Hello and Welcome to the World of pokémon!

My name is Sycamore and I'm a pokémon professor! I could continue with this talk, of course, but the look in your eyes tells me that you've heard this before. This isn't your first pokémon journey and it certainly won't be your last. So perhaps I should cut right to the chase.

You've been studying up on how to become a pokémon trainer for a few years now, situated in the quaint little town of Aquacorde. Though many of you populate the small village of Vaniville which is just a stones throw South. Never understood why it was considered a village. There's only three or four houses there, it's more an estate than anything. Alas, I digress. Studying at the local trainers school for two years now, as is the minimum requirement, you're just itching to race out on your own pokémon journey. Excited to leap the precipice and take your new partner pokémon, courtesy of myself, on an epic journey of epic proportions!

Ahh, but hold on their hot shot. Do you have any idea where we are? What's happened? This is the Kalos region alright, but not the one you're used to playing through on that little handheld. It's been 2 years since the events of Pokémon X and Y and the young duo, Calem and Serena, rid the World of Team Flare by rescuing the legendary pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal. Team Flare aimed to destroy most life on the planet. Believing that by doing so and leaving a select few... they could cleanse the World of filth and create a better world. In other words, they were wackos. Serious wackos.

Their leader Lysander, vanished into his exploding facility and hasn't been seen since. Team Flare disbanded and fell apart. Recently, however, the remnants of the shattered organisation seem to be more organised... uniting under a new banner. Rumors of new leaders stepping forward are abound and the name on the streets is different too. Rising from the failures of flare, Team Cinders is looking to finish what Lysander started with some much more violent methods...

And before you ask. No, we haven't fixed Geosenge yet, a lot of wild steel, electric, rock and poison types have taken to the new massive crater and destroyed lab.

Regardless of evil teams and failed reclamation, Kalos is as active as it was before and a new chapter in this fantastic journey is about to come to light! With your starter in hand and a World to explore, badges to earn and contests to win! A fresh graduation under your belt and a World of possibilities!

Can you catch 'em all? Can you discover and defeat the mysterious Team Cinder? Can you stand against a legend capable of bringing balance to creation and destruction itself?

A new chapter in the history of the Kalos Region is about to begin!

So how is this RP going to work?
Stages and Arcs:
Every new area visited over the course of the RP will consist of one Stage of the RP. There will be up to six Stages in one Arc of the RP. Stages will be fairly short, not taking up more than one or two posts per character though this can vary depending on the location. The final Stage in an Arc will always be longer and feature major story development.

JP's are encouraged! But don't waste time!:
This is a close knit RP with few players. So joint posting is encouraged here. However, it is also HIGHLY recommended and enforced if need be that your Joint Posts be short and on time, nobody is going to wait a week for a JP to be finished and if it comes down to that sort of situation? Then your post will be skipped. Null and void. The RP will progress without you if you take a ridiculous amount of time. This RP will not be very fast paced... but some semblance of punctuality is expected. JPs can kill RPs. They will NOT kill this one and we as GMs will NOT allow you bring forth such an event.

Regarding the Mons:
You may catch one pokémon per stage if Wild pokémon are present. With the introduction of every new stage, wild pokémon will be provided in a list should they be available. Pokémon not native to Kalos will be appearing as well. So don't worry about limitations! You needn't ask for GM approval for catching a mon so long as you have a good post attached to it and it's the only pokemon you've attempted to catch on said Stage. Their are no such thing as levels in this RP for your pokémon, you choose when your pokémon learn new moves as per the story. But do try to keep it semi-realistic, no stage three pokemon with hyper beam by Act 2 or you're going to get booted out the door.

Time and Place:
All of the events that took place in X/Y are canon. The story takes places roughly two years after the fall of Team Flare... for the sake of the plot. Team Flare captured both Xerneas AND Yveltal... and both the male AND female protagonists of X and Y worked to set them free. If it wasn't obvious, this story will focus heavily on the legendary pokémon, Zygarde. Players start out in Aquacorde town having been studying in trainer school since the beginning of X/Y, they are only now graduating from trainer school and are set to go on their own adventure after just receiving their starter pokémon from Professor Sycamore.​

Nine Pokémon.

Nine Players.

Each of these pokémon represents a slot in the RP. There will be no reservations of any sort for this RP either. You make your character, you state the starter you want and you go for it... regardless of any applications for the same starter that you desire. The best SU's will be chosen and the GMs decision on this matter is final. The only exception to this rule is the choices of the GMs themselves, as we of course as the ones running the RP, get access to our choices.

Each starter will start off knowing four moves with a maximum of six learned at any one time. The starters may come knowing a single egg move of your choice. They may also have an ability of your choosing from the list of abilities that they can have naturally.

As GM, I will be taking Froakie, my Co-GM Shak will take Chespin. The other seven are up for grabs however.

Name: You know what to do here.

Age: 13-18 years of age. A little older than the average, but everybody playing ten year olds would be boring.

Gender: Self Explanatory.

Hometown: Where in the pokémon World are you from? Your character doesn't need to be from Kalos specifically.

Physical Appearance: Your characters looks and fashion sense. A picture is nice for this section, but including a written appearance as well will get you brownie points.

Strengths: What is your character good at? What good qualities do they have? At least two with at least a sentence describing each, bare minimum.

Weaknesses: What is your character bad at? What are their flaws? Read Strengths for specifics.

Aspirations: What's your characters end goal, biggest dream or in general, their reason for starting their journey? A short paragraph is ideal here.

Rival: Who's your characters rival? Co-ordinate with another player here... or make a brand new NPC!

Starter Pokémon and Nickname: What starter did your character receive from the Professor Sycamore? What nickname did your character give their starter? If any.

Starters Gender: Self Explanatory.

Starters Moveset: What's your starters current moveset? See the starter section above for specifics.

Starter Ability: What ability does your starter have?

