    Has there ever been a time where you wrap up a series and think "...wow that was absolutely awful", but you watched the whole thing? What about "what was I thinking"? Or maybe "this is a secret I must never reveal to the general public"? That last one might be going a bit far, aha. Or maybe not(dun dun dun).

    Maybe you liked the first half, and you sat through the rest because you hoped it would get better. Did it ever?

    What about shows that you really liked when you were younger, but now you just don't know what you were thinking.

    Let's try to keep our mentions of "lolol boku no pico" to a minimum, yeah? ;)

    Mirai Nikki. It's the only anime I hate and it's one of those anime that wasn't so much consistently bad as it was that I liked it less and less each episode, largely because I didn't want the main character to win (and he always did, there was no real punishment for his actions at any point) and the main girl less so. It's because of that that I think that if I had just watched the beginning, I wouldn't really feel as much hate towards it as I do, but my negative feelings just grew since, as it went on, the things I actually liked about it were forcibly and gradually removed.
     
    For me, it'd have to be the Infinite Stratos series.

    Nothing but endless waves of pandering to the audience with a perverted yet super dense (his density reaches new extremes) main character and his harem of international dreamboats. With a very thin storyline dedicated only towards creating locked-in-a-storage-room situations with him and one other girl, it was a truly terrifying experience.

    I am truly amused by the fact that I finished it in one go, and even went on to watch the second season (which was more or less the same) and the OVAs (which were more or less the same).

    Like no kidding I just sat whispering "WTF am I watching" on repeat for the entirety of the anime. And then after I finished I just sat there staring at the ceiling wanting to roll in a ball whispering "Wtf did I just watch... "

    Pupa is probably one of the worst anime I have ever seen in my entire life of watching anime. I'm usually quite nice in rating anime, but this is the first time I have ever rated anything with a 1/10 (If a 0 out of 10 was possible, I would have given it that). Given with the fact I have never seen Elfen Lied, I found this in a review:

    It's like someone put Elfen Lied in a blender, dumped it on the ground, slipped on it, vomited, and spent 45 minutes lying in the blended up Elfen Lied vomit while someone else accidentally records the whole thing on their flip phone.

    The premise given sounded exciting when I first heard about it. A psychological fantasy horror story about two orphan siblings having to rely on each other after severe family violence (between them and their Father -can't remember to be exact). However, an accident occurs which results in the younger sister getting turned into some awful man eating monster and the older brother having regenerative abilities. The art on the first visual poster given also looked pretty awesome so I was excited to watch it.

    To be frank, when I watched it was horrible. Not just horrible, but absolutely appallingly horrible. I can't quite give full details because I've tried to wipe it away from my mind as possible, but after watching each episode, it just left me both horrified and confused.

    The story itself - complete and utter crap. I wasn't even sure what the plot of the story was besides the whole relationship with the siblings, the backstory of them and the utter gorefest. The whole story just ended. It wasn't even given a proper ending.
    I also thought it would be somewhat similar to the brother sister incest complex thing... but I did not expect it to become so cannibalistic with the sister eating his brother out to survive every time she was hungry (the brother regenerates himself so he's basically sacrificing his body for her to survive).

    The art wasn't terribly bad, but it wasn't amazing. However, it was extremely censored up watching it for the first time - much more than most anime I felt.

    The gore itself. I don't usually mind gore... but that was just too much and soooo much unnecessary gore too.

    Each episode itself was a total of 5 minutes. Excluding the opening and ending, the episode it self would have been around 3. So the whole series itself would have been around 37 mins ish. So I'm quite glad I didn't have to sit through something so long. Seeing as I had started it, like most anime, I make it to myself I had to finish it unless I got too bored. I was hoping, one week would be at least somewhat interesting, but all 12 episodes were horrifyingly horrible to watch :(

    tl;dr Pupa is the worst anime I have ever seen in my life.

