[Sword & Shield] 4chan leak confirmed

Will the 4chan leak affect the games?

Will the 4chan leak that was confirmed true affect the games in any way?
Like will they not release Sword/Shield in the states, or just not give us gen 8 outright. You know, something to discourage people from leaking in the future.
The potential repercussions of this leak keep me up at night.

I find it extremely unlikely they'd do that. Miss out on way too much money by not releasing it to a market like the U.S., nevermind that they'd be punishing other people for what someone else did.

It's hardly the first time stuff has been leaked from Pokemon games anyway

The part I'm most skeptical of is Gigantamaxing. Introducing two transformational super power battle gimmicks seems too unusual to me. The name kinda comes off to me as a beta name for Dynamaxing, and maybe it's just being confused with potential new regional variants (Meowth getting both a new regional+Gigantamaxing?).
so I guess I was dead wrong about this

newest trailer certainly makes this leak more legit, so in the future we'll likely be seeing some of the other stuff mentioned in it

I think this is further confirmed by the lack of transferring from old Pokémon combined with the removal of Mega Evolution. It's practically guaranteed that all gen 1 Pokémon will be in Galar due to Home compatibility with LGPE; if we get another Alola situation, where the majority of the regional dex (even more in number than the new Pokémon themselves) is gen 1, it stands to reason they will get the majority (or more likely, the entirety) of the new gimmick transformations. And without Megas, Pokémon like the Galar region Champion's own ace, Charizard, will need something to replace them. What better than the new transformation gimmick of the generation? Who knows, Charizard may even get two again.

Someone asked Masuda if Pokemon from LGPE could be transferred over, and Masuda said "only if they're in the Galar Dex." This makes it likely that some Gen 1 Pokemon would be left out. Also, this leak is now pretty much legitimate with the reveals of Gigantamax and Chairman Rose and his assistant Oleanda.
