Earlier today many Pokemon Go players received a notification from the app that was just the letter R. Like this.

Then a few hours later the official Pokemon Go posted these images on all their social media

Followed by a link to a livestream of the Team Rocket logo

Obviously this is a tie-in to the Team Rocket event and the discolored Pokestops and Shadow Pokemon, but there's no details on what this is. What are your thoughts on this? What kind of secret do Niantic have up their sleeves?

I saw that notification as my phone crashed, and was confused.... is this the Team Go Rocket takeover? Oh no.

Turns out its an event happening where all Pokestops will be turned into Team Rocket Pokestops between 4-5 local time.

Unfortunately I'll be at work when this is happening so I cant even participate. Which sucks cause this makes easy to get all the Shadow Pokemon. Will you guys be doing this today?

We'll be going out soon and doing as many of these as we can! 3PM here now. Not as excited for the Rocket stops as I am for hopefully encountering a shiny if I'm lucky, but still neat 👍

good haul! several rattata, zubat, and bulbasaur, two wartortle, charmeleon, marshtomp, and squirtle. hopefully there will be a bigger variety of shadow mons the next time they do a TR takeover.

Got to face off against two Grunts... ended up catching a shadow Zubat, the shadow Charmander I was trying to catch ended up running away.

I was only able to do the one our store had while hiding in the bathroom. xD

We've had several more shadow mons released since, like Poliwag, Cubone, and Houndour among others. Anyone got any new ones?? I've done 35 or 36 TR stops so far and have started to purify and then release some of the duplicate catches since it's taking up a lot of space aaaa.
