    Here are some possible topics to consider when replying:

    • Which did you feel had better character development and story episodes?
    • Whose team did you prefer?
    • Did you wish they captured more Pokémon and/or had more screentime?
    • How did you feel about Brock staying as Ash's male traveling companion for every saga except Orange Islands up until gen V where he was replaced by Cilan? Was it too long? Or did you wish he stayed longer?

    Okay, that poll is totally unfair and plain cruel. You guys clearly know who's going to win.

    Although it would be interesting to see a smaller gap than expected between the two.

    Well, I gave Cilan his first vote, it looks like? =p I liked Brock as a character but got exhausted of seeing him for so many sagas so Cilan, although he was similar enough to Brock in character (cooking and cleaning) I found his little 'tasting time' thing cute and adored him for the longest time. I wish he caught more Pokémon but the episodes focused on him were hilarious and I loved his relationship with Burgundy.

    Sorry Brock, you'll always be special to me, but that's primarily just for nostalgia. =(
     
    I also preferred Brock as I just loved his development and always wish he will come back. I also absolutely loved some of Brock's Pokemon whereas as Cilan's team was a bit underwhelming.I do think Cilan was pretty good and I do prefer him over Clemont, so I wish he would've stayed with Ash into Kalos. My biggest gripes with Cilan were his cocky attitude about his fishing knowledge and that he didn't catch more Pokemon. I feel like Cilan's relationship with his Pokemon was really good and I wish he could've had a fourth or even fifth Pokemon on his team that he could've bonded with like his other three, just like Brock bonded with all of his Pokemon that he caught. I think more could have been done for Cilan.
     
    Honestly Brock's thing with woman was really annoying, most people probably only like him because of nostalgia. He's no better than Clemont.

    Cilan seemed smarter and his thing was a lot more interesting and fun, whereas Brock's thing with woman was just "here he goes again, as if we haven't seen enough of him swooning"

    Despite the little character development he got, I thought he was funnier with his silly food puns and "It's _________ time!" I miss that, to some degree. Brock's gags were very stale after awhile. Cilan was much funnier, imo.

    Brock had the better development. It took 14 seasons, but Cilan stayed...the same throughout. That was very boring.

    I didn't prefer either of their teams. Cilan caught literally only two Pokemon in Kalos, and Brock's teams were never interesting... but his Sinnoh team was great. I wish Cilan would have kept his Basculin, tbh, but I never really directly wanted either Brock or Cilan to catch more?

    After Sinnoh, I was tired of Brock. His gags got old, and I was ready for him to move on...felt four regions of Brock was enough. Cilan was a new and fresh start, and I felt he was okay in that department, but, he just wasn't a good replacement, all and all.
     
    I also vote Cilan, because while he got very shallow character development and didn't catch many Pokemon, he does make up for it with his personality and the food-based jokes.

    Brock is funny as well, but we had him for like 13 seasons and that kinda got boring, especially around Sinnoh.
     
    Cilan. The lack of character development and showcasing was really the writer's fault for not delving into his character as much as they could have because there was a lot they could have gone off of, but didn't. As for Brock while he got tons of development he also stalemated by Sinnoh in which I felt like they could have wrapped him up in Hoenn and moved on from him then as he didn't really develop in Sinnoh at all. Meanwhile Cilan could easily come back for a season and gain the development that he lacked. I really find it a shame that he wasn't in Kalos because I felt like he would have really enjoyed watching the Pokemon Showcasins and such. Especially since Sommeliers judge that which is, lo and behold, what he is. A pity.
