— How This Works

The PokéCommunity League is a team tournament, and the goal is to get inducted into the Hall of Fame. The competition is split up into seasons. There are sign-up phases at the beginning of each season so that existing teams can recruit more players; users can only sign up at this time. Each season is focused on one metagame, and every battle done in that season must be performed in said metagame. During a season there is a primary tournament to decide which team makes it into the playoffs. Once the playoffs ends and the winning team is decided, they will be added to the Hall of Fame. Then, the season ends and a new one starts.

• Each team has their own distinct name and Pokémon mascot. The amount of people in a team depends on how many players we have in the PC League (seven members is the maximum for one team). New teams might be made after a season's sign-up phase, but preexisting teams will continue to be used until most of their original members have left. During a sign-up phase, members can join an existing team or make one of their own with other members (if there isn't a team limit). Keep in mind that you cannot switch teams once they have been confirmed, but exceptions may be given if there's a good reason.

• The primary tournament is round-robin, but users don't fight their own team members. Basically, members must complete one match with everyone else on the opposing teams. Every team starts with a score of 100 points. Each match won by a user earns their team 10 points, and each match lost by a user drops their team's score by 10. If a team's score reaches zero, they are disqualified until next season. Once everyone has battled each other, the primary tournament ends. The four teams with the most points move onto the playoffs (all teams move onto the playoffs if there's four or less total teams).

• The playoffs is also a round-robin tournament, but instead of user vs user, it is team vs team. Each round is made up a single bracket with one team vs another, another team vs another, etc. User match-ups are organized by however many points the user earned their team in the last tournament (i.e. the best battler on the team fights the other team's best battler). Winning a round gives the winning team 150 points; losing a round doesn't affect the losing team's score. Once every team has battled each other, the winner of the season is decided. The team with the most points (this includes points from the previous tournament) wins and is inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Okay so, we now have enough people to make two teams of seven members. However, I know that we have more users around here so I'm going to shoot for a 20 participant amount. If we reach 20 participants, it will be possible to make four teams of five people (then increase the team size to seven members next season). It's also possible to do three teams of seven people if we get a 21 participant amount.

I'd like to let people know that anyone who signs up past the 15 mark has a chance of not making it into the league if we don't get five more participants after that.
