5th Gen 5th Gen Pokemon of the Week #5: Gothitelle

[PokeCommunity.com] 5th Gen Pokemon of the Week #5: Gothitelle

Gothitelle is a mono-Psychic type pokemon who evolved from Gothorita at Level 41. It's basically a humanoid pokemon resembling 'gothic and mademoiselle' french traits. Gothitelle's immense psychic power can distort the space around it, showing visions of distant stars and past events. It can predict the future from the placement and movement of stars; it can even detect the lifespan of living beings.

Moves from Level:

What do you think of Gothitelle in general? How about it's design? Did you prefer to use this pokemon, or Reuiniclus? Do you use it in-game often? Any other thoughts?

I really love the design of the Gothita evolution line, in fact to the point I wanted to play Black as my main version because I remember everyone wanting White due to people liking its exclusives better. And I did have my experience using Gothitelle on my main story team in Black, did a great job as my reliable special attacker while also having a few support moves for utility.

People claim she's a Gardevoir rip-off, but unlike Gardevoir, this line does have a notably more common chance to be female.

I really love this thing's cry. It belongs to a horror movie.

I was always reminded of Psycho when I heard Gothitelle's cry, and I know it because I watched a very iconic scene from said film... the one where the woman dies in the shower. I don't like how Gothitelle's cry sounds in 6th Gen though, it feels totally nerfed if you ask me.

Personally I find the design really bland considering the its pre evos actually look interesting/nice.

Also I have a personal grudge against the Gothilette like for setting the design ques for the delfox line of cute basic stage, smooth curves for stage 1 and completely bland body design for stage 2.

I like Gothitelle's design. Whilst part of me thinks it should be a Psychic/Dark Type, its design is intriguing with the multiple bows and dress.

The Gothitelle line is the black counterpart to the Reuniclus line and whilst I like the Reuniclus line and have used it in-game, my favourite Pure Psychic Type is Gothitelle.

It was the Ace on my White 2 Unova Psychic Monotype and is a Pokémon I use regularly.

On its cry whilst its Gen 5 cry was perhaps more fitting it may have been changed to avoid legal disputes.

I actually quite like the entire evolution line, although I prefer the Reuniclus line.

I have used Gothitelle in many Wifi-Battles, it makes a pretty decent revengekiller with it's HA shadow tag and Choice Scarf. Pretty fun set there. She gets some interesting moves as well, like Future Sight, Telekinesis, Mirror Coat and Magic Room.

As for the design, I like the dress, but just take a look at her face man. It reminds me of facing my rival back in 2nd Gen, it's the same snotty expression, saying "Who are you? I don't care about weaklings like you. Bugger off." I really like that.

I remember that there was a Pokémon event in my local mall ages ago, where they showed off some previews of the Fifth Gen. Pokémon games. One of the previews showed Gothitelle, and boy was I excited for this Pokémon. I really thought it was going to be a Dark type, what with its colour scheme, so when I found out it was a Psychic type I ended up not capturing one.

I still really like its design, and I might train one in a future playthrough. I restarted my Fifth Gen. games, so I might capture one then, when I stop being too lazy.

It's taken me awhile to get used to Gothitelle. As a pure psychic Pokemon, I think it's great!

I think a notable contributing factor was having very balanced stats to a point there likely wasn't a stat it was bad in. Attack was really the only stat she didn't need, but was still able to learn a lot of odd physical moves by TMs.

I usually make mine offensive, and sometimes part-defensive as well.
