  • What value do you have in debating if you view opinions that don't agree with yours as "wrong"? I don't care if you believe in something or another but it's pretty clear that you're fairly intolerant to what I have to say.

That's an extremely bigoted thing to say, and reflects poorly on your character, especially when I have repeatedly tried to be reasonable with you.
So I can basically call you whatever I want? Cool! #$%#! $%#$%#$! #$%#$! Wait, why are you upset? I mean, I didn't mean it as a slight. That's your own fault for being offended. lol

See, this is why this doesn't work. It just makes you look like an insufferable jerk.

And it's honestly making you look really, really bad. I understand that you're upset, but this is not an excuse, you are a representative of this site's staff, you can't just act like you can magically pretend things that possibly offended people are suddenly their fault because "oopsie I didn't mean it that way!"

Except I never said that, I said

It's pretty clear that I'm offended by your statement, which heavily implies that I believe that gender equality is some "communist liberal lie", which is something a lot of very staunch conservatives say about certain things. It is highly suggestive that you were comparing me to a staunch conservative, which, based on your opinions on many things, is not a desirable thing to be in your eyes.

I basically called you a leek (as a joke) and called you out for making assumptions over the internet. Yes, I did say "you basically believe that all people you disagree with are those naughty conservatives", which, if not a response to an insult, would definitely be inflaming a situation for no reason, but it is a response to something I clearly perceived as an insult - of course people are going to respond aggressively when you make such a clear defamation of character - regardless of whether or not you intended so or not.

But since you didn't mean it, that conveniently revokes you of guilt and means that I'm just the big bad wolf of the D&D.

Also, the situation wasn't exactly "inflamed" for the 3 or 4 posts I had before. It was arguably your post that set the situation off, it's pretty clear that your entire post is aggressive. If you want to interpret the phrase "like what" in my first response to you as an offensive strike to your character or inflammation, you can, but it's a question that deserves to be answered, since your explanation is literally 2 sentences long, which deserves elaboration. My response to Magic, which is quite long, does not decry their character, except where they messes up in their post (such as not providing the source for "ONE IN SIX WOMEN ARE RAPED IN THEIR LIFE"). I attempt to end my post by stating that I have nothing against Magic but that their post is heavily influenced by their own experiences, and that they may feel more inclined to feel a certain way than me due to those experiences.

Well if that is you when you're not heated you must be a pretty interesting individual to be around.

Like I said before, it seems like you're taking things pretty personally - yes, you screwed up with how you approached me, but it's more your attempts at dodging guilt that are more problematic than the act itself at this point.
There's a saying my mom told me, it goes a little like this.

"If the audience isn't laughing, then maybe your joke wasn't very funny".

Basically, if you say something and people get offended by it, you can't just backpedal and claim, "oh noes, I didn't mean it like that!". The person was already offended. Most people would interpret your statement in a similar manner, and, as you like to label posts you feel break the rules, "noncontributory, disruptive".

Actually, no I don't. I've been pretty calm and reserved in the last 5 months. Most of the heat comes from other people not agreeing with me. I will admit that I am very persistent, but this is because I believe that it is respectful to address each individual point made instead of labeling half of a post that I disagree with as "gibberish", which is also pretty immature.

oh my god, it's a joke, my avatar is farfetch'd, did you seriously take that insult seriously

I censored my original language and thought "leek" would be pretty clever because I'm a farfetch'd and all, but I guess you weren't exactly able to see that. I thought it was clever :(

I can sometimes call someone an idiot, but my argument never relies on just saying mean things to people. I'm a bit of a sarcastic person, I aim to make my words mildly entertaining since otherwise I write drier than a desert. Please give me one post in the last 6 months that actually shows me relying simply on calling someone an idiot for an actual response in these threads.

Such as what? If I'm using them, then you should call them out and dismantle them. People make mistakes after all, and I do make corrections when necessary.

Actually, it's pretty clear that you're the one who's pretty riled up right now. I'm serious, I think it's affecting your judgement slightly, I think a big part of the problem here is that I'm not particularly emotionally invested (outside of the part about quotas, that's a personal jiff for me that when I hear I wanna slap someone in the face with) but others are. It's pretty clear that you are heavily embroiled in this subject and sometimes, that can make people who disagree with you come off as very unreasonable.

Most of the time, I'm criticizing debate fallacies, instead of providing much of an opinion, or attempting to encourage different thoughts. I find that typically people who disagree with me find my arguments loaded with fallacies but people who agree with me finding such discussions as encouraging or even uplifting - which kind of says a lot about both sides. I wouldn't call it trolling, I do enjoy debate, but I find that people get very personally invested in stuff here and that can make them make some pretty poor judgements.

I mean, all I asked you to do was to apologize for being quite rude to me in the thread and you basically played a bunch of mental gymnastics to put it back on my lap. You should take responsibility for your mistakes and move on, that's all I honestly want from you. You can continue to embarrass yourself by getting extremely heated and not taking responsibility for the fact that you maybe made someone a bit annoyed from something, that's your choice and your choice alone.
    ...

And what do you think you are implying here?

It's pretty clear that this is intended as an insult. I understand that you disagree with me, and you have every right to, but you're being extremely immature. You are a super moderator, please act like one.
Like I know, I'm just saying there's literally nothing to that thread. lol.

I honestly really don't like threads like that because there's 0 room for discussion. I know it's partially my fault but it's very jarring when a thread derails in the first few posts because they're literally no discussion for it. It's basically "that's crazy" or "that's dumb" and that's basically the summary of all posts that are in that thread that weren't off topic. D&D has kind of felt lately less "discussion" like and more "look at this crazy thing that happened" like area, which is kind of a bummer.

I dunno, I've tried to throw in a few discussions that have a little bit of talking room but they were ignored or petered out too fast, it's kind of depressing.

I mean it's not your fault or anything obviously but it's pretty disappointing; even if it's something some people may feel strongly about there's absolutely no room for discussion because only the most fringe of individuals would support something so stupid.
Granted though, there isn't really much to this topic other than "WOW THAT'S DUMB I CAN'T BELIEVE PEOPLE ACTUALLY DO THIS". This topic doesn't exactly have much running power even starting from the OP. At least the amendments thread has discussion potential.
I feel like the wait is longer for Netflix, but you don't really notice as much. I definitely didn't feel like Orange is the New had a long wait, but hey.

And I really need to start HoC. I haven't even started it.
Yeah it was especially busy with the traffic here. Why can't I pick up half of the people in this town and stick them somewhere else. D:
    It's gonna be below the 30s in a few more days. I don't have any good coats. I'm a Floridian. ;-;
Yeah, but I like how Netflix releases them. All at once is just much more convenient. I'd be curious to see what their turnover is for seasons. Like...if 10 million people watch the first episode, how many watch all ten? Different model than regular television. :P
