Bittersweet Snapshots of Life
Um okay. Hmmm. Poetry. Let's dabble. I'll fix this up to look pretty at a future date. But for now this will do.I found poetry to be a beautiful medium, and at times found myself contemplating and reminiscing on the days I used to pour my heart out into poetry to better cope with the cold world outside.
Welp. Let's get to coping. Onward.
Dancing Hearts
Spoiler:
Hello.
You seem tired.
Did you want to try to talk again today?
I see you dancing with the crowd
Not wanting to give into the dullness of the world
Did you think you that maybe today you will find it
The treasure brought upon by your imagination
Did you want my company today?
You looked a little down
Unsure if tomorrow would be a better day
I see you dancing with them
You don't want to convince yourself of failure
You try to match their song
Like glass your colors become iridescent and opaque
Did you fear your bare form would scare them away?
How are you now?
You persist with your broken smiles
Do you think one day they will be real?
I see you don't want to dance anymore
Why do you keep going?
You know it's an illusion
You're convinced the fantasy would one day take a real form
The cracks beneath their skin are bleeding through
You try to patch them in silver and gold
Where are you today?
I don't see you around anymore
Did you find what you were looking for?
I saw you dancing the other day
You built a mask out of the broken pieces of your dreams
You must have unraveled the truth behind their words
You keep tripping over their vines and thorns
But you remained unfazed by the pain
Come back
I know your legs are bruised and sore
I can wait until they heal
I can rebuild the foundation from which your dreams once stood
I didn't see you yesterday
There's blood where you once danced
There's a melancholic mask swaying against the cold breeze
I heard you no longer wish to dance
Will you ever try again?
Hello, again
Can I come in?
I know you're drowning in the past
I know your legs sting from what you've endured
But give me a moment of your time
Let me rescue you from the abyss from which you fell into
Let me clean their colors that had been smeared on to you
And together, anew, we can dance until your dreams come back
Wind Witch
Spoiler:
There's a bounce in their step
Like a soft breeze in a summer's eve
Caressing and vanishing
Unable to be held
Unable to be tracked
Oh, kind siren of the wind
When will you come again?
Remind them of life's gentleness
That there is peace amidst the heat of chaos
Without you a day is too hot
They crave your sweet nothings
Your bittersweet embrace
But you never linger long
Oh, cruel mistress of the sky
Why must you bless them
Only to leave them yearning for more
Do you not see the desperation in their eyes?
Why would you give them a glimpse of hope
Only to leave them in the state you found them
Don't leave them to their devices
They don't know how to rise above
They don't know how to follow the ever changing wind
They drown in their misery
And now they drown in your memory
Oh, kind siren of the wind
Why did you leave them to die
Obsession
Spoiler:
Today it was a red rose
Morning dew had speckled its unusual brightness
Was it always there?
The sunlight now feels more welcoming
Everything smells ever so sweeter
They linger without the sour tinge
Did it always seem this way?
The world now seems so vivid
Glowing
Brilliant
Radiant
When was the last time I've felt so alive?
His picturesque speech danced before an unremarkable backdrop
Now it blends in tandem with mine
It's an attractive array of rhymes and laughter
Is this a dream?
He seeped into my bleak future
It's now coated in a kaleidoscope of vibrant, pastel hues
Wishful thinking no longer feels so out of reach
Do I want to stumble further in?
Like a lovesick child I break the chains around my heart
I let him relish in this garden of glee
Where rhapsodies of praise await his arrival
Let's perch beneath the weeping willows
Swim in my crystal pools free of judgement
Do you want me to do more?
Warmth
Devotion
Love
Do you want more?
Can I do more?
Should I do more?
Endless reverie
A reality now my fantasy
Joy at every corner
When will this end?
Should it end?
Do I want it to end?
I'm blinded by your splendor
A fool clinging to a piece of paradise
Will you ever let me go?
Will you ever show regret?
I don't want it to end
Today I saw that red rose
Its beauty stolen by the wheels of time
Its withered form on the verge of collapsing
I don't want it to end
I won't let it end.