1. Show some respect to the other players. Do not use their characters or anything of the sort, without their consent.

2. This RP has a T rating. Meaning that mild romance, violence and minimal swearing are allowed. These principles are encouraged but do not overuse them, or push too far in your writing so as to breach the rating.

3. Pokémon evolution is one of the few things that must be checked for approval with the GMs. PM Deceptio or Shak first before making your pokémon evolve.

4. Remember. There are no reservations, so do not make one and expect a spot to be held. Many people may try for your spot and the best SU will take the position.

5: Obey all the regular rules of the RP section, as well as all general rules of The Pokécommunity forum as a whole.

6: Pokémon moves can be learned, but not too frequently... and they must adhere to the pokémons natural moveset. TMs will be available occasionally through the course of the RP, usually through events. Other methods of move learning may also pop up, occasionally.

so i'm mostly rehashing this character of mine ...

Audrey Sargent
> age 17, female
> from Couriway Town, Kalos

Physical Appearance:
A little under average in height and with a slender posture, Audrey is actually quite confident in her looks. Her brown hair is at about shoulder length, but it'd likely be a lot longer if it wasn't so curly. In the front, she has bangs that hang just over her eyebrows, but aren't long enough to cover her chocolate-brown eyes. Her facial features in general are quite small and unpronounced, but at the very least her eyes pop - something she takes a bit of pride in. She usually wears some light make-up to accentuate her features, but makes sure never to overdo it, as she detests the over-the-top look some people sport.

Her clothing style is rather preppy and girly, with her favourite clothing items mostly being dresses and skirts. On the day of departure she wears a light pink blouse with short sleeves, tucked into a dark grey layered skirt, with black stockings underneath. On her feet, she wears a pair of brown laced ankle boots with a small heel. And, to finish off her look, she wears a small straw hat with a lace decoration around the rim.

Strengths:
Audrey's strongest points lie in her determined and meticulous nature. She feels she was privileged to lead the life she's led so far, and so feels a strong responsibility to make use of every opportunity awarded to her. She has a sharp wit about her, and combined with her appearance, she somehow tends to make her prowess in the Trainer's School seem effortless. This is hardly the case however, as she works hard and firmly believes that effort trumps talent in any situation.

At the same time, Audrey does have a softer side. She cares deeply for those close to her, be it human or Pokémon, and secretly has a soft spot for cute things and creatures. In principle, she is a very caring person, though she generally doesn't let this show at first glance. Audrey has a strong will, but usually appears calm and collected, trying her best not to let her thoughts be easily readable from her face.

Weaknesses:
With her perfectionism come drawbacks, however. Audrey is rather concerned with how she is viewed by others, wanting to make sure to always keep her composure and go about situations with a cool head. In reality, she has plenty of insecurities herself, and this can sometimes break her up quite a bit. Tying into this, she can be rather judgmental herself as well, and may respond rather gruffly to anyone who doesn't meet her standards. Nonetheless, she will adjust her view of people should they redeem themselves to her.

Audrey has developed the habit of biting her lip whenever something bothers her. Finally, despite having a slim figure, Audrey has quite little physical strength and endurance, instead relying on her Pokémon to do any metaphorical heavy-lifting for her. She can be somewhat selfish as well, and may not always be able to view things from another person's point of view, making it difficult for her to assess how they may be affected by her actions.

Aspirations:
Outside of studying, Audrey enjoys reading novels, mostly fantasy and romance ones, and playing music. She used to be an avid piano player back at home, but hasn't really practiced at all since she came to Aquacorde, and as such her
skills have diminished quite a bit. Interestingly, despite her strong drive to achieve,
Audrey actually doesn't have a very clear goal in mind to be working towards.
This demotivates her sometimes, as it makes her wonder if trying so hard
is really warranted if she doesn't even know why. Hence, going on this
journey is not only the ultimate test of her prowess as a trainer, but
also serves as a way out, to see the world, and hopefully discover
something she wants to do for herself.

Family:
Originally hailing from Couriway Town, this is where her family
resides to this day. Audrey comes from a small family, her being
the only daughter with a single younger brother. Her parents
are George and Theresa Sargent, and her little sibling is named
Jonathan, though this is usually shortened to just 'Jon' by the
family. George is the current stationmaster of the small train
station in their hometown, while Theresa works at the local
hotel, and occasionally guides tourists around the
waterfalls. Finally, Jonathan is age 12 at the moment, so
he and his sister are known to get into arguments. If push
comes to shove however, Audrey doesn't hesitate to defend
him from any unfair judgment their parents may pass on
him, either.

Appearance
Pale skinned, brown haired, he tends to wear cooler colours, greens and blues. He has a bandana around his neck which he wears around his face when he gets cold. He wears headphones that he plays music through wall walking, and simple grey shoes.


Strengths:
He is young and spry, easily dancing around while walking down the routes, jamming to the music he blasts from his headphones. Actually its a surprise he hasn't gone deaf yet...
Well there was that one time he was playing in the coastal caves back home with his old friend, they had only been about seven or so at the time, but Sam's quick movements saved both himself and his friend from falling boulders during a minor earthquake caused by a pokemon battle not too far away.

In a symbiotic form of relationship with him being energetic, he also tries to be productive as possible, unlike many of his trainer school comrades. Of course he only attempts this, in reality he isn't very productive because he has a bit of a squirells attention span.
You guys had THREE WEEKS to complete this assignment. How the hell have you not finished it yet?" "Didn't you end up having to write the entire thing last night after you spent all night playing Super Root fighter 4?" "I plead the fifth..."

He also has travelled before, alongside his childhood friend albeit without a pokemon, giving him ever so valuable experience, included survival skills such as knowing the difference between Poison Ivy and Toilet paper, a skill he learned after his companion suffered and unfortunate incident.
I would have felt sorry for him if I hadn't been rolling around on the ground, dying of laughter.

He can easily spark up conversation with anyone, and is generally considered a pretty funny guy, albeit his humour isn't particularly witty or clever, more... puns and innuendos. This gives him a sort of magical ability to make friends with all forms of people from all across the world.
What? You want me to make a joke on the spot?! Well this is Onix-pected.


