So I'm looking to buy a PSP or PSvita, but which one is actually better? I don't have a PS3 and I don't care much for online play and most the games I'll be playing don't have online play in the first place. So what is the better deal? I can go to disc replay and buy a PSP for about 45-50 bucks and a PSvita for about 70-80 bucks. And according to the playstation website all or most of the games I want to get are playable on both systems. So is there a reason that I should pay another 25-30 dollars for a PSvita over a PSP?

The Vita, no doubt. Pretty much every good PSP game is available for download, there's PS+, it's library just keeps growing (especially in recent years), and...it's only around $30 more in your case. You'd be doing yourself a disservice by getting the PSP and not the Vita.

    The Vita.

Completely agree with machomuu. Furthermore, you don't have to worry about your games breaking unlike with the PSP. The PSP game cartridges are really flimsy and are easily damaged; the Vita's, on the other hand, resemble the traditional style of hand held video game cartridges (they're very similar to the DS cartridges.) I think that may have been one of the reasons why Sony ended up changing the design of the Vita's games, as people like myself have had issues with the durability of the PSP's games.

Haven't tried Vita yet, so I can't really tell what its strong and weak points are. At one point, though, I did have a PSP, and seriously loved it. It had a bunch of games available, and wasn't so difficult to hack and install custom firmware into. Well, hacking part was a little confusing, but I still wound up getting it done, somehow. :3 Have no idea if this sort of thing is possible on PSVita.

The Vita is absolutely amazing. And based on your username, you would love the Vita version of Final Fantasy X and X-2, where they made the games significantly prettier and condensed it onto a smaller screen, which really helps a lot of PS2 and PSX games.

Jesus, a Vita for 80 bucks? I wish I lived where you did.

As nice as a Vita is, a PSP is a much better choice currently. The Vita is a great piece of tech but its game library is pretty lacking, especially if you're not a fan of niche Japanese games. That's not to say it doesn't have its fair share of gems, but the PSP has an inherent advantage in library size due to its age. The Vita memory cards are ridiculously overpriced and undersized, whereas with the PSP you can get a micro SD-ProDuo adaptor for pennies.

Also, the PSP is a fantastic system for emulation and it's incredibly easy to make it CFW ready. It's my go-to system for emulating PS1 and pre-PS1 games, although admittedly SNES emulation is still quite shoddy.

However, I wouldn't suggest getting a PSP from that store. An $80 Vita is just too good a price to pass up as it'll inevitably get a much larger game library. You'd be better off checking Craigslist or other second hand dealers for a cheap PSP 3000.

PSP, it'll save you more money in the long run. You can do a lot with a PSP regarding custom firmware and the Vita has a very small english library also VITA memory cards are BIG BUX

    Vita.
PSP games look absolutely gorgeous on it + you have 2 sticks for much better control.
And if you subscribe to PS+ you will get many games each month.
And every new portable game will go to Vita, new PSP games are sparse.

PSP's advantage is only the CFW-ability so you can play games for free.
But PSP also has emulator on PC so you can use that as well.
