The best part about it is that the sequel games were a vast improvement over the first two - the region wasn't linear anymore, you could catch a lot more foreign Pokemon, and there were a ton of cool things like the Pokestar Studio movies and the Pokemon World Tournament that pitted you against gym leaders/champions from old games...
Team Plasma got a makeover in this game to become like... black ops paramilitary dudes. It was badass. Ghetsis was also way more unhinged to the point where he would have iced your character directly if it weren't for N's intervention. (And then there's the damage they did to Opelucid City)
Colress is also a fascinating character that only seems to be concerned with science instead of taking over the world... and as such doesn't really care about what Plasma does. He's great.

Thoughts:
- Carracosta is a Pokemon with a neat design. They're a prehistoric rock turtle that knows Shell Smash but they get swept away by Grass types pretty easily. Not much else to say about them.
- Solid Rock is a great ability, but you also have Sturdy on there. Free Focus Sash or reduce damage from super effective attacks by a quarter... that is the question.

Thoughts:
- Archeops is by far and away the more interesting of the fossil duo for this generation. It's a rainbow rock bird with a silly face and monster level attack on both ends. It's even stronger than Mega Aerodactyl, although nowhere near as fast.
- The problem with this little guy, though? DEFEATIST. It may not be as bad as Truant, but it's still awful as it does nothing but hinder Archeops. When Archeops lose half of their health, their attack and special attack get halved... making this otherwise cool bird dinosaur an unbelievable coward. It sucks.
- I guess you could argue that makes them more charming in a way, but it's such an annoying aspect of them that holds them back from their true potential.
- Archeops appears to be based off of the Archaeopteryx (arch-ayo-puh-terix - the tongue twisters never end), a dinosaur that's believed to be the original bird. Neat. They even bring this up in the game, so that's cool.

- Behold my beautiful trash child. Trubbish and Garbodor are Pokemon that always seem to bite the trash end of the stick and I never quite understood it. Is it because they're living garbage monsters? Their middling competitive worth?
- I never saw the living garbage aspect of them to be bad, to be completely honest with you. I thought it was a neat thing, especially with how cute Trubbish is and how cool Garbodor looks. They're like a trash goblin.
- I can definitely see Garbodor working as a boss monster in another game - in fact, they remind me of the Forlorn Junk Heap from Mother 3... a boss that's not only tough but also creative due to being a vengeful clay man amalgamated with all the junk in the area.
- Plus, don't they eat garbage themselves? Isn't that a good thing? Oh whatever. I like them.

Thoughts:
- Hot damn, look at this one.
- Zoroark is one of my top favorite Pokemon thanks to their incredible dark kabuki fox look, their unique and tricky ability, and their surprising viability when it comes to battle.
- Illusion is one hell of a power as it lets Zoroark take the form of the last Pokemon in your roster, so if you know how to play them, you can play some real mindgames with your opponent.
- Their color scheme of red and black with blue eyes is really soothing to the eye, and sort of reminds me of Darkrai minus the whole uncontrollable nightmare effect.
- They were so cool they got their own movie (Zoroark: Master of Illusions) and were event-only prior to Black 2 and White 2... I mean, damn.

- This adorable little chinchilla mon is infamous for two things - their above-average speed and access to Skill Link.
- They have a unique move called Tail Slap that hits multiple times in a row, with Skill Link letting them hit all five times. At first it seems like a good idea... until you realize it has only 25 base power and an accuracy of 85%. That, and it's not strong enough to pierce through Steel types and outright whiffs ghosts.
- Oh well. They're too cute to be fighting anyway.

- Well son of a bitch, I would have never expected this one to come out of Gen 5.
- The entire Gothitelle family is precious to me and for multiple reasons. First off, their uniquely bizarre yet gorgeous gothic lolita-inspired appearance. Gothorita is arguably my favorite of the bunch due to striking a better balance of design elements than Gothitelle themselves.
- There's male Gothitelle out there too, but this is actually truth in fiction - male gothic lolita do exist and they're just as elegant as their female counterparts. I think it's all neat stuff.
- Second, Gothitelle is Satan in physical form when it comes to the metagame. All of their abilities can ruin playstyles in one way or another, but the greatest offender here is Shadow Tag... which stops you from escaping if you're not a ghost type.
- Despite their delicate looks, Gothitelle are ridiculously durable and will abuse this from start to finish if the person who has them knows what they're doing. I love it.
- It helps that at least one of the line gets some creepy fortune teller ability where they can see their trainer's lifespan as if they were some living death clock. That's uh... comforting.

- This little guy may not hit the same chords as Gothitelle for me, but they're still great. They're either a cell or an embryo that grows to become a big poofy jelly monster... that's also a telepath.
- The Reuniclus family are notorious for setting up Trick Rooms and are just beefy enough to get them off reliably. Their incredible 125 special attack helps things go along too just so they don't get completely shut down by Taunt users.

- Ducklett is largely average and Swanna looks pretty, but that's literally all they have going for them. It gets worse by Gen 7, seeing as Pelipper is now a major Pokemon to use due to being a cheap and easy Drizzle user.
- I feel they were going for an "ugly duckling" thing here, but they already did that far better in Gen 3 with Feebas and Milotic... It's especially ironic considering this is an actual duck that turns into a swan.