Weaknesses:
He is headstrong, he doesn't have the flight part of fight or flight hard coded into his brain. This also means he blatantly ignores the obvious rules, pitting grass pokemon against fire, water against electric, almost as if he thinks he is some sort of magical protagonist who can never lose.

He also is a bit of a Glutton, despite being a lanky teenage child, and is never far from his backpack filled with homemade riceballs, which his parents deliver to him once every fortnight or so. He gets a bit homesick when he runs out of his riceballs.

He is also a scaredy cat, he can't handle the smallest of ghost stories, and his scream is... well less than manly. This stems from the fact that his older sister became a hex maniac, who spent 90% of her time in the Celestial tower, and the other 10% scaring the crap out of her little brother with her Sarcophagus.

He has a very short attention span with everything except videogames, and pokemon battles. This has led to the teachers knowing him as: "The disruptive influence." Yet again he did knock over a vial full of Muk and caused the entire school to be evacuated... Twice
"Hey it was an accident the second time!"


Aspirations:
Samuel grew up in Undella town alongside his childhood friend who disappeared on an adventure over a year ago, and nobody has heard from him since. His goal is to travel the world and find out what happened to his friend.

Carmano Terrell





Age: 17

Gender: Male

Hometown: Born in Lilycove City, Hoenn. However, moved to Shalour City, Hoenn when he was only 1 year old.

Physical Appearance:

Carmano stands around 5 feet 10.5 inches tall, with some nice snow-gray hair. He has sea-blue eyes and usually never smiles. There is always a black scarf wrapped around his neck. Most of the year, he wears a black coat, except during the summer, where he usually wears a green short-sleeve shirt. Carmano also usually wears pants, but on the few occassions where he wears shorts, you can see a scar on his right knee. Carmano doesn't look like he has muscle, but he can still lift up medium sized objects.

Strengths:
A "Third Eye on the Back of His Head"
Carmano is very good at sensing things that he doesn't see. For example, Carmano would be walking along a route, and he would stop, listen, turn around, and like he thought, there would be a pokemon right behind him. Carmano learned this from his early childhood when his brother would prank him all the time by running up behind him and pouring a bucket of water on his head. Carmano eventually learned what to sense and can now apply that to the outside world.
Very Creative
Carmano's parents made very good money, and they lived in a nice big house. However, to pay for all of that, his parents travel to make their money, so Carmano and his brother usually have the house to himself. Since he couldn't usually rely on his brother to have fun with him, as he was hanging out with his own friend group if he wasn't pranking Carmano, he learned to draw and build in his spare time. Eventually he became good at these things and made even more creative drawings and buildings.
Good Hearing
Carmano has great hearing. He could hear the slight rustle of grass from far away. This helps and is a strength because he can hear a cry for help, or he can hear a pokemon rustle from far away, which could lead to a potential capture if otherwise someone else would not hear it. This goes hand-in-hand with having a third eye, as he developed this strength as well when his brother would prank him alot.
Good Relationship With Pokemon
Carmano cares about pokemon deeply, and other pokemon can understand this. While Carmano does prefer to have pokemon battles, he understands how much a pokemon can handle MOST of the time. Carmano learned this due to his pet Lillipup at home, as Lillipup was his only comfort at home. His brother played too many pranks on him and his parents were always away with work trips, so he either was drawing or playing with his pet.

Weaknesses:
Lack of Trust
Carmano does not trust people anymore. He can't trust his brother to help him, or he might prank Carmano for asking for help. One of his other friends abandoned his friend group to join a group of friends that make fun of the weak kids at his school. He was one of Carmano's good friends too. Because of this, Carmano finds it hard to trust people. He will talk to people just fine, but he won't tell them anything personal or let them become a friend quickly because that's not the thing Carmano does anymore.
Repeating Mistakes
Carmano also is really good at repeating the same mistakes over and over again. He just simply does not learn when he makes a mistake. Back at home, when his brother still pranked him constantly, he would run into the same tripwire or step on the same area that would trigger a bucket of water to fall on his head. That trait never went away.

Aspirations: Honestly, Carmano's life was getting alot better. While his parents were still away alot of the time, he was hanging out with friends more often. His brother was also not pranking him as much and talking to him seriously more often. This started wierding out Carmano, as this has never happened before. It was also one of the factors influencing his leave, along with need for a change. He had been doing the same things for too long and wanted some change. So Carmano decided to just leave, and travel somewhere. Eventually, he decided to go to the professor's lab, wanting pokemon companionship, because a pokemon is the only way Carmano can get motivated to do anything now, He wants to get to know some pokemon, become friends, and simply travel. He doesn't know what he will do while traveling yet, but he simply will travel until he figures that out.

Rival: (Am I allowed to do this?) As someone who prefers to be alone, he doesn't have a rival, and nobody usually wishes to battle with him. If someone does come up and ask for a battle, he will reluctantly agree.

Starter Pokémon and Nickname: The pokemon that shall accompany Carmano will be Turtwig. Carmano does not give his pokemon nicknames, as he believes that the connection between a person and a pokemon can stretch the name to make it mean much more to them, not necessarily to other people.

Ryker lived in Castelia City for most of his life before moving to Aquacorde Town.

Ryker, standing at a respectable 5'10" is a young man whom is supposedly in the prime of his youth. However, people often mistake him as being ill or in some way deprived due to the fact that he rarely sees the sun. He often has bags under his eyes and his pale complexion leaves a lot to be desired in a region with as much prevalent sun as Kalos. His hair is somewhat greasy and its black colour makes this easily reflected in the daylight, the mop of strands upon his scalp is always messy and never really styled... a scar on his head causes a cowlick to spike up in the middle of this bundle of nonsense, but he gave up on keeping that thing down years ago. He kind of just accepts its presence now and moves on. If he took better care of himself, Ryker would definitely be attractive. He has a winning smile and a charming smirk that's often half hidden behind an unkempt fringe, his eyes, when not red with bloodshot or tired with bags, are a nice shade of deep brown and give a slightly aloof and mysterious vibe to his appearance in their slanting. He has a small and slightly stubby nose, but it's hardly so big a deal as to take away from his appearance, if anything it's the sort of thing that his elderly female relatives would describe as "cute as a button".

