As I said before, they're only useful if you travel often. If you don't, you shouldn't waste your time. I'm sure even your parents have their money limits, and even then laptops are limited. As in, desktops can usually always run the latest processors, motherboards, video cards, etc. whereas laptops can usually only run ones that are a year (or more) old.

In other words, you should only get a laptop if you need it.
