Storyline

What is this about?

Chaptered story! Continuously updated currently* MASSIVE SPOILERS

Prologue
Kanto, ahh yes the familiar region of that in which you see when ever you may play your dusty old copy of Firered or the newly released rom of HGSS. Well this story mainly relates to the anime series which the original RBY and the new Firered and Leafgreen made a spinoff of. A very special trainer by the name of Ash Ketchum whom in our know timeline was the source of good in a time of corruption and hate through out the Pokemon world. The story of his struggle to become the Pokemon master and defeat whatever evil stands before him. But oh no, this timeline was different. A lot was the same but the trainer from the town of Pallet was not yet what you knew him to be... He was growing a reputation with Rocket and how he defeated them at Mount Moon and such that they devised a plan against him in this world. A plan which would not only take a massive turn in the timeline we know, but also give you the opportunity of greatness. Ash's mother was in a state of pure shock when the news spread and sought the world renowned Professor Oak for guidance. As Oak started Ash off he was one of his biggest fans. As his own grandson was another one of those who disappeared during the path to fame. Those who knew what happened kept silent. Those who kept the secret, well lets say they kept at it. Smuggling trainers and stealing Pokemon were a new thing to the region of Kanto. While other region's such as Hoenn were stricken by it far less then the new powerful force which hit Kanto hard. But how do you play a role in this? What did Oak do about all of this? All of these questions you may find out by reading the chapters which are up thus forth, and/or waiting for the game to be released!

And yes, once you finish the Orange league, you will be able to go through the new fully revamped and remapped Kanto!

Well, the song is really catchy :D
Unfortunately, there's not much to comment on right now. I'll check in again when you get some screenshots/more information up.
One thing I would like to know is what features you're planning on adding using ASM.

Yeah, I understand. With ASM we intend to implement some fun little minigames so we will need ASM to add things like timers etc. Also with ASM it may be needed for some of our big scripts.

*This map is OLD* I bring you "New Vermilion City"! The fully revamped and updated Vermilion. As this is another dimension, towns, cities and routes might look a bit different. (Tiles still need to be inserted.) Click on the "Link." button in the center to go see the map.

Oh yes, forgot to add something! The double building thing on the top left is where you start. One side is your father's shop storage. The other your mother's shop storage. Both of their shops have relocated to Saffron and been put in to the MegaMart. Which is part of the StarLinerMall which replaced SilphCo after it was exposed as a Rocket hideout by Professor Oak who lives in Pallet Town with his world class lab.

0.0 nice CSS, and finally more ASM events, nice story, one thing, TILE ERRORS, I know, I know, you did not insert tiles, but you could at least fix your tile errors, you can even see them in your preview of vermilion.

I inserted a bunch of new tiles and fixed New Vermilion. I will post it in a later update.

What's Cookin?

Here is the new Route 6. Yes, it is a pretty large change considering the original. But as I stated before it is another dimension. New Kanto will be better then the old! Also notice the new tiles ^^

Also, Route 6 will not be playable until you get your pokemon from Oak. The way you will get to Saffron at first is yet a secret lying within New Vermilion.

My eyes!...they are healed? Wow nice tiles Panda(can I call you that), major improvement one the tiles, and as always nice map. I can tell this hack has much potential, probably will win hack of the week, or even month, and if you are really lucky...YEAR!!!

Edit: At times I wonder, why can't Nintendo learn from these hacks?

First non CSS post :(. Well this is not really an update just a check in and going to say some minor changes which I plan to make.

As of right now the first beta is looking to be posted up around a special day. Now don't get to excited. Planned dates sometimes do not work out but I hope I can deliver on this one. More info will be released at a later update. I have updated Vermilion to fit its new tiles. If you have an account on TPW you may have seen my post of the Route connected to Vermilion. Another thing holding me back from working would be school. I really have set a lot of goals so I could do my best in school and do not want this to come in front of anything. Another thing to state is also I will be busy with other real life things so don't expect me to be hacking everyday (I know, I wish i could simply push this out as fast as possible.). I have some pretty big breaks coming up though on the lighter side^^. I will have a lot of time then to hack and consider real life social events as well with friends etc.

Now for the hack itself...
I plan to implement some new features to Vermilion which will be pretty unique such as some new scripts. A ferry system which has tiers of traveling rights. As you gain respect it opens up more places to visit. At the end of the game you will receive chances to go to some special places which host very rare Pokemon. I may also create a karma system? This would mainly have to do with how you respond to questions from peers. But that is only if I have the time and would definitely not be in the first beta! Also I have some story changes so it will give you a better understanding... Here is a timeline of events which basically summarizes the stories beginning up to the ferry...

Vermilion/Safron beginning

Start in Vermilion in your living quarters above parents shops storage
You need $3500 to board ferry to Pallet Town for your meeting with Oak, you only have $3000. So you deliever some packages for your parents to the shop
You cannot go through the route though due to not having a pokemon
You find the secret underground path from Vermilion to Safron.
Little did you know this path was really Rockets...
You escape Rockets clutches and inform Officer Jenny's sister who works in Safron. Officer Henny... (orginal... or not? XD)
She takes care of it and takes you back to Vermilion safely through the passage.
You make your way to Pallet via ferry

So what do you think?

Now for Pallet Town. Oak will escort you and the others to his lab on the hillside (yes finally his original anime lab in game and a real size Pallet Town!). You patiently wait to receive your Pokemon as you see everyone else receive theirs. Finally you are the only one there. Oak calls you up and takes you to his backyard which consists of his private Pokemon paradise. He had reserved a special Pokemon for you. But why was this? He saw something in you (for more info on this read post 1). So he introduces you to a level 10 male Laprus. Now you can continue on from post 1 completely!

What's Cookin?

Here it comes, the full on progress map of New Kanto! Saffron City had some major updates including SilphCo becoming a new massive mall! It includes a mart and much much more. Also Team Rocket rules the underground roost here. They pretty much own the city...