Ryker is almost always seen, when he is actually outdoors to be seen, wearing a signature black and red tracksuit combo that could easily be mistaken for sleepwear to the untrained eye. The black and red colour scheme is a favourite combination of Ryker's, not because he thinks it is "edgy" or "cool", but simply because he likes the way they go together... as such this pair of hues is found on most articles of Ryker's clothing, including his flat top sneakers and his old sports backpack that he'll probably use when he eventually works up the effort to go on a pokémon journey. Apart from everything mentioned above his appearance is rather unremarkable, he has normal hands with no visible scarring... his ears are often hidden behind his hair and invisible to the naked eye, regardless they're as simple as ears can be... the scar on his head in unnoticeable and the scar on his shoulder is often covered up by his clothing. All in all, Ryker has the potential to be attractive, he just probably isn't feeling up to it right now.

Strategic Battler:
Years of cooping himself up inside and playing video games of all kinds has honed Ryker's tactical and strategic abilities. He will soon come to realize that he has a knack for pokémon battling. Thanks to a few RTS titles, the odd puzzle game or two and a few competitive tournaments in Super Route Fighter 4, Ryker is able to plan strategic advancements and make on the spot decisions in the heat of battle. Abilities that lend themselves very well to a spry pokémon trainer to be.

Smooth Talker:
It takes a tongue of pure silver to weasel your way out of enough work to fill another mans lifetime. Ryker has always been naturally adept at the art of coercion. Some say he's even capable of refusing a pokémon battle... even after looking his opponent in the eyes. Jokes aside, Ryker has been skillfully rambling his way out of constant barrages of unpleasant situations and responsibilities. Some say that deception and convincing can only get you so far, Ryker doesn't really care since he hasn't reached that limit yet.

Innovative Thinker:
Ryker likes to think outside the box, he might not always be the fastest or the strongest, but if he has learned anything in life it's that there is almost always another path to victory is you exploit things correctly. With a deep philosophical outlook, Ryker likes to think that he can often see the deeper layers behind the simple and the mundane to the complex and the otherwise construed. By taking a different approach he can often find the more obscure and unknown solutions to otherwise impossible situations. In battle, this sort of line of thought can often turn the tide, though he sometimes has to be careful that he doesn't think so abstract that he loses sight of the core mechanics of the fight.

Compassionate:
While being a little bit weird, Ryker is more than a little bit caring beneath all of his flaws. He feels for people and can care for the downtrodden when they require someone and nobody else is around. While he won't be an errand boy for small, everyday problems, if there really is a dire circumstance that requires his attention and aid then he will not hesitate. Especially when it comes to family and friends, upon learning of a lead in his sisters disappearance he did not hesitate to step forward and search for her despite his lazy nature.

Physically Weak:
Ryker is not at all in shape, nor does he have any serious muscle mass to speak of. He's far from the scrappy type and in a one on one fist fight he's almost certainly the one to lose unless his opponent is either much younger or somehow frailer than he is. A life of study and playing video games might have made him quicker to react and a hell of a lot smarter... but if he's ever forced into a combat situation? Well there's no real chance of his victory unless he finds a way to use his other skills to somehow weasel his way out. Other inhibitions regarding this include; lifting heavy objects, running for prolonged periods of time and impressing that cute brunette from Kalos in his class.

Lazy:
Unless it's absolutely necessary that he do it, Ryker will avoid it like pokérus. He hates exerting effort where effort is not necessary, if there is an easier way to do something he'll take it, better yet, he might simply not do it at all. He's been going to trainer academy to sate the demands of his annoyingly intense parents. He hadn't planned to go on a pokémon journey of any sorts... however recent circumstances have made such an undertaking a necessity. How Ryker will actually complete this endeavor with his current attitude is surely something that will need to be seen to be believed.

Irritatingly Apathetic:
Ryker will often refuse to show any care towards issues that do not directly affect him. This is not born out of some edgy attitude, cruel hatred or some other strange reason... His apathy is the result of a genuine lack of interest. He's not a bad person by any stretch of the imagination and if a horrible situation calls for his attention and help then he will lend a hand. However with the little issues, unnecessary moments and generally sidetracking objectives... he finds it very difficult to be at all bothered at any time.

Eccentric:
Ryker is a self proclaimed shut in video game and anime enthusiast. He doesn't talk to people much and he rarely leaves his home outside of school. His social skills are abysmal, while he doesn't act overly awkward or shy, he often says things without thinking and a lot of the time he can come off as anything from clueless to callously blunt depending on the nature of the situation. He's pretty terrible at picking up on other people's feelings and subtle hints to things such as romance or other implications bounce off of him like a ball to the cold streets of Castelia city.

In his spare time Ryker likes to play video games, watch anime, browse the internet and... well that's it really. Now that he's being forced to take on the outside world, he finds he actually does get a bit of enjoyment from walking about in scenic vistas, viewing the sights... don't tell anyone he said this but he actually thinks battling can be fun too when he really gets into it. Regardless, he'd rather just sit at a computer all day and not care about the outside World.

Unfortunately for him however, he cannot afford to simply "not care" anymore.

About five years ago, Ryker's little sister Natalie vanished. Ryker and his parents checked the entire city after a single day at the park, the little girl only three at the time vanished from sight completely after their heads had been turned for a single moment. Thrown into panic and turmoil, the family searched the entire city for three days straight with no end result ever showing itself. No leads, no evidence, nothing. It was as if she had vanished entirely. After that day Ryker had begun to shut himself in more frequently than before, this event may even be to blame for his current choice of lifestyle.

However, about two weeks ago something strange happened.

