The Shattered Era: OOC [T]

GMed by Greiger and Sir Bastian

Five hundred years have passed since humans have walked the earth. Pokemon rose up as the leaders of the world and at first they sought to create their own unique world. They turned away from the machines that human kind had embraced and created their own communities. By uniting together towns and cities were created in the new world and the pokemon rejoiced. As the years passed the humans and their cities remained forgotten, buried under the earth and seemingly lost forever.

Fate however had different plans for the human's legacy. During a rather violent earthquake one of these cities happened to be found under a small village near the Rune desert. The villagers were puzzled at first and many decreed the city to house demons and that by entering it they would all die. One lone Zigzagoon worked up the courage to enter a red building and was amazed at what he saw. All sorts of trinkets and strange objects adorned the room and caused the young pokemon's curiosity to swell.

Every night he snuck out to attempt to figure out what the items could be used for and after a while his trusted friends also grew curious. They would journey with him to the strange city and it was by accident that a Jolteon powered up the building temporarily. The blinding lights weren't enough to turn the young one's away and so they explored the strange building in and out. It was when they tampered with a computer that they discovered a more amazing secret. There had been a strange being that had been living in the computer, one that came out and wondered where it was. The children had never seen a pokemon like this before and as they inquired about what this building was they were bombarded with information regarding a entirely different civilization. One where there were strange beings who had built large cities. One where there was always an abundance of food. One where there was peace.

Deciding this information was for all to know, the young mon led the being known as a Porygon out to their village where the news of this ancient civilzation began to spread out. Many curious pilgrems journeyed to the village and heard the tales of a world that was now buried under their cities. It was then that different viewpoints began to emerge. Many looked to the Porygon as a godlike being, others claimed him to be a blasphemer, and yet others truly listend to him and began their own search for similar towns hidden under the earth.

The news eventually reached the ears of the Council of Five, a council made up of old, wise pokemon that ensured peace reigned in their land. Greatly concerned by the discovery the Council sent a group of knights to learn more about this Porygon and the world he talked about. The Coucil grew uneasy as more and more pokemon looked to this Porygon as a god and so, to ensure that the world's populace worshiped the one true Arceus, the Council sent in a team of knights to capture the Porygon and close off the ruins of the city.

The plan worked... to an extent. The Porygon was captured, but the knights hadn't managed to destroy every machine. The Zigzagoon and his allies had seen the knights enter the city to find the Porygon and with their own initative the set about to carry away as many objects as they could. The knights soon brought the Porygon to the Council who quickly deemed their prisoner as being guilty of heresy, a crime punishable by death.

On the second of Amos, the Porygon was slain. There were those that just spat at the corpse, those that looked on with disinterest, and those that mourned the loss. This started the first crack in the Council's foundation. A new organization began to rise, an organization that stayed within the shadows. This grop of pokemon yearned to learn more of this ancient world and so they scattered themselves around the continent in an attempt to find these hidden cities... and they were successful. As more and more cities were uncovered these explorers ended up finding more Porygons. Knowing that the Council would very well kill these innocent mon off the explorers stayed in these ruined cities. They patched up the buildings and worked to design caverns to hide the cities in.

Under the Council's own nose a network of computers began to form. Termed 'The Undergournd' this network was one that could not be stopped. It reached all over the region as more and more cities were discovered. As the Mechanists' forces grew, a civil clash was inevitable.... and two hundred years ago it happened. Claiming to be working to free themselves from the tyranny of the Council and knights the Mechanists used their machines to attack the Council and end the control they had over the land.

Likewise the Council retaliated by sending knights out to destroy the cities the Mechanists lived in. As the war continued the Mechanists suffered heavy losses and so they conceded to a truce with the Council. They would retreat to their underground cities and never show themselves in the light of day again. The Council in turn would not seek them out. With the truce signed the Mechanists hid in their underground cities... at least until now.

Last week... a city was breached. With their tactical network in play the other cities were only able to watch as Vermillion was sieged by knights with countless inhabitants slaughtered. The various leaders of the Mechanists have called a meeting to take place in Saffron regarding the recent breach. At that same moment a celebration is being held in the cities as the council reports to their citizens that the deadly Mechanists who just recently attacked a village were defeated and forced to pay for their crimes.

The tension is think on both sides, and it's inevitable that war will happen again, only this time it will be a lot bloodier.

Choosing a faction

There are two sides to this war and each faction is persistant in taking down the other.

