"It's tough to make the story as involving as I wanted because, as you probably know, doing stuff all by yourself takes a long time and tons of motivation (plus my ideas were complicated >_>)."
I know what you're saying here, I'm not that satisfied with everything in DE either. Simply because to make a brilliant hack, understanding programming (and even handling the processor language, assembly) is not enough. More than that, I think the most focus should be put into planning on what's gonna happen in every part of the game to fill out a completely new game from the original one.
But that's cool that I was actually wrong about that assumption there - no one is making me not to continue where I left off so I might just do that this or next week.
About Granaldo City, still in progress. I have finished the Granaldo Cave though (linked to the city), that was one heck of a job, not gonna lie (it was not the mapping but there is one extremely "complicated" event there).
So yeah, if you want, I could actually send you a rom file of the hack once I've finished creating the inn (I may do it tomorrow, we'll see). After that, it's still lacking the maps and events of the gym and research center.
The progress is going quite "slowly" (not really, fast actually) because there are so many events going on there, most of the time has gone into building everything from scratch. I have been improving parts in the beginning though so that has taken some time as well.