An art caravan from Lumiose city showing new works by famous painters throughout the sprawling metropolis set up shop in the Aquacorde market square. Browsing the paintings idly, Ryker froze as he saw an anonymous piece by an artist whom was not present at the show. The picture depicted a little girl with glistening brown eyes, she bore an innocent expression, wore a little red dress and carried a plushy resembling a Munna under her right arm. The resemblance was too uncanny to be a coincidence. It was a painting of Natalie. Ryker fervently questioned the man running the show of the paintings origins, while he had no real concrete information to give... he assured Ryker that whomever had painted the piece surely had some interaction with the Lumiose city art gallery, which doubled as a café for all trainers.

Ryker couldn't tell his parents, if he was wrong they'd be sent on a wild goose chase for a daughter that might never be. No he had to do this by himself, but getting from Aquacorde to Lumiose with no pokémon and no guide was practically suicide. He had one choice, obtain a partner pokémon at the end of his final year at trainer school, depart from Aquacorde and head for Lumiose city, take the gym challenge as best as he could in order to have some sort of cover story upon arriving... and get any information on his sister that he could.

It had been five years with no leads, any slight chance at finding Natalie at that point was one worth pursuing in Ryker's eyes.

Ryker's "Rival's" name is Shade Darkshroud, well, not really. His rivals name is actually Jeremy Dooper, but he goes by the Darkshroud moniker to, as he puts it, better reflect the darkness in his heart. He tends to prefer to hang around in dark corners and alleyways, his partner pokémon is an Absol named Lucifer and he only chooses to train Dark type pokémon. He has pure black hair (dyed) and wears a black hood most of the time.

Jere- Shade has known Ryker since they started trainer school. He's always seen Ryker as his natural born enemy after Ryker accidentally tripped Shade up in the school hallway two years ago. Since then, Shade has sworn eternal vengeance upon Ryker and will not stop until he receives his retribution. (Though to be honest, Ryker would really just prefer is Jeremy left him alone.)

Home town: Vermillion City, Kanto

Appearance: Drew stands at an average height of 5'5", but his constant slouch almost lowers him to 5'4". The top of his head is cupped by his mid-length, unkempt, brown hair. He has large childlike green eyes, which he has been known to blush about when mentioned. The rest of his face is rather plain; his short stubby nose, and small mouth remain relatively unnoticed amongst those who take the time to comment on his appearance.

While not quite fat, he lacks the athletic or slender builds shared by his friends in Vermillion. He is commonly described as 'pudgy', since his reluctance to take part in physical activity causes him to gain unhealthy amounts of body fat at a time. Despite this, his athletic potential and obscure metabolism have somehow allowed him to remain in relatively healthy shape.

Dressing 'well' is something that takes effort. Drew finds hoodies to be much more convenient and comfortable. He dresses simply: Wearing a blue zip hoodie, comfortable loose trousers and running trainers on his feet.

Strengths:

Strategic
When he applies himself, Drew's tactical prowess is quite impressive. While he may seem dopey and slow, he has the potential to be both resourceful and quick thinking. His skills at improvising also help him in this regard.

Relaxed
His chilled nature is probably one of his greatest strengths. He rarely overreacts in panicked situations, or any situation for that matter. Drew is rarely phased, as can almost always think level-headedly as a result.

Patience
Both in battle and outside, Drew has incredible patience. A patience that's has gotten him out of plenty of bad situations in the past, whether it be hiding out in the same spot for hours to avoid the visit from his parents, or whether it be having his pokemon endure hit after hit in order to find his opponent's weak spot.

Weaknesses:

Incredibly Lazy
Sloth is one thing, but Drew takes it to a whole new level. If there is any short cut, Drew will try to find it. Walking itself is far too much effort for him to go through if he can avoid it, and he's not above falling asleep on the spot after any moderately strenuous activity.

Family Issues
Having grown up very distant from his parents, Drew has a latent hatred of authority which often gets him in trouble. Whether it be taking orders from a police officer or being advised by a teacher Drew simply does his best to avoid them at all costs. The idea of parents specifically disgusts him most of all.

Pessimism
Drew has never been one to fight for any kind of 'lost cause'. Coupled with his laziness, his pessimism is easily his greatest hindrance, as he has been known on occasion to give up before the battle is lost. If things seem even remotely bad, he'll almost always be reluctant to put in any effort.

Goals and Interests: There isn't much that Drew enjoys more than sleep. Staring out at an open body of water sure does come close though. Ever since he was a child, Drew has always had a fascination with crystal clear lakes and vast oceans. He isnt quite sure yet, but he wants to do something that involves the water, and doesn't take too much work. Fishing probably.

Family: Drew considers no one his family. The two part timers that visited him every now and then while he was growing up, have been labelled with his own interpretation of the word "Mum and Dad", as he knows no other terms for them. He was mostly raised by the woman hired by his parents; Felicia. While he never recognised her as his 'family', she was the closest thing he had, and he respects her for it.

As a child in Vermillion he spent a lot of time staring out into the ocean, as it was calming for him. This was interrupted by the large ships that used to dock there Bi-weekly(Twice a week). This inspired him to use his wit to start scamming tourists who came to the region, developing his skills of improvisation. His parents were almost never around; but he knew that every 16 ships that docked in vermillion meant his parents would be returning, a feeling that got less and less exciting with each visit. After hearing from a trainer in his city about the journeys that people embarked on in the Kalos region, he decided to sneak on one of the ships and make his way there himself.

Rival: Drew prefers not to call her a rival, but Paige is an old acquaintance he knew from Kanto.

Gender: Male

Hometown: Camphrier Town as of fifteen months ago. His family moved to Kalos so his scientist mother could study mega evolution. The mysterious atmosphere of the little town appeals to him greatly. Before the move, the family lived in Fuchsia city.

Physical Appearance: At a glance, Sebastian can easily be mistaken for a woman: He lacks muscle tone and his features are meekly defined at best. His long hair and feminine dress style do not help this situation. At 5'10 Sebastian is a healthy height for a male his age, though his lack of muscle tone and pale skin make him look anything but healthy. He usually wears his hair in a high ponytail, with several strands that refuse to be tamed and slip out of the hold. Sebastian smiles often, though some would describe it as a tired smile. His violet eyes are noted as having a peaceful look about them.

