Yes.

Nostalgia makes most people like Johto. Hoenn is hated. Sinnoh is in the middle and everyone likes Kanto.

This region people either hate or like, you're a liker apparently. :(

I'm certainly not going to look into Gen 5 too much because I don't want to spoil myself.

But I have GOT to be one of the few people who feels that Hoenn surpasses Johto in many retrospects. Sure, I loved Johto, I played S/C out until I couldn't play it no more, but what I love about the Gen 3 games is that there's always so much to do there, and the plot is a lot more exciting, especially in Emerald. And unlike G/S/C/HG/SS, the excitement of the game doesn't boil down once you've beaten every gym and beaten the Elite Four. Hoenn is ridicually underrated. <_<
