I just did the Johto Normal Monotype challenge w/ Pidgeot, Wigglytuff, and Tauros, and Wigglytuff definitely proved its worth. Its great that you can get a Moon Stone right before the Elite Four so you can have a Wigglytuff before you fight them. Fire/Thunder/Ice Punch FTW!

Jumpluff is working wonders. Am I right?

I am on Sinnoh in my normal ultimate, so let me pass on what I learned:
1. For the last three Gens, Return is a beast. Get as many as you can!!!
2. Gen I - Clefable, Raticate are both good (i'm not so hot on Wigglytuff), and Doduo is the best bird type overall.
3. Gen II - If you use Crystal, Clefable is in there. If not, use Girafarig (G/S). Pidgeot is your best flying option, and I also used Furret. Miltank or Tauros are both beasts and can learn EQ, though I used Miltank, and she was my savior against Lance with Rollout.
4. Gen III - Swellow is your flyer. Exploud for special, Zangoose is uber with Swords Dance, and Linoone can be useful if you want to use him (I didn't). Slaking can't learn Skill Swap, so no getting rid of Truant, though he is a beast with Return and Earthquake.
5. Gen IV - Lots of options here. I would go with Platinum so you can get Togekiss - Air Slash is epic with Serene Grace ability. It can take patience to train, but it's worth it, and Togetic isn't horrible. Staraptor is a good option as always. Girafarig, Lickilicky, Porygon-Z (trade evos or Pokesav for emulator), Clefable, Lopunny, etc.

I just don't like Slaking because I'm too lazy to find where to get Skill Swap, and even if I did, I'd have to waste a turn every battle. I'm way too lazy for that (maybe I'd be a Slaking if I were a Pokemon...)

And I was planning on using more than just Clefable and Wigglytuff, but they were doing so good, and I didn't want to train anyone else up when there was nothing wrong with the two of them. I had no problems at all.

For my Normal Gen I, I duo ran with Clefable and Wigglytuff, but Clefable ended up being like 20 levels higher than Wiggly. The thing is a beast. I'm bout to start Silver right now, and I'm planning on Pidgeot (to counter the only weakness I'll have to deal with), Tauros (STAB Headbutt or Strength and EQ), and Wigglytuff (Fire/Thunder/Ice Punch and Shadow Ball ->Psychic). Basically I'm going to duo with Tauros and Wigglytuff, and use Pidgeot every once in a while to keep up in levels and to fight Bruno since I won't have Psychic on Wigglytuff yet.

I'm also doing a Normal Sinnoh Monotype atm. I'm 4 badges in, and have a Staraptor and Bibarel. I'm trying to train up a Togepi to be useful, but its taking so long I might ditch it. I was planning on using a Girafarig too.

For Hoenn, off the top of my head, I'd recommend a belly drum Linoone, physical sweep Zangoose , special sweep Exploud, maybe castform or swellow, etc.

seriously, Natu is not worth training. At all. Doesn't learn any psychic moves until Kanto. I would just stick with who you have so far, although your lack of a Gyarados is puzzling...

edit: nm about Gyarados, Gen II is lame for him. I would have used Scyther, though.

If I may suggest a Pokemon for a Crystal Flying Monotype it would have to be Jumpluff. It destroyed in mine with Sleep Powder, Leech Seed, Synthesis and Giga Drain. Seriously it dominated.

Sup? You wanted a recommended team for Crystal Flying Monotype? Here's what I'd go with (I would have told you in the thread, but I'm at 999 posts and want my 1000th to be me saying 'hey everyone, I just beat the last Monotype in R/B version. I've done all 15 of them'

I would go with:
1st Flying type: Pidgeot over Noctowl. Pidgey gets Gust at lv. 9 and then Pidgeotto gets Wing Attack at level 31. Hoothoot gets Peck at 11, and then no other Flying type move. Since you can get him from the very first Route, you're probably going to get to the 30s well before you get the Fly HM (the only other Flying type move Noctowl will learn)
Ledian: It can learn Thunderpunch and Ice Punch. Probably the only Electric and Ice move you're going to have access too (with the exception of like a Gyarados with Icy Wind)
Crobat: I got one when I was doing the trio challenge, and I fell in love. Giga Drain + Fly + Bite + Steel Wing = Rape
Xatu: Probably the only other Flying Type I'd consider recommending. Psychic could be useful to you for maybe Koga. I'd probably teach it Fly/Thief/Psychic/Giga Drain (and give Crobat Leech Life instead)/maybe Hidden Power. Xatu is really only if you really want a 4th Pokemon.

Really the only other Pokemon I might recommend could be a Gyarados. It's pretty good, but no Thunderbolt/Ice Beam in this game really hurts, and he takes a lot of early experience away from you. I'd definitely recommend it for your Hoenn section though. If you have 3-4 Pokemon on your team like you did for the Kanto part, they'll all be nice and leveled for your important fights. Plus you get all three of them really early in the game (if you choose not to use Xatu).
