What is the best thing you've ever written? What's so good about it?

Sadly to say the only public thing I'm really proud of is The Visitor and the only thing I really did in it is get a creepy vibe going. There's been a few pieces I've done that I've submitted to various competitions which I think have been better. The best of those would have been a story I did about two years ago about shape-shifting aliens that take over a human space station. Since it was written from the perspective of someone who had lost their sight, it wasn't made immediately apparent that anything at all was going on outside of written audio cues. It wasn't until about half-way through the story that things were starting to be described as out of the ordinary, and then it wasn't until the end when the whole truth was revealed and that's what I feel made it so good.

Hm, maybe Chapter 11 of Foul Play? It features a big double battle that I'm proud of and I think that's the best I characterized the Pokemon in it. There's also the final scene in Chapter 22 as it's a huge breakthrough for one of the characters and she gets very emotional.

I don't know about any singular post, but I do love Eddie from Unific (yes I do want to continue writing him at some point gp) and I think I peaked with him tbh lmao - I reread them today and a lot of his posts still make me smile and be like "damn I was actually funny and good at writing"

I incorporated his personality into the narration a lot better than I have been doing lately (or maybe he just has a bigger personality overall) and spent a lot more time describing visuals from his eyes in a really fun way, while still having the posts be tightly written with no unnecessary bulk padding it out, so it's nice to be reminded of that and that I am capable of that, so I can keep it in mind instead of overly relying on dialogue or their inner thoughts to get my characters' personalities across. His Pokemon were also chaotic and stupid and cute and I am totally not biased because Theodore is a Rowlet

I think part of Eddie's charm was that he was incredibly not slick but he thought he was, which is far more entertaining than someone like Marcella who just kind of is what Eddie wants to be in some ways, and I had a much easier time making a fool out of him. Which is not a necessity, but that did make me laugh.

But yeah, looking back, my writing is definitely sloppier now, though it's good I revisited this because even if I'm not writing the same kind of character, I'm reminded of a lot of things, like trying to keep every part of the post entertaining - I can tell that I injected his personality and humor even into transition scenes or paragraphs, it wasn't just "Eddie went here and then he did this funny/interesting thing", so I'll keep that in mind going forward and also try to keep up the same energy when I pick up his story again.

Not to be too pleased with myself but I did smile the whole time I reread his journey, which is rare since I usually just cringe when I go back and read my older posts, so it was hard pulling out what I think was the best

Good NPCs that didn't just fulfill a purpose for the main character, but are likeable in their own right!
