Something discussed a while ago - making a new thread. This is a follow on from an article ddrox13 wrote on hax and luck in battling. (See thread discussion here on that; quoting a post from there below). Here I'm covering how luck plays into things like catching Shiny Pokemon, IVs, etc.

Looking for more thoughts/ideas on the following:
I'm going to go ahead and claim Breeding and Shinies btw. Not something I may necessarily work on asap (couple other articles first), but thinking aloud, I would go with:
    - Intro
    - Shiny rates (basic overview, how to improve rates, etc)
    - Specific what-ifs (chances of e.g. 2+ shiny pokes in a horde, etc)
    - Pokerus chances
    - Encountering a perfect IV poke.
    - Breeding stats - chances of breeding a perfect poke, etc
    - ???
And approval as well. Also maybe a better title. :V

So, if I understand, it's like a "sequel" of ddrox's article but with an emphasis outside of battling? I think it would be cool, but hm. I feel like a lot of these methods are really commonly known anyway?

But I think it would be cool if there were aspects explaining how to "improve" your luck as well through those options. (masuda method, shiny charm, etc)

    Sort of a sequel, yeah.

To clarify, I won't be talking much about methods as we already have an article about that. (https://daily.pokecommunity.com/2016/06/13/all-about-shiny-pokemon/) Mine will be more about specific examples and fun stats (for me anyway =p) , like the 'chance of seeing two shiny Pokemon in a horde', or how likely is someone to breed a perfect Pokemon, rather than how one does that.

+1 from me, if that even matters on a bobandbill article :P

I still use a breeding calculator to work on that stuff, so a guide might be nice. Plus, Pokerus has a TON of fun numbers associated with it, some of which were discussed in my How to make a Pokemon Strong article.

The thing I really never understood was Dexnav. I'd enjoy some data on the chances to acquire a Pokemon with an Egg move or HA or 3 IVs, so look into that for me too, alright?

Oh it does! I'm quite capable of bad ideas, and the approval system is there for a reason. =p Applies to me too.

Hmm, I'm not sure how it works either. I'll look into that!

Will this be potentially turning into a series RE Luck/RNG in the Pokémon series? If I not I think this is something that could be potentially looked into and collaborated on.
It kinda already is part of a series, haha. ddrox13 did an article on battling RNG, and expressed some interest in doing one for TCG as well.
Idea sounds great, the only thing for me is the title: to me it seems rather vague. I suppose it could be argued as a hook of sorts to draw the reader in but I feel there should be perhaps a little more clarity?
Agreed there, haha. "The Numbers Game" has been suggested which I'm open to using. More ideas are welcome however!

I like this idea. Focusing on more physical data is good. It be good to show these to people that may not know about it or want more details.

    +1!