The Knights of the Oran

The Knights are the Council's weapon of choice. Trained ever since birth the Knights are considered some of the most powerful pokemon on the planet. They can take on multiple opponents and not even break a sweat. Because they are employed by the Council they act as the police presence throughout the land and will not to hesitate to attack or arrest those that the Council declares as a threat to their cities. The Knights are highly religious due to the Council's laws dictating that each and every pokemon must worship Arceus and be forced to live their lives according to the writings in their holy tome. All Knights must pray to Arceus as well as a Legendary including one of the following: Suicune, Entei, Raikou, Ho-oh, Moltres, Zapados, Articuno, and Lugia.

The Knights have a strong prejudice against machinery and will opt to destroy rather than use it, even if it has a beneficial use. While females are accepted to be trained as knights they are considered weaker than males and will never attain high positions of power. There have never been any female Council members and no females are in charge of businesses in the Council's cities. Those living in the Council's lands wear no clothes of any kind since the Council believes that pokemon must live as they came into the world (The only exceptions are if a pokemon's look naturally includes clothes and the Knights who are allowed to wear armor.). The most respected Council member is the Orator who is the only pokemon on the council to abolish laws.

The Knights have a code of honor that they follow:

1. The Council is the law and authority or the land and all orders from them must be obeyed to the fullest degree
2. Any pokemon caught or suspected of breaking any laws that the Council has placed will be swiftly arrested
3. A good knight never questions any order that the Council gives
4. A Knight must show compassion, bravery, honesty, empathy, chivalry, and mercy to all but their enemies
5. A Knight may use no weapon other than those that Arceus has gifted them with
6. All Knights must wear the Gem of Knighthood (A green gem that is often worn around the neck).
7. The Orator is the highest voice in the Council. Knights must always follow his orders even if those orders conflict with the Council's.
8. (Recently added) A Knight must cover himself in armor to be protected from his opponents in battle. (The armor can be of any color and any weight but the armor must include the symbol of the knighthood on the front, an oran berry.)

Breaking any of the code could prove hazardous to a knight. Why would a knight show disobedience to the Council unless he himself is a risk to the Council…

The Declarum Forces

The Mechanists are an order two hundred years in the making. Their founder, Leonar Zolan, is credited with starting the Mechanist movement and thus they have a yearly holiday to celebrate his life. Due to their life within these cities (often referred to as enclaves by the residents themselves) they have a vastly different outlook on life from those that live above ground. Many Mechanists hold the belief that there should be equality among genders. Women are allowed to hold positions of political power and be taught the art of battling. Instead of restricting themselves to healing moves there are Mechanists who have mastered the art of using the healing centers that are inside the pokecenters and learned how to effectively use and make potions.

Not only that, but evolutions that had never been heard of now exist within the Mechanist's ranks. Items such as Dubious disks, Electrilizers, and other such man made objects exist within their cities, and for cheap prices too given their limited use to only specific pokemon!

The religious atmosphere within the enclaves allows far more freedom than the Council does. Every legendary from Arceus to even commonly depicted evil mon such as Darkrai are allowed to be worshipped and there are some that refuse to believe in the legendaries.

Players allied with the Mechanists will be part of the Declarum Forces, a group of Mechanists trained in the art of using human weaponry and armor. Unlike the Knights the Declarum forces have no true protective gear and instead rely on their unique weaponry to push back any enemies they encounter. Thought they have many advantages, they lack a knights strategy and intensive training. Not only that but due to their abscence from the world they are... not well trained with fighting against powerful opponents such as the knights.

There are two types of Mechanists that exist in the general populace and the DF. Entrenched Mechanists have lived in the enclaves since birth and have no knowledge of the outside world. Newborn Mechanists have lived in the cities, but have fled from the knights and Council to live in the enclaves. Such traitors are usually killed before they can make it to the enclaves and the few that make it suffer from an intense culture clash of having no freedoms to having too many freedoms.

The Declarum Forces act as the police force of the enclaves as well as the soldiers that fight against the Knights of the Oran.

Tech that Declarum Forces are usually equipped with:

• Magnetic compass to find enclaves under the ground
• Watches
• Cellular Phones
• Flashlights
• Binoculars
• Flares
• Medicine (Declarum Forces have access to all types of medicine.)

Only one human weapon has been found but the Declarum Forces have created their own weapons and even have replicated a few human weapons from blueprints.

