I feel like getting my "obvious troll is obvious" picture out. In his first post, he says "I've also bough a gun so I will be able to kill myself before 12/21/12." DEAD GIVEAWAY (heh, pun, heh). Come on, people, you're better than this.

Also, the reply he will undoubtedly make denying that he is a troll is ALSO a troll, so ignore that, too.

Your intentions are good, but you're defending a troll. Not uncommon; there usually is someone who does this unwittingly. He wasn't stating his opinion, he was provoking a reaction, and he succeeded.

In other news, the world's supposed ending or not ending doesn't really affect me much. If it really is going to end, it'll be more obvious closer to that date; we'll be in a dangerous war, or there will be a meteor hurling toward earth or something (or, most likely, we'll find out it's a bunch of nonsense). My purpose doesn't change whether the world ends now or in a bajillion years, though how I go about it might.
 
If the worrld ends on that date it will only be because people will go crazy worrying and stressing about it that they will make it come true themselves.

This is complete B.S. The ancient dude who wrote the calendar either A. ran out of room to write because it's a circle, B. didn't feel like writing anymore years considering he's already written from his year all the way to 2012, or C. was a retard. How are anicent people wearing nothing but animal skin supposed to know when the world is gonna end?

there is the mayan calander like you said and every 1000 years it resets for some reason. this was like the machine being sent to space which could cause a black hole or in 2012 the world will end but they didn't have a reason did they? not that I know of. oh! forgot the black hole was like 99% not gonna happen whilst this is just plain rumers lies =P. if I'm wrong sorry apoligiez but the only reason the world could end any time soon is if there is nuclear war which I pray don't happen

Eh, if the world does get destroyed, I'm totally prepared. Sophomoore year I wrote a paper on "How to Survive a Zombie Invasion while the World Blows up and the Demons of Hell have Risen and destroyed the atmosphere and created a Black Hole and caused a Supernova." The funny part is that I actually did. xD My Lit. teacher told us to write an essay on "How to survive (insert something here)". The End of the World got nothing on me.

Nobody "picked" Y2K. People thought the world would end because all our computer systems would malfunction, as they were using two digits for the year back then (which means that, upon hitting year 2000, many systems would suddenly think it was 1900, screwing up a lot of stuff). A lot of work was done to prevent just this from happening (especially by businesses); there were a few systems that got screwy, but for the most part, all the work on fixing system clocks prevented anything spectacular from happening.

Sane and smart? Looking at mere coincidence and assuming something of supernatural origin without any evidence whatsoever is not sane nor smart.

If you recall the Y2K bug, then you would see so many people freaking out about this. Some people actually planned to commit atrocities because of the supposed impending doom.

And before I forget, whoever said that the end of the world will be painful? You are just making asinine assumptions.

Why does everybody keep going on and on about 2012? Nothins gonna happen, and that's it. Remember all that crazyness when it turned 2000? I bet the same thing is gonna happen when it turns December 21, 2012! People going crazy, convinced that doomsday is upon them and then nothing happens, This is all just a bunch of nonsense if you ask me!
 
I like how the troll earlier assumed that the end of the world would be extremely violent and disturbing and that suiciding himself before the date makes him the saner person. :P

Really, I believe that the world will not "end" on that date per se, but it is highly possible that famine and economic crisis will ignite a worldwide war on that date, which goes along with Nostradamus's predictions a lot better than, "lol ur world explodes and everyone falls down ded."

Of course, this can all be a self-fulfilling prophecy if there is some insane warlord somewhere in the third-world that decides to totally declare war on the UN or something on that date. >_>

If you fear death, get over it, everybody dies someday.
This is obviously a load of B.S, If the world does end humans would not know when.
Even if their is data to back it up, you might as well draw a year from a card and say the world will end.
 
The thing is, you just know that come 2012, there is going to be massive uproar when nothing happens. People are going to be going crazy the day before: mass suicides, living without fear of future consequences...either way, it's not going to be a happy time for the human race.
 
Apocalypse my butt. If there actually is one, I won't be around to take flak for saying it wasn't going to happen anyway, so I'll say here that I don't believe a word of it. Did Y2K happen? No. Did the Devil take over the world on the 6th of June, 2006? No. (At least, as far as I know.)

You know, I don't care if the world ends Dec21'11 or not, if it happens, we probably won't be able to avoid it, if not, sweet. It'll happen some other time.

Exactly! Presuming for a moment that the world will end in 2012, when it's 'supposed' to, we can't avert it. I mean sure, knowledge of the future gives you the ability to choose your destiny, but with modern science how it is and no clue how the world is supposed to end anyway, I can't see them finding a solution. But like I said before, I think it's rubbish.
