September Serpents
Create a Serpent Pok?mon!

Welcome to September Serpents! This is a new and unique game where players can take REAL Pokemon home as prizes!

I wanted an excuse to spead some of my favorite Pokemon all over the community on my birthday today, so together with our wonderful, charming, creative, fun and mischievous mod Epilogue we Trivia lovers have devised a contest of sorts! Do you accept the challenge?

01-6.jpg

Participants enter September Serpents by inventing their own original reptilian Pokemon. Maybe you have a fire cobra in mind or another winged dragon, perhaps an enchanting humanlike figure with snakes for hair? Whether your creature is made of grass, steel or ice, has one tail or sixty, is covered in scales or fur, its all totally fair game! Just have fun and create!

Prizes & Deadline

Everybody who enters September Serpents is automatically able to redeem a free newly-hatched Milotic at the end of the contest. All Milotic have 5 or more IVs distributed appropriately and several come with useful held items such as bottle caps, rare candy, heart scales, berries. All Pokemon will also be infected pokerus to double the evs received in battle, offering you a speedy training session. However, there is more in store!

September Serpents is accepting entries until September 15th. Then it will be time to vote your favorite entries! If your pokemon gets enough votes then you could potentially add a hidden ability pokemon to your haul!

A Snivy with the ability Contrary awaits the player whose entry has the most votes. A Marvel Scale Dratini is reserved for the contestant with the second most votes. Last but certainly not least a Gyarados with Moxie will be gifted to the next runner up. Won't you take one of these mighty snakes home with you? All of them also will have pokerus and even better held items.

Not interested in any of these prizes yet? Well, you might still want to keep an eye on this thread just in case a new Pokemon mysteriously becomes available... Just when you least expect it there could be an update offering a brand new prize ;) Shall we call it a bonus round.

This event is possible thanks to my friend the lovely and gracious LilyGardy. I would like to give her a very special thanks and a great big hug. She has just recently had a birthday herself so please wish her a belated happy birthday if you have not aleady. This event is open to XY/ Oras players as well as players of SM/USUM. We will jointly distribute Pokemon to players at the completion of September Serpents.

How to Participate

If you are interested in playing September Serpents but need some help getting started then here is a fun template you can follow suggested by our own Epilogue. Heck, I'm going to use it to create a pokemon myself just for fun! Feel free to deviate if you have your own ideas, removing or adding any criteria that you would like.

Spoiler: Example template for entries!

All entries are equally prized by me, and the winner of the contest will be decided by all of YOU guys when it is time to vote on entries on September 15th.

Everyone is welcome to create a Pokemon for September Serpents. Also anyone can vote on an entry, even if you are not interested in submitting a pokemon yourself. You can totally still come and enjoy everyone's else's work, and I hope that you will. We will save a seat for you. You also have the option to waive your Milotic or gift it to someone else should you only want to create a Pokemon for fun and not for a reward. If you win one of the top prizes you have the option to pass your Pokemon on to the player with the next most votes if you do not wish to redeem a reward.

If you have decided that you would like to play then all you have to do is leave a post here in this thread containing your vision of a new pokemon. If you have questions then please feel free to ask away here or just pm me or hit up my profile!

Love for cute and awesome serpentine Pok?mon? This thread is pure win.

I'm not going to enter (as far as I know; job is hard enough. But I want to see people's serpentine designs and vote for them. This thread is very mood-uplifting with promise.

Luck to you all!

Actually, at this rate, I may need to take up Revise's hybrid advise... xD

EDIT: I thought of something but it feels a bit similar to Sam's example, haha. Might give it a try still!

I'm glad to see so much enthusiasm. If enough people participate and enjoy this then maybe this could become ongoing game where we play for Pokemon. Another month could be Dogs of December, Febuary Foxes or May's Monkeys. Stay tuned pokefans!

Hello Pokemon lovers,

I have a status update everyone. Due to harsh weather conditions we will be extending September Serpents. I have been contacted via pm with requests for more time to submit entries. Unfortunately some of our members, though eager to participate, have experienced power outages and other technical difficulties. I wish all of you well, and a safe and stress-free. As I am currently living in a zone affected by Hurricane Florence I can relate to the hardship, and would like to announce that September Serpents will be *extended, and entries are very much still welcome through this week. The new deadline TBA, so keep an eye on this thread.

