Your Partner Pokémon: Blastoise
    - Reason for joining the club: Been a fan of water types since Gen 1, started out with Squirtle and never looked back.

Thanks, still prefer the normal over mega though.

I actually love the additional cannons on the Mega, because cannons are awesome. And it also explains why it has the Mega Launcher ability, and it learns some good moves that can take advantage of it. A Water Pulse coming off Mega Blastoise actually can pack quite a punch.

    Bubble Bomb
    PP: 20
    Power: 95
    Accuracy: 95
A massive bubble is hurled towards the foe, which causes a massive explosion. The user loses 1/ 8th health when used. High critical hit rate, but it comes at the cost of the user losing 1/ 4th health instead of 1/ 8th.

Yeah. Probably not the best idea in the world, but it's something, right?

    Water Fountain
    PP: 20
    Power: 60
    Accuracy: 100

A sprinkle of water is launched on the user's surroundings. It can be used in Double Battles if utilized by any Pokémon partner which happens to have the ability like Water Absorb (since this move also hits allies as well). With such wide range, it's also pretty handy if it comes to Hordes Battles too.

    - Your Partner Pokémon: Ludicolo
    ~~Diving Deep~~ (A Water Pokemon Fan Club)

    - Reason for joining the club: Water type is my favourite type in the whole game, because they're so diverse and perform many different roles on teams. You have offensive Water types, like Feraligatr, Gyarados, Clawitzer and Keldeo, as well as defensive and support ones, like Vaporeon, Rotom-Wash, Slowbro & Slowking and Tentacruel. There is a Water type for any situation, and they are all really cool and I just love them.
    - Answer to the current topic: I would say Rock and Ground types are weak to Water because rocks and mud and soil and stuff like that are all permeable, so they absorb Water, so it makes sense for Water types to be super effective on Rock and Ground types (poor Golem xD)

Welcome aboard! You'll be added to the list shortly.

Ludicolo has to be one of the most unique Water-types out there with its secondary Grass-type, making it have some unique stuff to use. I always loved Lotad's line over its counterpart Seedot because the former had more uniqueness to it whereas Seedot became a type that had already been present on something else. Clauncher line, Slowpoke line and Vaporeon are other faves of what you mentioned, I really loved Mega Slowbro which is a strong tank despite that derpy look.

Hey there, welcome to PC's official Water-type Club! You've landed yourself in a great club with a great Captain! ^_^

I agree with the Captain, the Lotad line is definitely interesting! I've been using it since its debut, while it's a little weak from the beginning, but with the right moves and training Ludicolo's definitely guaranteed to be a trusty partner! I recall wrecking a team of OU and Uber in a Double Battle with Ludicolo!

Once again, welcome aboard! Don't be afraid to create interesting topics and make conversations here!

    - Your nickname: AmourPearlShipper
    - Your Partner Pokémon: Magikarp
    - Reason for joining the club: Tbh, I don't really like water-types that much compared to other types, because they are severely overrated. However, there are many of them I have experience with.

    Jet Strike (physical move)
    PP: 15
    Power: 140
    Accuracy: 100

The user runs into its opponent with full force. It has a 20% chance to flinch the opponent. This attack does 33% recoil damage. Exclusive to Scolipede, Kabutops, Talonflame and Cloyster (and their families obv).

I completely agree! While I enjoy Shiftry's design, I think Seedot and Nuzleaf are a bit generic and dull, and nowhere near as cool or funny as their counterparts, Lotad and Lombre. Plus I love using Ludicolo on Rain teams, because Swift Swim Ludicolo with a Life Orb can put a few dents in whatever needed.

I don't find Water-types that overrated, but there are a lot of them so expect tons of people using them in some way or another. Anyways, love your move idea here especially with what Pokemon can learn it. Having it on Talonflame of all things is something I would never picture but it could be a nice solution to Rock-types given how badly it gets threatened by them. Scolipede already gets Aqua Tail (thanks Move Tutors) but it is still interesting.

Anyways do have fun and see all the sights of our beautiful ocean of Water Pokemon!

    Thanks, Hika!

The main reason why I find water-types overrated is because most people say they are amazing both offensively and defensively and have great stats to boot. I'll concede that Water is a great type defensively, but as an offensive type... not really. Most water-types have access to Ice Beam to beat grass-types, indeed, but by this logic all grass-types have access to HP Rock to beat fire-types. Some of them can also use Earthquake and Focus Blast. Water-types just don't offer the offensive utility a Rock- or a Fighting- type can.

As for Talonflame getting a water-type move, I'd like to see it happen so that it can beat some of its checks, such as Tyranitar and Heatran. No more Natural Gift + Durin Berry crap.

All Water-type Pokémon together, don't make a high BST iirc, which is very surprising. Dragon has the highest, which isn't surprising.

But Water-Pokémon are so fluid that they can fit in any teams depending on the assigned role. Most of them can counter their own weaknesses without an aid from their fellow team mates. Water-types have only a few weakness, while those weaknesses are quite common in the competitive, particularly Electric-type moves.

But yeah, those points really make up for that low BST. :)

This is what makes Water-types really useful, because while some out there don't have the best stats in the world the thing to know is the stat distributions tend to be very balanced, and you have ones that focus on offense, some on defense, and others that are a combination of both.

The fact many have access to an Ice-type attack along with a few other interesting moves, allows them to counter many threats that they face. The fact there are tons of dual-typed Water Pokemon means they can get access to other unique traits as well making them even more versatile.

Grass-types have access to HP Rock/Fire/Ice along with a few other interesting moves (Earthquake, Focus Blast, Sludge Bomb), allowing them to counter many threats that they face. Tangrowth and Mega Sceptile are great examples of this. See where I'm going?

Anyway, what is the general public's opinion on Manaphy? I like its design quite a bit and Tail Glow is awesome. :)

Tail Glow is incredible for sweeping, and pairing Manaphy with Politoed to activate Hydration is an awesome strategy to pair up with Rest. Also Manaphy is so gosh darn adorable~ :3
