Name: Brooklyn O'Hara
Nickname: Brook
Age: 13
Sex: Female
Dorm: Raikou
Appearance: Standing at 5'5, she is quite tall for her age – the fact that she likes to wear heeled combat boots when possible makes her appear even taller. She has messy blonde hair reaching her collarbone, with her roots a darker brown colour. As someone who cares a lot about appearance, she keeps her hair as tidy as possible – when it isn't left hanging onto her shoulders, it's likely to be in a messy bun on top of her head. Her eyes are brown, and more often than not have some form of eyeshadow or eyeliner on; however this makeup does not tend to be extreme, unless in formal situations.
She tends to stick to simple, yet fashionable clothing – she spends a lot of time making sure her outfit matches. She's realised recently that, if she's going to be looking after Pokémon in potentially extreme environments, she needs to tone down a bit, going for trousers or jeans and slightly more comfortable clothing when exploring. When she needs to be formal, she'll spend a lot of time ensuring her outfit is perfect.
Personality: Brook is a somewhat outgoing person on the outside, preferring to spend time with people and Pokémon as opposed to being alone, however she tends to find it hard to make friends and become close to someone. She is easy-going and can get along with most people, but as soon as the interaction is over, she picks apart everything she said and did to find something to worry about. This is a particular flaw of hers – despite appearing to be good at social interaction, she will always find an issue. This generally is not a problem when she is with people - she is too focused on whatever is going on – but as soon as she's alone with her thoughts she'll scare herself into thinking she did something wrong.
She likes to do well, and will try her hardest to fulfil every task she is given; however she finds it quite hard. Despite her determination to do well, and her longing to be liked by others, she gets distracted quite easily when it comes to written work. If she is out with Pokémon, training them or battling someone on one of the battlefields, she tends to be fine, but when it comes to studying, unless it is something she enjoys or finds interesting, she'll find it hard to keep on track.
Overall, she tries her hardest to do well and to be liked, however it all comes crashing down when she overthinks things. Due to this, she often prefers to be with Pokémon, as she knows they won't care if she makes a mistake.
History: Adopted as a young child by a couple in Solaceon Town, Brook lived most of her life helping with her adopted parents running the Day Care. She's not sure who her parents are or how she came to the couple at the Day Care, and her parents have never told her anything about it – but then again, she's never asked. Having lived a happy life there for as long as she can remember, she never really thought about her birth parents, and she's never cared enough to go to her parents and ask. They might tell her if she were to want to know, but as far as she's concerned, Solaceon Town is her home, and the couple at the Day Care are her parents.
Since she was a young child, she's helped at the Day Care whenever possible. When she was a toddler, she'd befriend many of the Pokémon sent there, many of them caring for her and spending their time protecting her from non-existent dangers. Though she was never left on her own with any of the Pokémon at a young age, it wouldn't have mattered if she was – she was treated by the majority of the Pokémon as if she was their kin, and could often be found asleep, head resting on the tail of a Growlithe, or snuggled up with a Buneary.
When she grew older, she continued to help look after the Pokémon who came to the Day Care whenever she wasn't in Veilstone City for school. Her school life wasn't bad: she had friends, she got along with most people – well, she wasn't bullied, at least – and she enjoyed the work as much as you can enjoy schoolwork. In class, she'd always listen and do the work, leaving the other kids to be the ones who got in trouble for talking. In the playground, however, she would sometimes get in trouble for not listening to the teachers, or arguing with other students (despite never having started the arguments herself). Being in a school so close to the gym, they would sometimes get visits from gym trainers and Maylene alike. She very much looks up to Maylene, and, despite not particularly wanting to follow in her footsteps of being a gym leader, preferring to look after Pokémon rather than fight them, she admires her.
As a child working at the Day Care, the regulars all seem to like her, sometimes bringing her sweets or having a conversation with her whilst her parents were collecting their Pokémon. Her parents and her were quite close to a few regulars, to the point where they knew her birthday, and would always bring their Pokémon in to see her that day, even if they didn't need the Day Care service. On her eleventh birthday, one of the regulars came to collect his Arcanine, who Brook had known since she was a toddler, and another Pokémon, whom she had never seen before. When he came out, he was carrying an egg, which he gave to her with a grin, wishing her a happy birthday. Her parents were smiling behind him, indicating that this had been a gift for her birthday.
Soon enough, she had a baby Growlithe, who she named Nala, to look after. Soon, her parents suggested that her and Nala go to the Trainer Academy, and, after being told too many times that the Day Care would be okay without her, she finally decided to go.
