Um, this is an annoying rules question that I'm posting here because I can't find a reasonable alternative :(
Basically, I want to fix up Pokémon Quartz but that violates the "significant code base" rule. Because the original creator (Baro) seems to have quit the Internet back in 2010 (and the hack is even older, it seems to be from 2005), contacting him for permission seems to be next to impossible.
Here are the issues with Quartz:
- The English is desperately in need of a grammar check in literally every sentence. Literally.
- The sprites are awful (I can't do any better, but they're still an issue).
- The plot makes absolutely no sense.
- Everyone is scary and 15+.
Can I post this fixed-up version if I re-do (or plan to re-do) every issue listed? There would be all-new dialogue (unless I missed something), the plot would be possibly subverted a bit and changed, the tileset is the Ruby default so I think keeping it is okay, and the scripting events are mostly unchanged from Ruby as well. It would be a re-make, basically, with the same premise. But it would be all made out of edits to the original, because I don't want to re-do the things that are okay (locations, special items etc.). This is why I'm asking - it would use the coding base of the original, but the original leaves most things unchanged anyway (battle system, tiles, events, most Poké-stats). I hope it can slip through some loophole, basically.
I know this is a bracket overload, but yeah. I need mod help for this.
EDIT: Well, confused noob me ended up making this a VM, having not noticed the PM system. Well, I'm sure the community's input will also be helpful *shrug*