• Boom Stick – A small gun-like contraption that will shoot out high concentrations of air that create a 'boom' sound. Holding down the trigger for longer periods of time will send out more powerful gusts of air and holding it down for maximum power can cause some lighter weighted pokemon to be thrown back due to the sheer force of air. The boom stick's main use is to daze an opponent's senses long enough to run away. (Due to the Tremont incident fifty years ago all booms sticks now have a warning label printed on them: When handling the boom stick do not press or hold the opening of the boom stick anywhere near the face or ears. Triggering the boom stick under these conditions can result in: blindness, loss of hearing, loss of bladder control, confusion, dizziness, short-term memory loss, black outs, slurred speech, chest pain, migraines, headaches, nausea. If you or anyone else is stupid enough to not heed these warnings and display these symptoms please contact medical personal immediately.)

• Flamethrower – Based on human design the flamethrower is composed of a long metal tube connected to a metal tank that the user wears on their back. The tube spits out flame for as long as the user holds down the trigger and will stop only upon release of the trigger or until the gasoline in the holding tank is depleted. Those who do use flamethrowers often have to wear a full bodysuit with helmet to protect themselves against the intensity of the heat. Only fire-types are able to handle flamethrowers without fear of overheating. It's effective against grass and steel types.

• Water Gun – A human child's toy that has been reengineered into a weapon. Water is poured into the tank on the gun and when pumped will shoot out water at the target. The more times it is pumped the longer the distance the water is squirted out. Extremely effective against rock and fire types.

• Sleeping Pellets – Small sphere shaped pellets that when thrown will emit sleeping gas when it comes into contact with any hard surface.

• Poison Pellets – Bears the same design and activation as sleeping pellets but will emit toxic gases instead. Will not affect poison types.

• Shock Gun - A gun that will shoot out electrical bolts at the target and is powered by a hand sized battery. Each gun has the capacity of shooting out 100 'shots'. The longer the trigger is held the higher the voltage of the shot but it also uses up more of the battery than a regular 'shot'. Electric types have the advantage of recharging their battery with electric powered attacks. It's effective against flying and water types and ineffective against rock types.

• Tear Gas Pellets – Bears the same design and activation as sleeping pellets but will emit gas that will burn the eyes, nose, and throat of any caught in the gas reducing accuracy and may inflict temporary blindness.

The Mechanists are able to modify their weapons to better suit their body structure. Want to use a gun but you don't have fingers? Just modify it to suit your body type! They're techies, they know their weapons inside and out.

Jobs

If you are a member of the Knights of the Oran

Knight of the Oran – A regular Knight raised from birth. Their main duty is to follow the orders of the Council . They serve under the Knight-Commanders.

Demolisher – Demolishers are civilians that have eagerly offered their services to the Council to combat the Mechanists. While they are not as battle hardy as the Knights they prove themselves in their field of expertise, the total destruction of any mechanical object they come across. From the few machines that have been confiscated they have learned how to safely destroy the machines without being electrocuted or having the machine blow up. The Demolishers have also been taught how to disarm their opponents in battle and how to destroy their weapons. Since they are allied with the Knights they too are required to follow the Knight's honor code.

Knight-Commander – A Knight that has risen to an elite status. They have proved themselves on the battlefield through brute power and strategy and have been given the task of leading their fellow Knights in battle. (One spot open.)

If you are a member of the Declarum Forces

Field Technician – A Mechanist that understands all weapons inside and out. A field tech is able to not only modify his weapons for increased damage but is also able to modify newly acquired weapons to fit any body type. The field technician is also able to fix malfunctioning weapons in no time at all.

Medic – A medic understands the art and science of making potions and super potions. Medic's are not usually trained for head to head combat and prefer to stay on the sidelines.

Declarum Forces soldier – A typical pokemon that has been trained in using a weapon or two to fight off the Knights. By themselves they are as weak as the lowest ranked knight, but thanks to their machines they are able to hold their own in battle.

