5 moves instead of 4?

Okay, personally, I didn't notice this one when I was watching Treehouse coverage over and over, but a discussion from a certain YouTuber that I watched recently highlighted this notable change:

    [PokeCommunity.com] 5 moves instead of 4?

(Yep, the numbers are marked by the Youtuber)

That's strange, since I thought they managed to keep the move slots up to 4 moves so far, so I'm wondering if this mean that Pokémon will have 5 moves instead of the usual 4? Or do they decided to keep 4 moves but leaving one last slot for ultimate moves of some sort?

I suggested that we could get a Burst Evolution similar to Pokken. When they Burst evolve, turning into a gold pokemon, Break Evolution from TCG, they could get a 5th move based on their typing.

I literally came here to say exactly what you said; both the TCG and pokken references! I had conceived this as a much more likely alternative to "synchro evolution".

For those who aren't familiar with the TCG, break evolution gives the pokemon a little more HP and a new move in addition to it's old moves. (Regular evolution replaces all the old moves).

It should also be noted that some pokemon get new moves/combos during synergy burst. Also the stones in the sun and moon logos actually look identical to the ones in pokken. I really don't understand why people would assume their burst hearts over synergy stones, considering we barely have any information to say it's even either of those.

As Gimme said, that fifth slot could likely be what activates Mega Evolution or whatever other mechanic replaces it if Megas don't make it into this generation.

Wound't that fit the space for the held item? Unless it is on another screen then I just think it is more likely to be something like that. 5 moves would shake things up quite a bit and personally I think 4 moves is enough.

The fifth slot being a held item could be more plausible. 4 moveslots is something I doubt would change at this stage now.

It could be the mega button, but I figured that would be in the center of the screen.

Some people are forgetting that Kukui is the Professor of pokemon moves. That is another reason I say it could be a Burst evolution move or something. Because he is the Pokemon Professor of Attacks. This was confirmed at E3.

Not to mention, Ash-Greninja learns Giant Shuriken after it changes. Rayquaza Mega Evolves with a specific move. Keldeo and Meloetta also transform when they use a specific attack. (Or learn a specific attack. I can't remember if it is when used or learns.)

I think I have several possibilities regarding this theory, if Pokémon will eventually have 5 move slots:

Scenario 1: Pokémon might still learn 4 moves, but under some circumstances, when they evoke special powers (like let's say, Mega Evolution), they might unlock the 5th move exclusive on that mode.

Scenario 2: Pokémon might learn 5 moves over time, so the battle screen have to give room for 5 selections, since the one shown at Treehouse have only 4 move slots.

But then, I think it's best to take these speculations into grain of salt atm.
