It's you who truly are kind. I remember during the holiday season you reached out to me when I was down. I felt overwhelmed trying to make ends meet and under pessure to come up with money for nice Christmas presents, and during that time you sent me a thoughtful pm, telling me that you had been in this situation before, and letting me know that I wasn't alone. You gave me that virtual hug, and reminded me of what was most important about Christmas, a time for loving each other. Thank you for that.
One of the reasons I really wanted to see you modded was because of how much positivity and warmth you radiate, and how supportive you are of others efforts. I was honestly overjoyed when I saw you had applied.
I think you are wise to ease yourself gently into the role, because you need to get oriented. I hope these first couple of days haven't been too dizzying. A lot of information is coming at you at once, and if it were me I might feel daunted on day 1 to see lists of ideas and suggestions, and get so many discord pings and meet lots of different people for the first time. Everybody's just so excited right now I think, and eager to be of help, and the team is anxious to welcome Aaron back too since he is returning to staff.
You do what you are most comfortable with. I am someone who takes things slowly as well. Every moderator has their own style and ideas about their role, and you have to at the end of the day find the best approach for yourself. We can offer advice that you may be interested in, ultimately though, you have freedom to sort things out for yourself too. I think you naturally have the right instincts, and what I have seen you doing just on your own here these last months as you enjoy the forum recreationally was valuable service to the community, and better than many of us do as mods. Just be who you are, that is enough. Now get out there and have fun!
