  • Excuse me, can I please ask that you lock the thread Team Astra in the Team discussions section please? Thank you.
You were with christos or colcol or w/e, the inactive guy.
It was the hack help threads section suggestion.
Just because hacks aren't abysmal doesn't mean the rules are fine. I won't namedrop, but there are some pretty bad ones that are original but just... not good. They meet the requirements but just barely. They usually contain semi-edited scripts already in game, and terrible mapping with brand new tiles to cover up the fact.

The screenshots idea isn't the best, I admit. But the rules SHOULD be more specific. I.e., "2 Gyms and completely original events (besides Trainers)" alone makes for a much better base for hacks. People could still reuse areas already in game, but they'd have to have new events. Obviously those hacks wouldn't be very unique, but they'd be better than the "new maps/tiles guise ok now PROF. UNGULATE (Oak with edited text) gives you your first Pokeman then you fight your rival PHILIP (Blue with edited text and optional badly edited sprite) and later defeat TEAM BADASS (Rocket)." etc.

If you don't want to change the rules, another idea would be making a new forum, Beginning Hacks, which would address most of the problems nearly all hacks have:
    Terrible grammar/spelling
    Wrong use of tiles
    Non-edited random NPCs
    etc.

while encouraging people to create new maps/events at the same time. Only one Gym (with new events of course) would be required.
Yeah, that always gives such a good feeling of knowledge, and knowledge is power!

It's what I do, I am apparently the Analyser when it comes to things.
Eh, worse come to worse, you can always get help from others to insert music. At least that's an option.

Also, keeping order in forums can be much harder than a classroom, due to the fact you've got potentially thousands of people at once at some moments.
The only thing you need for mod 15 is that annoying oac... Whatever file, and Sappy 2006, then it's kinda like an update, copy and paste the mod16 to the same folder as Sappy 2006, and it should work.

It's kinda interesting. You may have heard of The Specials but only very vaguely, most known for Ghost Town which was a song about unemployment in the 80s, as well as Free Nelson Mandela (yet this was a version of The Specials which only had 2 of the original members). And that's good, I can imagine you as a teacher, I suppose being a moderator is good practice!
The rules for posting a hack in Progressing Hacks/Hacks Showcase seriously need to be a lot more strict.

Just for starters, there should have to be 15 original screens for Progressing and 30 for Showcase. Other rules need updating, too (I could do that).
It's easier with the mod 15 of Sappy, as I just save the track to replace as a MIDI, then using that template of instruments I kinda just copy and paste the music I want over it, and then transform it into a .s file and Assemble. If it sounds right, I go about preparing it to loop by making all tracks I want to loop the same length, and finding the bar and note where I want to loop back to. Then NotePad is used to open it, skip to the bar number (minus 1 due to it beginning at 0 not 1), add a name (like LOOP_1) at the point I want, go to the end of the track and add
    .byte GOTO
    .word LOOP_1
(I think), before it says .byte end, and repeat for all tracks. That's my way (I also posted it here so I remember what I did in order to do it to begin, it makes sense to me). Still need to do Voicegroups though...

I know what you mean about that. I'm the same, I'm thinking of going into teaching too, and my course allows me to be more flexible so I can teach Maths and/or Economics. So yay! And yeah, 2-Tone ska is a type of music, associated with Madness (earlier Madness albums anyway), The Specials and other bands you may not have heard of.
Turns out earlier I kinda lied about just doing Tile Inserting, as I am actually OK at Music Inserting (thought I'd have forgot all about it in the last few months, but apparently not), so yay!

And Irish, nice. If there was a high variety in History I may have took that instead, but the MORSE course does everything I want (Then again, I can't use my strange knowledge about the 2-Tone ska music scene that helped racial tension get eased in the UK... Ah well, could be used as some Music Economist job)
Exactly why I avoided it in A-Levels... Also due to dodgy hearing now and then which made the mock GCSE's fun as my left ear refused to work (gave me some of my best grades in music though...)

And yeah, it is quite numbery, and very strange as it is a pick 'n' mix of a course. The course is able to be tailored around individuals due to the ability to choose the modules you take (apart from the core ones), so most chances are, everyone will have different areas of specialisation.
hey, i submitted a thread a few days ago in the progressing hacks forum. i dont really care if it wasnt approved cause i didnt like the outcome so i decided to restart. anyways i wanted to know why it wasn't accepted so i can be able not to make the same mistake next time :)
More like DarkterFuji because when I say it I sound like Arnold Schwarzenegger, which is always acceptable.

    Too lazy :P
I'm Dark, therefore I have the advantage >:D

Kewl brah, do whatever you feel like Mr Jerk
I guessed it'd be in Ireland coz I'm psychic, and Irish and Music? Rather you than me, GCSE Music just about killed me for a B, I'd kill myself at uni standard.

Right, results are on the 16th (a week on Thursday), and my course is great. The MORSE course, which stands for...
    Maths
    Operational Research
    Statistics
    Economics
Fancy or what? Confusing actually as people forget what the letters stand for, or think it's a course about Morse code, or, bizarrely a course on Inspector Morse...
Hey, I noticed you voted for my hack in that competition. Just wanted to say thanks because I didn't think you would have because of the "personal reasons", I had been an idiot sometime during 2009-2011 calling newbies noobs and rom hacks created with tools edits and "hex editing is only way to do the job... blah blah blah...". So yeah... it's great to see you've changed your mind about me (or forgotten all that, whatever). These days, I know I'm one of the best hackers around but instead of insulting anybody, I'll try to teach beginners how to do things differently.

Some opening up but I felt like replying something to your message and then happened to write all this...
Exactly, exactly. Also, I can't be bothered to learn scripting any time soon. so sue me

All I know about my results is that if I haven't got an A* in Maths, my Maths teachers may kill me. That's not me bragging, that was a genuine threat.

Which uni are you at, anyway?