Sebastian's clothing style reflects his original home of Fuchsia city, his style taking on a more 'Eastern' appearance; however, this is subject to change once he sees what kind of styles the fashionable Kalos has to offer. He prefers tighter fitting clothes, and dresses predominately in darker colors: Mostly black and purple.

Strengths:

Sebastian is intelligent (in both book smarts and common sense), highly analytical, and an excellent strategist on the battlefield. The science and strategy of Pokemon battles have always appealed to Sebastian, causing him to spend many an hour on the PC using battle simulators to test out move combinations and battle tactics, and thanks to his mother, a Pokemon researcher, Sebastian has had access to quite an expansive library of Pokemon books (from myths to medicines and everything in between) for as long as he can remember.

Calm and Level headed: As a child he realized that if he grew fearful each time his poor health landed him in a less-than-appealing situation, he would always be in a state of panic. Because of this he has developed quite the level head, even in dangerous situations.

Sebastian's dislike for confrontation, along with his easy going attitude and friendly demeanor, make him fairly easy for most to get along with. His own struggles have made him very sympathetic to the struggles and misfortunes of others, and he will almost always be willing to lend and ear to someone in need. If a call to action is needed in order to be seen as helpful, Sebastian will attempt (although if the action is physically demanding, he might not succeed).

Weaknesses:

Sebastian has always been physically frail. He seems to bruise easier than most, and any more than a few minutes of harder-than-average physical exertion will exhaust him, hence why his muscles have never been very well developed.

His physical limitations have left him with very little confidence, and his dislike for confrontation makes him an easy target for anyone who might be looking for a doormat. Since Sebastian wears his heart on his sleeve it is all too easy for someone to see when they are getting the better of him.

Aspirations:
Sebastian wants to put everything he's learned from battle simulators to the test, battling real Pokémon against real trainers.
Being cooped up for the better part of his young life, he desperately wants to explore the vast and beautiful region he now calls home.
He has a powerful desire to prove himself to his parents (and a certain someone) in order to make up for being such a frail and incapable child.

Appearance: Standing at a height of 5'8", Avril is a bit taller than most girls her age. She has a smooth, creamy white skin complexion with piercing, emerald-green eyes. Avril tends to have a somewhat slender body build, but it is lightly toned with lean muscle. She likes to keep her hair on the shorter side, reaching down to the base of her neck. It is a bright, platinum blonde in shade. A small scar is located on her left thigh from an accident as a child. She also sports the Koffing symbol tattooed on her right shoulder. Avril also sports a small, stud piercing in her right eyebrow.

Avril definitely tends to dress in a more "punkish" style. As opposed to skirts and dresses, she likes to wear black biker boots and leather. She's definitely a fan of denim pants and various, metalic accessories. These include, but are not limited to the choker around her neck and several armbands. The one constant in her appearance is the black, wool beanie on her head. She tends to dress in darker colors most of the time, wearing black and various darker shades of red and purple. This can make her appear to be quite intimidating to most, and that is just fine with Avril.


Strengths:
Physical Strength
Despite her slender build, Avril is surprisingly strong for her size and gender. Most of this is on account of the amount of time she spent outdoors when growing up, as well as the fact that she uses exercise as a way to vent her frustrations at points.

Honest
Avril is brutally honest. She has no problem with voicing her opinion on things or telling people how it really is. This goes as far as telling people off if she has to. While this may not be the most friendly of ways to deal with things, and can in fact make others angry, Avril feels that being honest with oneself is the real way to go. She absolutely has no respect for liars.

Determination
Avril has a deep sense of determination. Once she sets her mind on something, it is almost impossible for anyone or anything to change her mind. While some can see this as being incredibly stubborn (and to some degree, those people would be right), Avril takes the stance that if anyone has a dream or goal they must accomplish, then it is up to them to make that dream into a reality. For Avril, that means using any means necessary, even if it means brute force.

Weaknesses:
Impulsive Trainer
Avril is the type to act first and question later. She finds thinking things through and always trying to form strategies to be a waste of time. This is even included in battles, where she feels that acting on impulse can prove to be more surprising to her opponents and give her an edge when she suddenly attacks with a move they never saw coming. Of course, since she does act so rashly, it can be just as easy for her to be surprised, and it can take time for her to pull off a successful counterattack.

Cynical
Avril never seems to be without some sort of snide remark or comment. While most of this could possibly be seen as her simply being sassy, it can at times grow to be very annoying, almost as if there is very little that the girl takes seriously. Avril seems to have a problem knowing when to stop once she gets started as well.

Prone To Violent Outbursts
Avril is known to have an extremely short fuse. If she finds someone irritating or a situation to become absolutely grating, the blonde will not hesitate to resort to physical violence to solve her problems.

Aspirations: To put it simply, fame and fortune. Avril's main goal on the journey across Kalos is to make a name for herself as a trainer and to make a lot of coin while doing so. Not exactly coming from a family with a lot of money, the girl is quite familiar with what it's like to be dirt poor and have to scavenge enough money just to buy some milk and a sandwich. It also did little to help with the fact that her grades while in school were... not quite as stellar as the rest of her fellow graduating trainers. As one might expect, this did little to build up her reputation around her peers.

So, how does one go about completing this task? By taking on the Kalos league challenge of course. While others might use the league's gym leaders as a means of testing their progress as a trainer, Avril has set up her goal to crush each and everyone of the eight Kalos gyms to dust with a team that is a literal force to be reckoned with. Her plans don't stop there, however. After she defeats the gym leaders, Avril plans to take her future team to the big times, by annihilating the Elite 4 and eventually the champion!

Not only will this give her the money she needs to live a comfortable life, one that she feels she is clearly in deserving of, but it will also give her the respect and power she's always dreamed of. Then... and only then, will Avril truly be satisfied.