    Freaking Rebellion. I've watched a lot of what are considered shit shows. Many disappointments, but this... I wasn't a huge fan of Madoka, but this movie made everything I kinda liked about the series vanish.
    Be careful since there will be spoilers about the movie and/or the series.

    This movie was basically a huge cash grab.

    It starts kinda well. Confusing situation. Everyone is happy and alive, which shouldn't be happening. Of course Homura is on the case and will solve this mystery.

    All the old characters are somehow alive and kicking. But we have a new character,Nagisa Momoe. Who is Mami's new pet/friend. While later being "revealed" to be the witch that killed Mami. This character was completely unneeded and was most likely made/added for the sole purpose of selling merchandise(They've milked Kyuubey enough)

    If you have watched the series you would know that Homura is pretty much the main character. Even if the show is named after Madoka. The series did something well, it showed back story to the characters. Kinda made us feel for them, we "got to know them". Homura was the main point, but still we had something for the other characters. Well here we got nothing. The producers went with the whole Homura craze(You can't really blame them, it's money). They threw out the little character development we had and threw it away. The story was unneeded and forced.

    Well there were 2 redeeming factors. It looked nice/had good animation and it had 2 pretty cool fights. That's pretty much it.

    They even changed the damn script. The plan was for it to have a happy ending and the director I think decided to change that. I like well done "bad" endings. I don't want series to always have a happy ending. But this was done badly. If it ended happily I wouldn't probably hate it as much, I would avert my gaze from the other problems and try to accept them. But because of this stupid ending it felt like I wasted my time. It destroyed the whole plot of the series. I would have had no problem if the movie was a what if story, but sadly it was canon. It ruined what the series stood for, what the characters fought for. Madokas wish. All because the producers where too greedy. Because they wanted another movie. The movie was a huge disappointment and cliffhanger.

    Also the whole cult like following of Homura is really strange. People saying she did nothing wrong and all that. This character should be locked in a mental institution.


    TL;DR: Waste of time.

    I'm just going to slowly cover through each point in Story, Animation, Music, and Characters. And man, can I rant about this all day.

    Story
    Oh boy, where do I start? For starters, let's take a gander on myanimelist's description of the show.

    Okay, this seems like a promosing show. Some good old SoL romance with a teeny hint of Supernatural things. Reminds me of CLANNAD. But hey, everything's not quite as it seems.

    The few problems I see in the show is that it's trying to force drama in. And oh boy, I did a terrible job in it. All the drama in the show is because "Poor Communication Kills". Heck, the whole thing is just jumbled up problems that really doesn't make sny sense. By week 5, I'm already starting to question myself: Why did I pick this anime up?

    Another thing is that it refuses to outright explain things. So our main male protagonist can hear voices of the future but it disappeared around the end. No explanation, it's just... gone. On the other hand, our female lead apparently starts to see things at school. Again, no explanation. It frustrates me that no one provided an ounce pf explaining at all.

    Characters
    Not gonna go on about this, but one thing I can tell is that the characters... I can't see any development in them. Not to mention, they're also completely bland. Probably not as idiotic as Mahou Sensou's characters but I haven't watched it so who am I to judge? Still, everyone is bland, boring and a whole lot of "Ehhhhh?!".

    Animation
    Being an animation of PA Works, it's safe to say that the quality of the animation is great. I have no complaints aside from one: The amount of Pastel-Chalked Freeze Frame. Guaranteed 2-3 of those in an episode. It's like they're screaming that they don't have the budget to do some scenery porn.

    Music
    To be fair, as much as the OSTs are beautiful... they just couldn't linger in my head. I've heard a lot of soundtracks since no-vocals are my favorites, and as much as the OST has a classical tune to it... Nah, it just feels like it's there to me.

    TL;DR: I regret watching this and expecting it to be better as weeks passes on.​

    Gosh thank you for posting this! I started watching it when it aired last year because the last thing I had watched from P.A Works was Nagi No Asukara (so I had some high expectations for it) and then I stopped keeping up with it because of time management-wise, but I was also finding it pretty boring (the first 3-5 episodes that I watched).
    I've been wondering whether or not to pick it up again in the hope it got better after what I had watched, but reading about how it really sucks is pretty disappointing.

