For hidden powers, is it alright to not have the perfect spread for a certain type?

e.g. I am breeding for an Eevee with HP Fire, and got a spread of 31/04/31/30/31/30. Although the attack stat is nowhere near 30, the type is still fire, and all of the stats that matter for what I am going for have their max IVs while still retaining HP Fire - since hidden power has a set power of 60, does the 4 in attack matter at all?

Yup, it doesn't matter what the numbers are since it's a fixed amount as you said, just as long as the odds and evens are in the right stats (which they are). You should be fine with that spread!

Has anyone ever used Eelektross? Do you know of any good sets that aren't on Smogon? Maybe something that revolves around a Physical attacking Eelektross, since the one I have is Adamant.

Eelektross is usually better off with its special movepool, but it can use Coil to decent effect:
-Coil
-Wild Charge/Thunder Punch
-Drain Punch
-Aqua Tail/Dragon Tail
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 SDef
Item: Leftovers

How do online battles work?

As a person who wants to start battling online. I am confused about some things like.

For example what is a Uber? Can I just make a team of what I like and battle? Or is there a list of pokemon that can and can't be used, even though I won't be battling in tournaments?

I really don't know how this works, could I get some help?

Uber is a Pokémon deemed too powerful for normal play. OU consists of a certain amount of Pokémon that are most commonly used but are balanced out by other Pokémon in the same tier. When a Pokémon dominates the metagame to the point where it's making the metagame worse rather than better it'll get put to a suspect test. This consists of 'laddering', those who score a certain amount of points (not quite points but rather a ranking of such, hard to describe) are able to vote on whether they want to keep the Pokémon or not. Other times a council (a group of people who head the tier) vote and decide between themselves.

You can make a team of what you like but it won't get you far competitively. The best thing to do is to pick a tier (even ubers is a tier - there's no Pokémon that can't really be used competitively except mega rayquaza - which is completely banned) with Pokémon you like and play in that.

If you're interested in battling competitively (on Pokémon Showdown) the best thing to do is to read up on some of Smogon's guides (www.smogon.com). Smogon is the competitive battling authority and decide the tiers.

Smogon's webzine has useful guides (http://www.smogon.com/articles/) it also has a strategy pokedex (http://www.smogon.com/dex/) which will show you tiers as well as strategies. Best thing to start out with is to jump on PokeCommunitys battle server and do 'random battles' it'll help you learn the basics of competitive.

If you're participating in official Pokémon tournaments on your 3DS (which you're not, but still mentioning anyway) you should look at Nugget Bridge.

Good luck!

Oh and if you're playing for fun, check out other metagames (should be on PS, might not be played as much on PC so maybe go to the main server for that), there might be something you like there.

Does Moxie make more sense on a Pinsir intended to mega-evolve than Hyper Cutter?

Was thinking in a scenario like take them down to sash/killing range, they kill my 'mon, send in Pinsir and quick attack for the Moxie boost before mega evolving.
Is this more advantageous than having Hyper Cutter to prevent Intimidate drops?

Hyper Cutter and Mold Breaker are still better than Moxie, IMO. Intimidate and Levitate are uncommon abilities, making dealing with them more useful than a free Attack boost. And besides, you're boosting your Attack with Swords Dance anyway.

Ev Question

I have some Pokémon that are lvl 90-100 with terrible EVs. Is it worth it to reset bag them and train them properly? I'm looking more for online battles, if that matters.

I hope they're not just terrible forever lol

Are we talking about terrible IVs or terrible EVs? So many V's!!!

It all depends on nature and IV's and all that fun convoluted stuff (which isn't that convoluted if explained properly)

Level doesn't really matter anymore, as long as they're level 50 I guess.

6iv eeveelution: which one is the best competitively?

My fianceé just got a six-iv eevee in wondertrade and wants to know which eeveelution is the best in terms of competitive battling. I know this is a debatable topic but that's why I'm bringing it here. Hope you guys can all help out. :)

Your pokemon is born with Iv's, like you were born with genetics. You can improve your pokemon's Ev's much like you improve your own skills, but if your genetics give you horrible speed, you will always be a mediocre runner.

what is the nature?

in general, sylveon is the best, though it's usually an inferior clefable. umbreon is usable as well and has some randomly good match-ups despite its overall inconsistency.

but i'm talking ou. in lower tiers, even as high as uu, they have places in different metagames i'm p sure.

Nature is just as important as IVs. You could go for Sylveon but if the nature is bad, then the Sylveon could be worse than one with terrible IVs and a good nature. So, what's the nature?

Ubers: lol

OU: """""""Sylveon"""""" (use Clefable or Mega Gardevoir instead).

UU: Sylveon, as it is an extremely formidable wallbreaker in a tier where the only other half-decent Fairy-type is Florges. Umbreon is also decent, thanks to its ability to act a cleric and 'check' to some physical attackers with STAB Foul Play - Espeon is a shitty Alakazam (although that might end up getting banned) and Vaporeon is a shitty Alomomola.

RU: Jolteon, which can act as a good cleaner / revenge killer thanks to its brilliant Speed tier and decent power. In particular, Mega Steelix being gone is great for it.

NU: At this point, it becomes a matter of 'which of the remaining Eeveelutions is at least borderline usable?' Leafeon is probably the 'best' as it can Baton Pass Swords Dance boosts and function as a fairly hard-hitting wallbreaker, but there are better Grass-types. All of Flareon, Leafeon and Glaceon receive insufficient usage to be NU.

PU: Leafeon, as the PU metagame's lack of offensively inclined Grass-types that don't suck allow Choice Band or Swords Dance sets to shine. Glaceon is a mediocre Choice Specs user on the cusp of viability. Flareon blows.

Natures:
- Sylveon: Modest (Specs) or Calm (specially defensive cleric)
- Umbreon: Calm
- Espeon: Timid
- Vaporeon: Bold or Calm
- Jolteon: Timid
- Leafeon: Adamant or Jolly
- Glaceon: Modest
- Flareon: Adamant

In your opinions (ignoring smogon tiers) what is the best Greninja set? Or the sets you main if you don't believe there's an object best set. I plan on breeding for a shiny Froakie but I don't know whether to go for a special or mixed Greninja.

Mixed Greninja is best because of the simple additions of Gunk Shot and Low Kick to its move pool. The former lets it hit Fairy Pokemon, which it struggled against in X/Y, while the latter hits Tyranitar and Heatran harder without having to resort to Hydro Pump:
-Hydro Pump/Low Kick
-Ice Beam
-Gunk Shot
-Dark Pulse/Extrasensory/Hidden Power (Fire/Grass)/Grass Knot
Nature: Naive
EVs: 40 Atk/216 SAtk/252 Spe
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Protean

Soooooo, took forever to breed a perfect Cleffa but it paid off and I actually bred 2.

For the first one it's going to look like a set I found on Smogon...

Unaware Ability
Bold Nature
248 HP
252 Defense
8 Special Defense

Moonblast
Heal Bell
Wish
Protect

Now the second one will also have Unaware and it's also Bold. Anyone have any good ideas of how I should use it? Maybe calm mind?