Physical Appearance:
Jorunn is a vibrant redhead, or rather intensively orange with a whirlstorm of curls reaching down to her hips. She is 167 cm tall, so not the shortest of girls but also not tall enough for her soft, pronounced curves to make her seem like a large person in any way. Her skin is very fair, with plenty of freckles, especially in her face but also on her arms and shoulders. In the middle of her round facial features sit two large, icy blue eyes which are probably the bodily features she is the most thankful for. She is not particularly athletic, not having moved much more than she needed to over the last three years in Aquacorde.

Her usual attire on the road will consist of dark jeans together with large, wide necked t-shirts over spaghetti tops in various color combinations. She usually also wears some kind of pendant or trinket as a necklace, and at the start of her journey she has chosen for this to be the friendship thingy she got together with her bffs Alma and Dora. It is a silver chain holding a shiny blue glass pendant. Nothing special, but it signifies "her" color in their trio, while Alma's is purple and Dora's is green. On her feet, she'd prefer to wear some kind of stylish sneakers, but on her journey her mother has forced her to change them for a pair of sturdy grey boots. She also has a longer, grey coat with a hood, for protection from cold, wind or rain when necessary. Her items are carried around in a backpack with a single shoulder strap going across her chest, featuring six magnetic spots for pokéballs along the front of the strap. One of the outer pockets on the backpack is rather large and easily accessible and holds her fine camera.
Strengths:
Diplomat
Being squeezed in between the rash and manipulative Alma and the nonchalant and... also manipulative Dora, Jorunn has been forced to learn how to be the voice of reason when Alma wanted too much and Dora wanted too little. Basically, she is good at talking in a way many people can't help but see as reasonable. She most often uses it to make others believe that they are happy in the end, to avoid or resolve conflict, rather than for personal greed.

BFFs
Having two best friends rooting for you on your journey and doing their best to keep in touch on a daily basis is awesome. When these friends also have particularly useful talents to lend you, it's just amazing. The energetic blonde ALMA is a know-it-all when it comes to Kalos geography and biology. She's always gained the highest grades in pokémon care and history and such courses, also. The sarcastic and seemingly lax girl DORA hates those subjects but is instead a technical genius and hacker. Whenever there is some knowledge Jorunn lacks, she can give Alma a call. When there is something technical she doesn't understand, she can call Dora up. At least at the start of her journey, Jorunn's friends will be happy to help her out. Or so they say.

Artistic
With one friend being a walking encyclopedia and the other being a technofreak, what's left for Jorunn to be good at? Actually, she was always quite artistic and enjoyed colors, patterns and sound - at least when they fit together well. She can't really play any instrument skillfully, nor is she brilliant at painting or drawing. But she has got a way with words and composing pictures in photographs; on her journey she brings with her a nice digital camera that her father got her as a graduation gift.​

Weaknesses:
Judgemental
Being a cool part of a cool group means needing to think others are below you sometimes. As such, Jorunn has developed ways to find things to look down upon on others, very easily. As soon as she meets someone new, she will almost automatically scan their looks and behavior for things she can use to feel superior against. If she fails, she will feel a lot more insecure in their interactions than otherwise.

Fear Of Fire
When Jorunn was a tiny kid, her long orange hair once caught fire and burned almost to the scalp. She wasn't really hurt, and even though she was almost too small to properly remember the event, it did give her nightmares for years and made her avoid fire even when she saw no rational reason to be afraid of it. Tiny candles, even, are something she refuses to handle. This played part in her picking a water type pokémon as a starter. Sometimes in Aquacorde school, other trainers remarked that with her red hair she should be a great match for the fire type. As if looks was everything!

"I don't have OCD but..."
She totally does. At least some form of it. Her interest in organized patterns, matching colors and well composed music and singing comes with a drawback - she can't really stand things being mismatched, patterns clashing, or people singing out of key. It can distract her really badly. There are also times when she just gets strange ideas about something she feels a need to do or check up on, right now. Not later. Now. And if she doesn't, a sense of stress and insecurity will arise in her, similar to when she can't figure out a way to feel superior to another person.​

Aspirations:
Jorunn's main goal in her pokémon journey is to become better than her rival, by beating the gyms before her and capturing more pokémon than her. In whatever way necessary. However, these are goals posed by her friends, in their rivalry with the other gang at the pokémon school. These also involve one day finding and obtaining her "signature favorite pokémon", namely Dragalge. See, Alma has ever since they first formed their tight friendship been calling them the "Dragon Denizens".

Personally and privately, Jorunn actually sees the journey as a chance to get away from Alma and Dora for a while. She would never tell them so, of course, but they can be a bit overbearing with their focus on them being a trio and rivaling the "Fairy Fellows".​

Rival:
There was another trio of girl friends in pokémon trainer school. For some reason Jorunn isn't even sure of anymore, Alma, Dora and her decided that these be their rivals. Their names are Jenna, Avril and Danielle. It's safe to say the Fairy Fellows were never at all as keen on this whole rivalry deal as the Dragon Denizens were; the Denizens basically bullied the Fellows over the years.

In the days leading up to the graduation, Avril and Danielle miiight have had minor accidents that forced them to postpone the start of their journeys. Alma also caught a terrible cold and Dora some kind of stomach bug just before graduation. Very conveniently. Which left only Jenna and Jorunn to set out in the region of Kalos as rivals.​

No nickname yet. Since Jorunn's signature color is blue in her friend group, it seemed natural that she picked a water type. Also, a water pokémon with a sturdy shell somehow felt good against any fire pokémon she might have to face on her journey...​

After much deliberation between my Co-GM and I. We have decided on the best candidates for the SUs as judged by current submissions.


Congratulations to all whom have been accepted thus far. We would have waited longer but we feel this cast fit well enough to be put up for grabs. To all those not accepted, do not be discouraged, the other pokémon are still up for grabs and you are more than welcome to adapt your character to a different starter or to write a new SU and re-submit.