Sam, I?m really sorry for my absence! The weather?s been quite turbulent, and we even had a couple of small blackouts in the last few days, not to mention earthquake trembles?there was simply no chance of getting online. :( I am so relieved to see the deadline extended!

Of course, my situation doesn?t begin to compare with Typhoon Mangkhut and Hurricane Florence. Stay safe everyone? I?ll continue to pray for all those affected!

As for my entry:

This Pok?mon is based off an Aboriginal Australian deity, the Rainbow Serpent. It also takes inspiration from the rainbow boa! :)

Name: Reignboa
Species: The Rainbow Serpent Pok?mon
Type: Water / Dragon

Abilities: Multiscale

Physical Features:

Reignboa?s winding serpentine body consists of deep orange scales and a pale yellow underbelly. Along both sides are markings; circles within circles connected by three wavy lines, a symbol that represents waterholes or running water in Aboriginal Australian art. Two rounded horns extend from its draconic head, and between them is another waterhole symbol. There are no pupils in its glowing white eyes. This immense Pok?mon?s most remarkable feature is its beautiful, flowing, diaphanous sail that runs down the length of its back, shimmering in every colour of the rainbow.

Background Information:

In arid regions, Reignboa is regarded as a giver of life, bestowing rain upon the dry and thirsty lands. This volatile Pok?mon protects its people but can be devastating when angered. It is said to inhabit permanent waterholes.

***

Stories tell of a star falling from heaven, taking the form of a giant snake that shaped the featureless earth, providing ridges, mountains and gorges. Whenever a rainbow appears, it is believed that Reignboa is moving from one waterhole to the next.

Moves:
Lv. 1 Dragon Rage
Lv. 1 Glare
Lv. 8 Rain Dance
Lv. 15 Ancient Power
Lv. 22 Brutal Swing
Lv. 28 Aqua Ring
Lv. 35 Dragon Tail
Lv. 42 Crunch
Lv. 50 Dive
Lv. 54 Dragon Dance
Lv. 64 Earth Power
Lv. 71 Aqua Tail
Lv. 80 Sacred Fire
Lv. 85 Outrage

I've enjoyed viewing the lovely entries above, and hearing potentially interesting projects via pm! Good luck to all of you. and keep them coming! The new deadline for entries is **Wednesday, September 26th. After that we can let the voting and games begin my scale-covered friends! :D

Just for fun I have decided to give you guys a BONUS QUESTON haha! Does anyone know what kind of real world snake is shown below? If in addition to your original serpent pokemon you decide answer the bonus question then you win a free Steelix, 5-6 ivs, pokerus, good nature and valuable held item.

This applies to no only new participants, but those who have already posted an entry may still answer this question and redeem a Steelix, no worries! Just as long as you are playing.

You do not have to answer the bonus question to create a fakemon and redeem any of the other previous prizes, this is just a fun bit of extra credit completely optional for you poke fans. I hope that you enjoy.

So who is that Pokemon... er animal?

I know what kind of snake that it! ;)

As much as I'd like the prizes in this contest, I'm afraid I have no means of trading. Still, I'd be happy to hand my prize down to the next person, if it comes to that! ^^

This was actually really fun when I came up with this; hopefully I can even elaborate more if I think of stuff, but this is fine for now.

Name: Muzon
Type: Fire/Water
Height: 2cm
Weight: far far less than even a single ounce

Biology: Muzon are the pests of the Pokemon world, often mistaken for simple earthworms or other such things, they are in fact more akin to tiny lizards or even pseudo dragons; forked tongues, scales, and very long bodies that comprise 90% of their body, with the other 10% being their lavish and decorated tails. Humans of the world are fascinated by their tails, but due to their size and general rowdy nature, being able to examine the tail of any Muzon can be very, very tricky and taxing. Every Muzon has a distinct design on their sharpened tail as well, only adding to the frustration.
They do have small forearms at the very top of their bodies and a tiny mouth with searing hot teeth. The claws ooze the same crimson heat as well. No legs, though their tail blades also emanate the same heat.

