  • I'm using a developing environment called devkitPro and the actually coding is done in C. I've been piling information together from various tutorials on gbadev.org and around the Internet until today when I discovered that this guy wrote a book on GBA Programming and he posted all of the chapters, tools, and programs in the book on his website. The guy who wrote it obviously knows what he's talking about which is nice because I didn't get that feeling with a lot of the tutorials I read by amateur developers (which, frankly, is what I am at this point).

gotta go eat dinner. I can't say why the ROM didn't work for you but try 1) deleting the save file that it created 2) switching from 64k to 128k or vice versa or 3) downloading the file again. k gotta go
Aw, shucks. You're too kind. :)
In reality, the actual 3D effect itself took a couple minutes to code. It was getting the graphics to load correctly that took the better part of, well, the entire day pretty much. The source code for this particular program was considerably shorter than the last one but I think the finished product is a lot more enjoyable to look at.
Alright I'm done. Hopefully this one works better for you than the last one. Here it is. It's a test of a concept called "parallax" which, as you'll see, means that things in the foreground move faster than those in the background. Just use the right and left arrow keys to move the camera. Enjoy!
Is this a school project that you're working on? Because if it is, I don't want to distract you.

Well, I recently discovered how you can scroll tiled backgrounds which is a HUGE step towards creating a fully functioning overworld environment. It's really, really complicated and I probably can't explain it all in one VM. Anyways, I'm basically fooling around with the scrolling thing right now and creating a cool 3D effect which you'll see soon. Well not very soon but yeah.
I never got a VM after the lucid dream one. Oh well, I'm sure it was a good one. :)
If you hang on for another hour or two, I might have the next, super special awesome installment in my GBA development saga.
I'm aware your name isn't blue anymore. I noticed that my signature was "outdated" a while ago but I like to keep it the way it is as an homage to the old days.
Just checking, because when you quit you said something about not having a blog any more. :D
