Puns!

Have you ever tried to do something with your character that you are just bad at? For example, humor. I am extremely bad at puns, yet I always seem to make characters who enjoy them, leaving me staring at a screen for minutes at a time thinking "How can I turn that into some sort of pun?". Is this just a problem with me?

I made a character that was extremely British and posh. And I'm neither posh or British, so I did get in some writing trouble there.

I also have a character who has a stupid sense of humour, but I'm too funny

I think the problem with humour is that it's hard to give characters different distinct senses of humour, unless you as the writer are a very comedic person. Characters will likely take over the comedic style of the writer, which isnt a bad thing, but if you want to write a character for who humour is very important, it's easier to shape them after yours.

It's funny I guess, in real life I tend to be somewhat comedic - albeit in a dry and sarcastic way. When it comes to my writing though, I really struggle to write humour for the most part. Humour doesn't come to me when I want it to, my jokes are always very spur of the moment which is why there is always a huge fluctuation in how funny my "funny" posts actually are.

I think... If I try to play strong leaders, I'll end up feeling a bit weak, as if the other players' characters are actually wiser or more able than I am. I have played leaders before, but mostly "NPCs", where everybody assumed that they'd be leaders from the start. If I write in a personal character's SU that they are good leaders, I won't be sure that I can live up to it.

I made a skeleton man whose bones were magnetically attracted to each other. He was going to always make skeleton or space puns but leave them open at the end without finishing the joke. But I'm also terrible at puns and the rp never went anywhere because everyone got busy.