    Totally reminded me about Mahou Sensou. I don't have a hate for it as strong as Pupa, but it's one of the anime's I would have probably put on this list xD
    I wouldn't say the characters were idiotic. Can't really put my finger on the exact word I'm looking for, but they were pretty weak, bland, nothing special and a big lack of character development- pretty much exactly like how you put the characters of Glasslip to be. Was pretty disappointing though because I really did like the first episode of Mahou Sensou :/

    At first, yeah, it looks pretty promising, and the artwork in the anime was pretty great, but then.. it leads to nowhere. Like, the characters were bland, the plot made no sense (like I got the looking into the future part, but.. why? What was all that about?) and it was all pretty much happy-go-lucky aside from that one part where the male protagonist gets slapped and punched, but yeah.

    It only led questions to more questions like, where did the male protagonist go? And why did the female protagonist (I think it was Touko) was able to hear him at the end? In short, it was an anime where I always expected on what more would happen with the characters and the plot, but, it never did, and it was really disappointing. @___@

    Once again, I haven't watched Mahou Sensou so I couldn't really judge. But from what I've heard, they seem to be those kinds of weak characters. It's on my personal list of anime that I will someday watch just to educate myself about the dark side of anime.

    I'm tempted to watch Glasslip just from what you and Dragon have said to see how bad it was myself.
    Mahou Sensou was one of those cases where it was a great first episode, and after that everything went downhill.

    There needs to be a list of these anime from the dark side xD I'd watch them just to have a laugh and to see how bad they really are.

    I'm enjoying how much I didn't see this xD
    I thought HSotD was okay. I really liked the concept and wish another zombie apocalypse type anime could be done in the future with less of the unnecessary boobage and more of the kickass zombie fights and survival strategies.
     
    erm... i don't know with you guys but I was really disappointed with the 2nd season of sword art online. I really loved the 1st season of the anime, and that's why I watched the season 2.
    It feels really lacking and horrible. The plot seems to be a bit off and really unsatisfying.
    The GGO Arc is kinda okay. It has that "if you die, you're dead" feeling. Although it's not true that you'll die if death gun shoots you blah blah blah, they revealed it sometime during the last episodes of the arc, which made the the audience(me) a bit of a thrill until that was cleared out.
    The arcs after that, the Excaliber and Mother's Rosario. That is what really made me disappointed. First, the Excaliber arc is soooo short! It's like 3 episodes or something. One episode they're like blah blah blah excaliber, the next Thor suddenly showed up and wrecked the face of the boss. like whut? The battle was a bit fun at first then boom! I didn't really feel any sense of accomplishment right there. Second, the Mother's Rosario arc is soooooo dramatic (and there's only a bit of kirito). It doesn't feel like SAO anymore. It's like watching a drama of some sort. It is really corny in my opinion. They're like crying like in every episode. It just feels so sad, not because of the ending, but because SAO just became really awful, no offense.

    That's why I didn't really enjoy it. When I was fairly new to anime I heard a lot of praise about it. I excepted zombies. Not tits. Ecchi/fanservice is ok depending on the theme of the show. Also boob physics and a cliffhanger ending. Also the mangaka has been in hiatsu for like 2-3 years. It had so much potential and they blew it just to pander to the "otaku culture".
     
    Um... hard to choose, but since there is only one no. 1 worst, I gotta say it.
    Aku no Hana.
    I had some knowledge of the manga and the story is pretty interesting.
    I was skeptic at first when I heard there were doing the experimental animation but I went and tried it and... oh my god, I just couldn't handle it.
    The animation was SO UGLY it was nearly unwatchable.

    Have you had knowledge about manga?
    From what I've read, the anime adaptation is pretty well done. (Haven't seen it yet, just read the manga)

    Adapting one volume of Light Novel couldn't be lengthen much more...