Will you care overly much about how similar the rest of the characters might be to the already accepted ones? Or do you rather judge them individually for quality and trust that they'll grow into different enough people during the RP.

Name: Kayla Narel

Age: 14

Gender: Female

Hometown: Azalea Town, Johto

Physical Appearance: (I don't has a picture nuu, hopefully a text description will be acceptable.) Measuring at 4' 9" Kayla has a pale complexion. Body type is average, though she has slightly thicker thighs and a bit of meat around her torso. Her eyes are deep amber, bordering on a sort of amber brown, like the color of pale ale. She has curly dark brown hair, with slight red tinges, that reaches halfway down her back.

She normally wears polo shirts, preference to ones that have pockets on the chest, favoring bright colors like yellow or pink. She normally wears sweat pants of various grays and blacks, though when it's warm enough she'll switch to shorts of similar colors.

Upon her feet she wears flip flops, black with green bottoms, no fancy designs, just comfortable, though she does keep a pair of tennis shoes to wear when needed, those are primarily gray with yellow detailing.

Strengths

Running in flip flops, running in flip flops is hard man.

Tenacity, Kayla doesn't like giving up, a bit contrary with her laziness, but when she chooses to do something she'll stick with it till there's a very clear understanding that she has to give up, and even then does so begrudgingly. Part of which is due to her being stubborn, another part of it being her desire to do her best.

Endurance, Kayla is far from the most athletic of girls, the strongest part of her being her legs, but what she lacks in overall strength she more than makes up with her endurance, though specifically endurance, not stamina. She can put up with most anything, she won't like it but that's not the situation.

Fast, she can't maintain speed over a long time, but in short bursts she can move incredibly fast. This applies to any action that can be done quickly for the most part.

Reflexes, Kayla has quite the reaction time, though she's more likely to use this to avoid things than to catch them or act in other ways with it.

Alert, Kayla is a bit paranoid when she doesn't know her surroundings, leading her to be on edge whenever that is the case, if she's in an unfamiliar local she'll often take the time to look around a bit so she understands the area. Though in general she tends to be alert, casting her eyes all around her as she takes everything in, from the buildings to the trees, she likes to know what is and isn't going on around her.

Swimming, Kayla is a natural born swimmer. She loves it, capable of holding her breath for about two minutes or so, though that's under the most ideal circumstances. She has no problems diving or swimming in moving water. She's also good at keeping her eyes open underneath the water, though not in dirty or salty water.

Weaknesses

Exercise induced asthma, or in layman's terms, whenever she does exerting physical activity for an extended time she'll often be short of breath, coughing and wheezing for a few moments while she tries to get it back.

Lazy, both a weakness and a strength in some regards. She'll often be most likely to take the easier choice or simply choose not to do things or ignore them, but on the flip side if faced with something she has to do, she's likely to think of an easier way of going about it.

Upper body strength, she has none, or at least very little, spending most of her time biking to and from destinations tends to work the legs more than the arms.

Dour, Kayla is a rather dour girl overall, and is often sarcastic or just pessimistic most of the time. For some this might be bad, for others they might enjoy her less than enthusiastic company. Doesn't mean she can't be happy or excited, just tends to be less so more often then not, though she'll often behave fairly blandly to mask it. Though the more she warms up to someone the more she tends to act a bit more, comfortably, her sarcasm dipping into a more humorous pool, or even making the odd stupid joke or two.

Enthusiastic appetite, Kayla has a hard time saying no to food, of any kind really, she loves to eat. Though she tends to stay away from anything leafy, doesn't like the texture of leaves in her mouth.

Aspirations: Simply put, Kayla wants to have a life. Not the sort of thing most fourteen year old girls think about on a daily basis. But there you go. She wants to see the rest of the world, try new things and meet new people. Which is kind of at odds with her shy nature for the most part. But she wants to overcome that and have a life she'll be happy with. Or at the very least to be able to go and stir something up, make memories in the best of ways. She'd also like to have more pokemon, though not all of them, nicely built relationships with all the pokemon she catches would just delight her.

Rival: Closest thing would be her older brother. They aren't really rivals, but they are siblings, and tend to go at each other a lot when together, regardless of the reason.

Starter Pokémon and Nickname: Turtwig, by the name of Tulip.

Starters Gender: Female

Starters Moveset: Tackle, Withdraw, Sand Tomb, nil

Starter Ability: Shell Armor

I updated my application slightly. I feel like I need to update it more and probably will. If there is anyone else who is willing to help me, I would appreciate it.

Will you care overly much about how similar the rest of the characters might be to the already accepted ones? Or do you rather judge them individually for quality and trust that they'll grow into different enough people during the RP.
To calm your nerves though, I tend to do a bit of both. It just depends on how similar they are to a different character.

(I don't has a picture nuu, hopefully a text description will be acceptable.)
Face claims certainly aren't a necessity. They just help people visualise your character better because they can see it rather than imagining it based on description. Makes it easier that way, y'know ;)
If you do want one, you can honestly just use google, deviantart etc. (It's probably a good idea to credit the artist, if you know who they are though) You can usually find something that looks moderately close to what you imagine. Some people get a basic faceclaim and describe how their character differs. If not, text should be fine.

While my Co-GM is unwilling to be so blunt. Your characters backstory is too dark for this style of RP. The general feel of the RP is quite lighthearted with a few dark moments thrown in for good measure to keep the story interesting.

We push the boundaries on the pokémon story slightly here, with more mature themes and elements in order to keep things interesting. But a wife-beater abusive father and a boy who left his mother behind to escape beatings... well... that's a liiiittle much. We would prefer if you choose to continue applying for this RP, that you write a character and story that is a little less intense in terms of dark imagery and mature themes.

I like what you have so far, but a bit more length will be required... but if you keep your style and pace you've got a good chance.

However, having running in flip-flops is a bit, well, quite silly. I'd prefer an actual strength here. Maybe something related to battles, since I see no strengths pretaining to actual pokémon.
