I guess if I lived 30 miles away from somewhere, I wouldn't say I was from that bigger place. I had an American room-mate at university last year, and he would probably agree with you, but because the UK is so much smaller than Canada, 30 miles is comparatively a fair bit further away. I dunno... if you say you live in London to someone in the UK, they'll think you ACTUALLY live in London, as opposed to 'near' it or anything. (Sorry to keep going on about this!)
Congratulations on your job. British winters are definitely damp, but in terms of temperature, I can't imagine it being much different than Toronto. If anything, it might be slightly warmer, as we don't tend to get the icy chills. Global warming and whatnot.
Sky's cheaper if you want Sky TV (satellite television) as well as internet. TalkTalk is cheaper if you don't want Sky TV. Both have very similar broadband speeds and coverage, and equally crappy customer service. Take your pic.