Rules

• SB and I are the GMs of this role play; that means our word is law. If you have any disputes with my decisions, please send either of us a PM.
• There will be no god modding allowed on any level. If you god mod we will inform you. If you continue to god mod in spite of our warnings then we will dismiss you from the roleplay.
• Bunnying will only be allowed if you have cleared it with another player. If you do clear it please send me a PM or VM to notify us so we don't call out the other player. If you do bunny someone without permission we will notify you. If you continually bunny the other players in spite of my warnings then we will dismiss you from the roleplay.
• Players are expected to post at least once every week. If you have some external circumstance that will prevent you from doing this please PM one of us. We want to make sure that this RP flows smoothly for all players.
• This RP is rated Teen. That means that while there will be blood and gore you won't be able to go into too much detail. For those seeking romance there will be nothing beyond kissing. Cussing will be allowed (after all what will a guy say if his leg breaks during battle? Fudge?), but don't layer your posts with them!
• Don't harass other players. If we see that kind of behavior on the OOC thread then we will dictate a strike to the instigator. Two strikes and you're out!

Alrighty! With the OOC thread now up, I shall toss in my SU for Caedmon Yeonart, the second-in-command of the Knights. This doesn't mean there're only three spots for Knights, basically look at me as an extra :P

I'm currently working on getting some nice formatting for the post itself, since it's stretching all over the place and just plain text doesn't look interesting.

If any of you guys are good at using HTML code and you felt you had time, I wouldn't mind if you made some kind of format for it, but it's not something you have to do :P

You mean the opening post for this thread? Just wrap
tags once or twice around the whole text and it helps a lot :3 Or did you mean our SUs?

*yawns as he's just awoken and just breezes through looking all the posts* Yeah, uh... reserved reserved, yadda yadda. Get those SUs up and all that good stuff. For those interested in how many spots we have left I'll be adding a reservation section in the first post. As stated you have five days to complete your SU, so get cracking. :P

Well, I would cheat and resubmit my Finnigan "Spike Driver" Stark sign up, but I feel something else is calling me: I want to be a Knight of Oran! (Also Songbird got dibs on Knight-Commander xP) Reserve me as a knight?

*Blinks* Uh... so calculating everything, we have one spot left that can be reserved for the Knights. Now that doesn't mean it's set in stone, so pay attention! Once you guys submit a SU, Bastian and I will look it over and give you an answer. You don't have to look specifically for my answer, Bastian is more than capable of judging your SU for himself. Once you get your SUs down look for either of our posts and whether we accept you or not.

Edit 1: I KNEW I forgot something. Everyone, please check the SU format again. I forgot previously to add in an rp sample so read over that new condition and if you have any questions about anything on the SU ask here in the thread and Bastian or myself will answer.

Edit 2: Last spot is reserved! Someone has contacted me and it's in! All spots are filled!

Here's my spot filler. Will be worked on.

Name (Self-explanatory.): Real Name unknown, but referred to as "Ace"

Age (For Knights the age range can be from 15 to 35. For Mechanists the age range can be from 18 to 55): 24

Gender (Self-explanatory.): Male

Pokemon Species (What are you?): Toxicroak

Job Title: The Destroyer of Worlds Knight of Oran

Appearance (One paragraph required, or you could just submit a picture. Make sure to include your weapons/armor for this section. No need to go into large amounts of detail, but if you want to make it five paragraphs and explain every singe inch of your character's body then go ahead.):

Personality (Two paragraphs at least required. I consider this a very important section so make sure to flesh yourself out. If I feel that your character is not fleshed out then I will make sure to inform you of what you should add. It is highly recommended that you add in religious beliefs, talk about how they act toward those in the other side of the war, and their own beliefs in how the war should be carried out.):

History (From childhood to where you are now. If you have an questions about specific ways a child is raised in the civilizations then feel free to PM me.):

Moveset: Poison Jab, Sucker Punch, Sludge Bomb, Swagger

Roleplay Sample (Has to be at least two paragraphs, but you can do one of the following. 1) You can lift a rp sample from another roleplay and slap it here or 2) If you don't have a sample such as that, you can just make a small post as your character. It's none canon and will simply serve to show off your rping skills. Not only that but it'll give Bastian and I a quick view into how well you can rp.)

Awh man, so much interest already! So glad to see you all here :D And yeah, it's as Greigs said, just throw up your SU and he or I'll have a look at it. Looking forward to seeing what you can conjure up!

Also, @Red: I meant for the main OOC post itself, but I've got a friend working on a brand-spanking new format for the IC, once it's up. Hopefully it'll be good, but knowing him, it'll be amazing!

Right, we can't really keep people from being interested, so here we go!

Two new spots are hereby open and I shall consider them reserved for Garet and SV individually!

You two have to fight about which one of you wants to be a mechanist and which one wants to be a knight :P
