    New, but bad topic.

    Why do you write fan-fiction?

Because the original isn't good enough and it is good for me! Seriously, I became less angry after writing fan-fiction on my own time.

    Why do you write fan-fiction?

It's the reason I joined the fandom, actually. Another forum was having a fanfic contest, and n00by!me was like 'OMGOMGLOL writing sure why tf not?' So I joined, entered and lost. But it was fun. I RPed for a while, but I always came back to the fanfiction section. Then I came over to PC, and you guys here are much nicer than that other fanfiction section. :3 So I'm staying.

Fiiuu, activity's been sprouting around here. ._.

    Why do you write fan-fiction?

For the pure passion for the written word, and also a way to relieve many, but MANY ideas that probably wouldn't be enough or are trademarks to make a book of somewhat. I also do it due to the desperate - and morbid, if I may add - need a person has to see characters in situations they simply know they wouldn't put in any case.

What kind of setting do you like to use in your fics? Time, Social, Place it doesn't really matter at all.

Mostly, I go for something like a modern - post-modern setting, usually reflecting a real world one.

Also, the "Da Vinci" thing out of Pokémon that Royal Genesis pointed out is... Wow. ._.

    Why do you write fan-fiction?
It's the anime's fault. Watching it fail epically, I said to myself, I said, "Elite, you know that even you, with your complete lack of literary skills outside of proper grammar, and with your complete disinterest in almost anything literature, even someone like you could write a better Pokemon adventure than these hacks." And thus I wrote a fan-fiction.

And now, because it is my glorious 84th birthday...
Your fan-fic character(s) are celebrating a birthday today! What do they want?
Lisa would want some vintage Buicks (or equivalent vehicles) to add to her fledgling classic car collection. Also, gift certificates to Quality Inns and casual dining restaurants. Maybe a laptop computer or graphing calculator or two.

Oh, I have one of those graphing calculators. They're awesome. :3 I've had it for a year, and I'm still learning the features. It came with a manual that was the size of a decent-length novel, and I just tl;dr'd it. @_@

EDIT: Yay, double Blue themes! :3

I felt obliged to answer this question for some reason. lol. Let's see. I'm going to answer this one for Rex. On his twenty second birthday he'll probably want an trampoline, a keg of beer, and a pool all in one place. >_< Use your imagination from there. ;p

    Neo - a full pokedex
    Coball - unlimited power
    Sarina - Neo
Apollo - To not have hair like lead.

    Why do you write fan-fiction?
    It's an easy question. XD
I write because I can write. All those dreams and ideas in my head that are just bursting at the seams need an outlet. Also, watching cliches and soap operas have also made me contemplate how they could ever show this garbage on TV, I can write better scripts than this. And also, I don't have anywhere else to release my creativity, apart from graffiti but that's illegal. XD

Your fan-fic character(s) are celebrating a birthday today! What do they want?
Phaiel: I don't believe he'd enjoy presents seeing as he's a Nihilist. Well, maybe a collection of Dr. Who DVDs or Isaac Asimov books...

Kana: A collection of Manga or Anime would really make for an enjoyable read. Other than that, a Chevrolet. XD

Sebastian(I'm planning to use in the future): Encyclopedia Brittanica, A Complete Pokedex, a laptop computer, and to pass Law School. XD

(I should answer my own question)
What kind of setting do you like to use in your fics? Time, Social, Place it doesn't really matter at all.
    Place
A modern snowy mountain military complex complete with nuclear silo and comfortable living quarters with a view of the mountains and the rising sun.
(Briggs Mountain Range Military Base, Amestris)
    FMA reference ftw. XD

    Time
Modern, Industrial Revolution era, or Futuristic Dystopia.
    @Royal Genesis' post
Alright kids, strap yourself the **** in.
    i'M FLYIN' THIS BABY
    TO DA MOOOOON

"The real purpose of Pokemon Centers is not to heal Pokemon, but to stunt their growth."