They are overall a melange of a deep shade of maroon and black throughout, with very tiny specks of baby blue across their body in seemingly random positions.

Physically overall, it is thought they could in fact be a distant cousin of the Pokemon Electross, as the two share very similar traits in many areas.

To use one in combat tests the true mettle of any trainer, as they can be difficult to capture anyway, despite their size. They usually band together in large groups, which is their preferred method of causing chaos.

They are not known to evolve.

Habitat: They live in the wild or in cities, generally in areas where humans least expect to see them. In a lake pond, waiting to make their habitat uncomfortably warm to any unsuspecting visitors, be it other Pokemon or humans; and have even been known to set up inside human habitats, such as inside drains, or even hot water heaters; all with disastrous results.

Abilities:
Flame Body or Rust (its signature ability that causes all moves regardless of type to inflict double damage to Steel types)
Hidden Ability: Torrent

Stats:
HP: 25
Attack: 95
Defense: 20
Special Attack: 110
Special Defense: 30
Speed: 88

Edit: I also don't have a guess for what snake that is. Too bad, because I love Steelix.

Can I recommend a Furret as a prize too? If Steelix is a serpent, Furret should count too. :P

Close enough, I'd say!

Oh wow, I'm really loving these Pokémon! This was simply too exciting to pass up, so I couldn't resist making one just for fun! :D

Name: Levyriath
Species: The Revolutionary Pokémon
Type: Electric/Ghost (Data Forme), Steel/Psychic (Realized Forme)

Ability:
Singularity - Under normal circumstances, Levyriath mainly exists in "Data Forme." However, when Levyriath's HP reaches 0, it changes into "Realized Forme" and regains all of its HP. Once in Realized Forme, it becomes a Steel/Psychic-type Pokémon, its ability changes to Levitate, and its entire moveset is replaced (as listed in the "Moveset" section). At the end of a battle, Levyriath will revert back to Data Forme if the transformation took place.

Physical Traits:
In its Data Forme, Levyriath appears to be a fuzzy golden hologram resembling the shape of an East Asian dragon. In terms of size, it is slightly smaller than a Milotic. Although Levyriath's body is made up of static, it can still feel many physical sensations that other Pokémon are capable of feeling.

When Levyriath changes into Realized Forme, it creates a giant robotic airship resembling the mythical creature Leviathan. Levyriath channels all of its data into this airship, which essentially serves as its body during the transformation.

Background Information:
Originally known as "Project Wyvern," Levyriath was created by a group of researchers who were studying the concept of immortality. The goal of these researchers was to develop a "spirit" program that could evolve and flourish independent of its body. They decided to test the waters by designing a simple computerized Pokémon modeled after a serpent.

This serpent (named Wyvern at the time) evolved much faster than the researchers could anticipate. Although it was merely a computer program, it learned how to exist both physically and digitally. Wyvern's true form is that of an electric hologram, but it gained the ability to create robotic bodies to reside in. The computerized serpent Pokémon eventually developed instincts of its own—instincts of self-preservation, and instincts of constant evolution. Wyvern's newfound instincts caused it to flee from its creators, and it abandoned its namesake in the process. Craving to evolve even further, Wyvern decided to re-model itself after the mighty Leviathan. Thus, the Pokémon "Levyriath" was officially born.

Habitat:
Although Levyriath can easily materialize in the real world, it often hides itself as data inside electronic devices. It can travel freely throughout the network and may instantly emerge from any computer, TV, or smartphone screen across the globe. Be careful!

Moves (By Leveling Up):
Lv. 1 Shadow Sneak
Lv. 1 Thunder Wave
Lv. 5 Spark
Lv. 10 Confuse Ray
Lv. 12 Charge
Lv. 17 Feint Attack
Lv. 25 Night Shade
Lv. 30 Spite
Lv. 42 Volt Switch
Lv. 50 Shadow Ball
Lv. 57 Dragon Tail
Lv. 64 Thunderbolt
Lv. 70 Hyper Beam

Moveset (Realized Forme):
Psycho Boost
Earthquake
Meteor Mash
Dragon Pulse
