  • Well, apparently, a new Sony smartphone has been spotted in GFXBench with the codename that looks familiar for us Pokémon fans: Pikachu, the most famous and iconic Pokémon among them all. And yeah, you're not seeing things regarding the codename department. Apparently the Pikachu smartphone will have 5 inch HD display, and it's powered by MediaTek MT6757 Helio P20 SoC with octa-core 2.3GHz processor in it. Oh, and it runs Android Nougat, too. Some may suspect that it's possibly the leaked Sony G3112, but we'll see what will unveil soon.

What do you think of this smartphone with peculiar and interesting codename in it?

  • I wonder how they got permission to use that codename because like you know, Sony competes against Nintendo on the console market.

  • When you want to use a copyrighted name on something you don't own, yes.

but if it's a codename I'm assuming it's only going to be used internally and during development, so would they need a licence for that? Or is this one of copyright law's many grey areas?