Think about it. It's eminently clear that Pokemon in the wild grow and evolve much faster than tame Pokemon. What do all trained Pokemon have in common? Inevitably, trainers have to bring their Pokemon to Nurse Joy for healing — treatment which is suspiciously free, which must mean it is subsidized by the government. Indeed, almost everything happening in that world is the result of a Goverment conspiricy to deal with the existence of creatures of such incredible power. The idea of letting kids run around the country battling wild animals is a way of keeping the Pokemon population from growing too powerful. But that opens the door to Pokemon trainers directing their powerful pets against the government; hence, Pokemon Centers inject the Pokemon they treat with chemicals to inhibit their growth, and the sport of trainer battles — essentially legalized cockfighting — is formalized as a distraction from the true potential of Pokemon.

Pokémon Battles were designed just so Trainers would be forced to go to Pokémon Centers.

Alternatively, the Pokemon have, by and large, gotten into the habit of holding back, especially around humans, with the intent of preventing serious injury or worse. This explains the exceptions much better - the most obvious being the Genetic Pokemon Mewtwo, who in the first movie is clearly shown fighting over and over (and thus getting healed over and over) but still displaying disproportionately high power.

In Diamond/Pearl, it's actually *canon* that Poke Balls act as a Power limiter. Team Galactic needed a special device in order to control Dialga/Palkia at full power. If they had used a Poke Ball, it wouldn't have been able to create a new universe for them.
    Wow, just, wow... XD

    Also, a new question
If you could pick any character from any of your current or soon to be fics as a recurring character in one-shots or the like, who would they be?

Just a quick question, didn't see a FFFAQ out there: How would you describe May's hair?
Lulz, I'm not sure how she gets hair like that but I suppose I can describe.

Shoulder length, brown hair which parts from the back and to the sides of her head.

Her hair is weird, I can't even call them pony tails. XD

This is as best as I can do because I don't watch the anime often. Also, I've never seen her without her bandanna off. Anyone else got any ideas? Although, there's usually not much need to describe a canon character in detail when writing fanfiction. That's what I've heard anyway, unless you're doing an expository scene.

The bandanna does nothing apparently. Thanks for the idea, I'll wait for more input.
The May I'm using is the one from the games and the story isn't based on the anime (which is a hyper-popular tv show in my canon), so it would be awkward to not describe her.

It's kinda hard to describe anime hair as it goes all over the place. XD

Seconded, although some people do demand the complete description (whether its a canon or not), but there's really not a big necessity - that is, if the character didn't change from the game/anime it was taken from.

I did include May in Nightmare, but she was wearing the Emerald heroine's clothing, so it was an easy description to dodge. :D

Yah, the bandana does nothing. I've seen her without it on multiple times *watches too much Advance Generation*, and unless she brushes it out (for a Contest or somthing) it stays the same.

There might even be a million descriptions of her hair in the various shipping fics (among other things) XD

Though I'd err to caution as some may be less innocent than others.

Isn't it a red bandana that has a pokeball-like symbol on it? *too lazy to look up google, plus the fact I am at school, so I don't want to seem as a weirdo, looking up anime pics XD

If you could pick any character from any of your current or soon to be fics as a recurring character in one-shots or the like, who would they be?

Well I have a character in mind that I wish to make a fic out of, but several one shots are indeed plausible.

What sets you in the mood to write?

Myself, I have a sudden willingness to write it, or continue because of an idea. Though often (especially if it was just willingness)... well I don't carry through. XD

Plus, having to write essays puts me off a bit too. That and being busy. It would seem that even a day off from school or work doesn't do it for me to continue writing.

Probably my best factor to continue writing is if I tell someone I will write.

I've never seen May without the bandanna. But then again, I don't watch Pokemon much as the last time was a few months back. XD

I think it's a green bandanna in the anime. XD

What sets you in the mood to write?
When I'm not feeling lazy, I'll write. When I feel motivated, I'll write. XD, which makes me pretty inconsistent.

Only when she appears during the Wallace Cup, along with the rest if her Emerald outfit (and a new VA, blah.) It makes her look oddly skinny imo. During AG, she's got the R/S outfit, all in red.
I see, as I've said before, I don't watch the anime because they don't show it in Malaysia and I can't be bothered with downloading hundreds of episodes. XD

Still, I used to love the anime, till they changed Ash's VA. Then it just sounded odd. I guess if I watched more I'd get used to it. XD
