The weakness of the Rogue quest is that it really gets punished by aggro. Especially since rogue uses it's health as a resource. Things that will pull out cards such as Dirty Rat make it really hard for them to complete their quest. It also depends on if they have an insane hand. The times I've played it, it really comes down to RNG. Pirate Warrior also takes a big dump on it. It's just simply too fast.

Yeah, that's exactly why I don't think it's as strong as a lot of people make it out to be - it's not reliably good and if the quest fails/doesn't come down in time you're pretty screwed since the deck alone is just mostly full of bad quality minions. And yeah, it's weak to several decks, mostly aggro but also taunt warrior so it's definitely not that unbalanced imo.

But if it stops people from complaining I think Austin's suggestion of "minions you play from now on are 5/5" is fair - all the good rogue decks are notoriously uninteractive and I think that's where a lot of the frustration comes from, so giving the opponent a way to nerf/trade into the 5/5s might make it less of a pain to play against once the quest hits. As hilarious as it is that hexing or polying the minions just makes 5/5 frogs and sheep, I can agree it's a little unfair there, lol.

Is it actually effective? Mage played it for a while but he couldn't win with it so he stopped lol

I did open tony a few days ago, so I've been playing a poor man's version of the fun and interactive 'generate a bunch of fireballs and double reduce them' kind of mage

Unless you yourself are playing a Mage or have another way to counter a spell/eat secrets, or if your opponent is not lucky enough to generate Ice Blocks (which is almost impossible if you're using the deck formula for it), then it's not really possible to beat.

I've lost against it every time. Every single time I've had the mage down to one HP for multiple turns, sometimes for far too long, but unless you can get rid of secrets, then Ice Block will keep the Mage immortal until they can set up Sorcerer's Apprentice x2, Molten Reflection, Time Warp, Antonidas, Molten Reflection and then infinite Fireballs.

All I'm trying to do is finish stupid class quests ;o;

I won ONE time with that deck, and I played at least a dozen games with it. I can never pull off the mage quest in a timely manner, so I've given up using quest mage decks lol

You also have difficulty winning with Pirate Warrior though, maybe your plays are questionable ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

This week's brawl is so fun - I know rogue is like the OP one but I'm having a blast with priest

The current brawl is completely unfair for Kel'thuzad players. Rafaam's fully completed Staff of Origination hero power is just way too powerful compared to Kel'thuzad's lame "draw a random Naxx minion". Ke'thuzad also doesn't have a good board clear, and Rafaam has SEVERAL. It took me like 6 tries to win a tavern brawl this week because I kept getting Kel'thuzad lol.
Also I found this funny :P

Congrats on the promotion, by the way! You made the OP list entirely blue now lol.

It's horrifically unbalanced, but the upside is I feel a sense of accomplishment when I win with Kel, and when I lose with Kel, I have the excuse of "well of course I lost, I got Kel'Thuzad".

But yeah, hero power aside, the decks themselves are stupidly unbalanced. Kel'Thuzad has some nice minions, and the lack of spells wouldn't hurt so much if a) Rafaam didn't have a way of constantly generating spells (if you stay on the second staff, you can get a lot of good clears) and b) if the spells in Rafaam's deck weren't so OP, like seriously? 0 mana deal 5 damage to everything? If you're gonna put that in the deck, at least put it in Kel's too. They also could have reduced minion cost from Kel's hero power - the Naxx minions are already a lot weaker than what Rafaam can generate, and Rafaam plays them for a huge discount.

All in all, pretty bad balancing
but what's new, blizzard

Knights of the Frozen Throne is Hearthstone's newest expansion! You can watch the cinematic here and read what we know of the expansion here.

What do you guys think of the theme of this new expansion? Are you excited? What kinds of cards are you hoping to see?

