  • Who knew that stealing a hat could get you put on a bandit's 'most wanted' list, having you and a new friend kidnapped, escaping with both your new buddy and an old one you thought was dead, running into a forest, being picked up by a group of strangers, getting shot and discovering that there's actually a modern, unharmed civilisation in the middle of the country... I could go on. He did a lot after that.

Or were you laughing about the top-hat wearing, Mothim talking psycopath? They both had their laughable moments.

Makes perfect sense. I remember last time I was here Ichiro did a superhero esque roleplay. My character was an electricity manipulator who couldn't control electricity. ;D He got the hang of it as things went by, but he spent a whole lot of time trying to launch lightning bolts from his hands.
Haha nooooo, we're not friends on FB (but we should be!)

I was stalking through the old OLD picture thread and stumbled across you XD
    Young characters are silly. :3

I don't have many general character. Some share similarities, but I consider that more to be adapting and growing the original idea. But yes, playing some less sensible characters can be very fun. One I played in a post apocalyptic setting was just like that. Not exactly the safest disposition to have, but he was very fun to play. It was very character based, and my character's childish nature set up the majority of the story on his side of the roleplay. ;D

And one I played here. Quite grim and mistrusting, but intelligent and a bit of a bad ass. Similar to your first one, I suppose... and he wore a suit and top hat, which is always fun. And he had frequent conversations with a Mothim that had become a voice inside his head. Fun.
Posted the start of my character on the thread. Have yet to do the roleplay sample, however.

I haven't seen the film, but I have read the book. Can't compare the two, really, although I've been told that the book is much better as is usually the case. Everyone loves a good conspiracy.

My male characters tend to be cheerful and a little lacking in common sense, although that's mostly because one of the first roleplaying characters I can remember was like that and I like to keep the memory of him nice and fresh. Names change but the disposition usually stays the same. He's fun to play. The character I'm making in Pandora certainly isn't him. She's more refined and sensible (an archetype I don't often play)... but Peter Parker. <3

Names can be fun in some settings. Fantasy settings for example allow you to try something more exotic and interesting, as do sci-fis. T'is one of the many reasons I usually play those.
As I said, it was just a thought. I don't have any preference towards doing that than I do from coming from overseas. I do suppose you have a point though. There's not much Laughner can give to the people of the island in exchange for their cooperation since he wants it to be a fair race. No problem of course.

I have done the appearance, name and chosen Pokemon of my character. Now onto Roleplay sample. It might take a day or two, since I'm plenty busy tomorrow. Hopefully you don't mind... Spoink is so adorable. <3

The main character from the Da Vinci Code. Robert Langdon. I thought the similar last names and the love of ancient things (even if Laughner's seems more focused on the money than the knowledge) might have been some kind of connection.

But yeah, names can be a pain. I went through a period of time when I alternated between two first names because I didn't like any others. D: I've gotten better now though. I think that women's names are easier to come up with than men's names, however.
You're very good at this. :3

And I was wondering... should my character, assuming I am accepted of course, be one brought in from another region or is there any chance of her being one of the few who have already settled on Pandora? Fine with either, but it was just something that came to mind. She'd have only been there for eight weeks, but I can imagine that Laughner might see that as some kind of home-field advantage.

I can't help but feel like Laughner is a reference to Langdon, although there's probably nothing connecting them at all. xD
EVEN WITH CRUISE CONTROL YOU STILL HAVE TO STEER

Oh, and the last three characters also have their links wrong, although one of them I had mentioned yesterday. Even I'm not that clumsy. ;)
THEY DIDN'T FLING THEIR POO OR STAY IN A PEN, BUT THEY STOLE SUITS AND WORE THEM LIKE MENNNN.

    YOU SASSY FIEND.
Possible, but just plain awkward to do.

Well, I think I'll make a start on my character, assuming you're happy to take one more... you did suggest me joining, after all. Fingers crossed I'm not horrific at this. ^^
Shame. It'd probably be quite complicated changing both this profile's username and my other's though.

I haven't read the IC yet, but that settles one thing to the side. I've always thought that a lot of roleplayers in one space made a roleplay cluttered and difficult to follow. Splitting the groups can certainly help that.

T'is no problem. I noticed it when weighing up the competition. >=D
