Minneapolis has 9 lakes in its city limits and Saint Paul has 7. None are as big as Lake Washington, though. And the largest lakes in the metro are all at a minimum 10 miles from either downtown. There are a hell of a lot of them in the area as well as a ton of both natural and manmade ponds and wetlands, but, again, none are anywhere near the size or engineering obstacle of Lake Washington. Our biggest, Lake Minnetonka is only about 23 square miles in surface area (and is composed of tons of bays and 2 main lake areas), while Lake Washington is about 34 square miles in surface area and is basically one large body of water with a large island on it.
Well, it's either Seattle or the Bay Area if you want a prestigious tech company name that everyone will recognize attached to your resume.
Though for non-tech jobs if you want to have a resume filled with Fortune 500 companies, Minneapolis is a better choice than Seattle since there's 16 to choose from versus 10.