    Really? I thought the second half of the first season was the one that turned me off about SAO. The arcs do feel a bit stretched out since they're trying really hard to fit in 1 big arc and 2 small arcs of LN content into 24 episodes.

    However, I do agree the Calibur arc feels like it's just there. And I really enjoy the Mother's Rosario arc since we finally get to see Asuna as someone else other than a clingy tsundere girlfriend of Kirito. It gives Asuna a bit more depth in her character, enough to save her from being on my hate list for being too bland for my taste.

    That's a really good question, onii-san. Why did I even have that category for it in the first place? Well, a review can't be a review without one though.

    I swear, even SoL comedy anime has more story than Glasslip.

    It kinda looked okay at first and again, the artwork was pretty nice, but then it got kiiinda fanservicey, except for like 2 episodes which were fight scenes, which was cool, but I really dunno where the anime was going in general, haha.

    And for all intents and purposes, it might be a good adaptation. Heck, it might be a great adaptation, but there's not much that really keeps me to the show so it seems like regardless of how good an adaptation it is, there's no way I could get into the manga. I mean, it'd be one thing if it were like Attack on Titan, where I don't enjoy the anime but quite enjoy the manga, but the difference is with AoT, I don't hate the anime. Really, I don't even dislike it, and while I'm not sure if I'd recommend it as a good show, it does have good qualities that I could easily point out.

    With Mirai Nikki though, I gag at its mere mention. As in, true boiling hate exists, and I doubt its quantifiable in any way. So there'd be little chance of me getting into the manga. And considering the main characters' decisions (Yuki/Yuno's, specifically) are a part of what made me dislike the show to this extent, I doubt I'll feel any better about the manga.

    I'm always curious to what extent do people hate or love SAO. However I'm on the same par as Illusione with this one. Second half was pretty disappointing (although tbh it was already meh after a great first 3 episodes) and that to me felt lacking and horrible.
    I actually enjoyed GGO more than a lot of the first season. Sure the first few buildup episodes were pretty slow, but I enjoyed it once it got into the more action scenes and the tournament. Maybe it's because I do have a liking to FPS games. Mother Rosario arc was also rather enjoyable to watch, not as much as the GGO arc, but enough to make up for the Calibur arc.

    Like said though I agree the Calibur arc feeling just there. It felt not much more than trying to get Sinon to play with the others in the same Party.

    I remember the mangaka released a single chapter in April in 2013 and everyone thought he was finally going to go off hiatus and it's been almost two years since then. If a season 2 ever did come out, I'd watch it just because I want to know what happen. But then of course I'd have to put up with all the boobs again. The OVA was just... ughh

    Gosh I was actually debating whether or not to watch this xD Like I thought the concept was cool... and then I heard there was ecchi...

    Yes, I watched it all lol, I sort of liked it with trains and the fact Aoi was badass awesome.

    But yeah it was kind of weird the plot made no sense at all (why were terrorists desperate to privatize the railways? and why do the railways have a squad of heavy armed security forces and a fleet armed trains).
    The fanservise was kind of unnecessary and (quite literary) in your face.

    Its whole purpose was to please Densha Otaku.

    I think the anime I can't believe I sat through was Kuroshitsuji II, the plot was awful and well just creepy.
     
    Princess Jellyfish. Hate me if you must, I just absolutely could not stand this anime. It had been recommended to me by so many people that I finally decided that once I had watched everything else I could think of off the top of my head that I would give the show a chance. And not even 5 minutes into the show my first time watching it I quit. I couldn't stand it. The music, the art, the everything was just plain terrible in my opinion. The first time I watched it I didn't even finish the first episode. And I didn't end up completing the series until a couple of months ago and I still couldn't stand to just sit and watch it. To get through an episode I had to be doing something else or else I would be tempted to pull out a gun and play russian roulette with myself. I just thank god that I'm finally done with what's been aired of it and I never have to hear about how great it is or watch it again.
