I'm the same, my fella has actually recently got me into Civ5, Civ Beyond Earth and Cities Skylines. I LOVE them.

Its where you transfer all your data from one 3DS to another (most importantly the friendcode). Yeah you could do it as you need both 3DS's to do it.

Yeah the effert I had to go to get friend safaris with pokemon I wanted LOL (thankfully my FS is Ivysaw, Quilladin and Sunkern so people were quite happy to swap friendcodes lol). Yeah I really missed it on AS/OR.

I think one of the best way to get breeding material is using the Friend Safari (as all pokemon in there have al least one top IV), If you get a Ditto friend safari, its kinda awesome, I had a friend who was a breeder so I just used to catch high IV Dittos for him because I had a Ditto Safari.

Showdowns kinda fun you can choose what EV/IV's your pokemon have. Its just pure battling, but becasue you can have any pokemon it kinda takes away the achievement you get from building your team from scratch like you would in the normal game.
I have not wonder traded in well over a year, mostly as I read you can get wondertraded a "bad egg" which corrupts your game, that may be a load of rubbish though. Also like you I am suspicious of Hacked pokemon out there.
Yeah that Gallade seems very suspicious, the chances of hatching a perfect IV shiny most be slim to near impossable.

Yeah my Friends are into Competitive to, I do have a competitive team I made from pokemon with high IV's from the Friend Safari on X and I enjoy the odd random team battle on Showdown.
I have had lots of luck chain fishing (on AS I chain fished a shiny version of every fishable pokemon needed for the pokedex). You often get a lot of shiny Magicarps and Goldeens though lol (not all bad as I traded a shiny Magicarp for a level 100 Xeneas a few weeks ago lol).
Ive never had successes with the Masuda method, but I only do it on the off chance rather than really trying (I breed all pokemon with my Japanise Ditto). oh and Yay for Delphox my favourite starter.

Doing the Pokedex now is surprisingly easy with the GTS now, much more so than it was pre Gen V lol. I am not really into the EV training (or the competitive scene as a whole), I have been trying to get more shiny Pokemon too, but have only really got them from chain fishing.