I'm really excited and also not for Deathstalker Rexxar - Blizzard's been pushing for a slower archetype of hunter but it just doesn't fit the class. I really want this to work and in theory it's a really cool idea, but in practice I just really doubt it'll be good. Dinomancy also seemed good on paper when it was introduced last expansion, but it was just never played.

I really hope I'm wrong though, the effect is super cool. :D

so there's a new expansion and can I just say that I'm still mad I haven't puled a single Quest card lmfao

on the bright side, I finally pulled two Sorcerer's Apprentice from a single pack after like two years of never drawing one when it's a common rarity card. tbh Hearthstone's RNG just hates me

also I totally missed the discussion by like two months but I actually won most matches as Kel'Thuzad in that brawl way back when lmao

I am excited for Knights of the Frozen Throne, though. I just want to draw one Quest card before it releases. Just one. That's all I want out of life. I don't even care what class it's for at this point lol

I don't think you're missing much, quests are kind of trash in their current state

Bunch of new cards have been announced/leaked the last 2 days - it's really annoying how they are all scattered out and like in different languages, but Reddit has a decent list of everything released so far:
https://www.reddit.com/r/hearthstone/comments/6lqz15/the_reanimated_prerelease_reveal_chart_all/

Nothing is really exciting to me yet, like there's a lot of interesting cards but nothing really jumps out as something I really want to put in a deck so far - at best I feel like a lot of these are "good in arena" type cards, but maybe the rest of the set will justify using some of these in constructed. I do appreciate the introduction of all these new mechanics though, and I hope they're just saving the best cards for last.

Yes, but I still want one for the sake of having one haha. Preferably the Mage or Priest ones, as those are my main classes and I know some things I'd like to do with them.

I'm glad they're finally releasing a Lifesteal keyword, though. It was about time. And afaik, only one Paladin card and one Warlock card have this ability currently? And spells with Lifesteal are lovely. Spirit Lash looks exciting for that, especially with even just +1 spell damage on it.

I can see some decent deathrattle combos with Ticking Abomination. I also really like Keleseth, and he'll pair well with Goons decks from Gadgetzan. Taldaram is a bit too random to be particularly helpful, but in some decks his synergy could be wonderful. I also really like Lana'thel. I don't care for Warlock, but it definitely could use some more synergy for discard decks, and the fact that her lifesteal benefits directly from it also works very well for Warlock.

Hearthpwn also updates their revealed card list the minute each card is announced.

I'm honestly not a huge fan of the Lifesteal focus in this expansion. I can't really say why, though.
Both Keleseth and Taldaram are too limiting to be useful imo. Taldaram is basically just a 2 mana discounted Faceless Manipulator that limits your deckbuilding options AND only gives a 3/3. And 2 mana cards are usually too important to not use, so Keleseth isn't amazing.

Tbh the only cards I really like so far are Professor Putricide and Blood Razor. Sindragosa might be good too, the effect is pretty cool.

I'm positive the emphasis on Lifesteal is for Warlock - Blizzard's standard way of "balancing" things is giving the worst class something OP when the next expansion rolls out, and Lifesteal might be an integral part of Guldan's hero card. It's a good mechanic for Warlocks in general - they've been getting more and more "masochistic" cards that deal damage to your own hero without nearly enough life gain to make it sustainable. I hope they address the issues with the discard mechanic too, it hasn't been viable for a while.

I mean, most games of this type have a lifesteal mechanic. I'm surprised it took them this long to implement it as a legitimate keyword

btwm the current tavern brawl is absolutely awful lmao

ALL THE FROZEN THRONE CARDS HAVE BEEN REVEALED AND CAN BE FOUND HERE

There are some pretty neat cards in this expansion, although most of them don't seem to be as generally powerful as Un'Goro cards. The cards are pretty unique and situational and I hope that'll make players think more carefully about how they construct their decks in the future. I doubt the meta will change with the release of KotFT, but if they keep making sets like this, the Hearthstone meta will be interesting by the time the current sets rotate out.