- This is another one that gets flack for being an uncreative item-based Pokemon. I'm not entirely on board with that idea seeing as I find some appeal out of the Vanilliuxe line... but I will admit they were stretching it a bit here.
- See, I'm part of the camp that rationalizes that people in the Pokemon world based their objects off of Pokemon that already existed in nature. They got ice cream from how Vanilluxe and pals looked - that kind of thing. It's the one that makes the most sense.
- When it comes to fighting, there's far better ice types you could be using... like Weavile or Mamoswine for example.

- Seasonal (Introduced in Black and White 1): Changes appearance based on what season it is. Purely cosmetic and you can only catch the spring form in every game past Gen 5.
- Hi Bambi.
- I mean, yeah. Deerling is cute and Sawsbuck is graceful, but the most interesting thing about them is how they change appearance based on the season. Gen 5 actually changed its layout depending on what season it was in real life, like snow in Winter, leaves in fall, and so on.
- It was an ambitious concept that was never re-used in the games beyond this one, so that's a bit of a shame.
- Unfortunately, Sawsbuck is horrendous for fights due to their largely average stats and a whopping total of six weaknesses! Like damn, that is tragic.
- Oh well. At least they're more interesting than Stantler.

- Emolga is hands down the best Pikaclone (except for maybe Mimikyu, but how they stack in the Pikaclone ladder will remain a mystery). They have a novel and precious flying squirrel design with a great white and black color scheme and an excellent ability in Motor Drive, allowing them to jump into Electric attacks with no hassle.
- Their stats are not the greatest and they're allergic to rocks and ice... but damn it if I don't love them. I wish they got a Mega Evolution that made them some uber beast, but alas... that will remain a pipe dream.

- Karrablast and Shelmet share a very... close relationship.
- In all seriousness, Escavalier is my favorite of the two just because of how it becomes an armored lance bug with sharpened barber poles as arms. Their inexplicable floating may be the only way they can get around, but they're still pretty badass.
- You are effectively a sturdier counterpart to Scizor, an already strong Pokemon... as long as you don't encounter a Fire-type Pokemon. There's always a catch...
- Their evolution method, while unique, is a severe pain in the ass because you both need specific Pokemon to pull it off. I already don't like trade evolutions due to it requiring other people who might not always be there, but I guess you reap what you sow when you work with version exclusive games.

- I actually cannot stand this thing yet I also can't hate it enough to give it a score below 3 stars. Their names are an insipid pun that references some Spongebob episode (or something, this is the closest I've got) and their amanita Pokeball design is really pushing it, but it's also just creative enough for me to not completely trash it.
- The fact it's a sturdy Pokemon with access to Spore and Rage Powder for doubles (diverts attention to Amoonguss) make it annoying to deal with... but then there's the bit where it serves as the mimic for Unova.
- Like Foongus and Amoonguss are mistaken for Pokeballs. I can understand Foongus because it's tiny, but how does that work with Amoonguss being over two feet tall?
- The best thing this thing has is that their hands are supposedly budding Foongus, but that's the extent I can say for this one.

- Frillish and Jellicent are spooky little jellyfishes that hold the title of the first Water/Ghost type in the series. Sure, their evolutions are the ghost of the Pringles Guy and a big puffy pink balloon, but they're explicitly described to cause shipwrecks and that their favorite food is life energy.
- Their royal nature is likely inspired by a jellyfish yokai called the Nurarihyon, who either appears as a demonic jellyfish or a man with regal clothing... so that's hella neat.
- They're great for Trick Room teams due to their slow nature and their beefy health, but just be careful of grass and other ghost types.

- Oh hey, Luvdisc got an evolution!
- ... Wait, no. That's what theywant you to think. It's like they wanted to draw an evolution for Luvdisc but remembered at the last second that Gen 5 can't link to any of the previous generations due to the whole "Unova only" Pokemon gig they were running at the time. (Which, in hindsight, is incredibly stupid)
- It is a damn shame too, because Luvdisc deserved better than what it got.
- Alomomola has a palindrome for a name and is an intensely durable Pokemon, almost serving as a physical counterpart to Chansey. I guess give them a try if you want to use a big poofy fish as your cleric.

- Joltik is so small and cute that I actually forget my fear of spiders.
- Galvantula, on the other hand... is still pretty cuddly. It's a giant electric spider and is the more vicious cousin compared to Ariados thanks to their unique Electroweb move that lowers speed. There's also having Sticky Web because naturally, they're a spider.
- I prefer them over Ariados if I'm going to be frank here.

- Alright, so... We have a giant metal durian with iron flails that it uses to support its big spiky body. I approve. There's so many Ferrothorn in the metagame and honestly, I can't really blame the people who use them - this thing is a tank. It can survive almost everything, including some weaker Fire types.
- Trying to punch this thing is a bad idea due to Iron Barbs, and it's made even worse if they have a Rocky Helmet equipped... Although, how does a helmet on top of an already spiked creature do even more recoil damage than be-- yeah, I'm not trying to figure that out.

- ... Not gonna lie, I think Klink is better looking than its evolutions. It's this cute little gear creature with a perpetual "oh no" face, so it's a great shame they didn't improve it as it evolved.
- We could have gotten a super-cool mecha Pokemon or something like Magnezone, but nope - just stack more bits onto the design and you're done. Like come on.
- It doesn't help that aside from their Shift Gear (1.5x attack and speed) and Gear Grind (forcefully squishing their opponent between them), they're not very good for fights either.
- I guess the most notable thing I can say about them is that I found a shiny member of their family during my birthday. So... uh... hurray?

- The Eelekross family consist of these funky little eel monsters that spontaneously have the power to float. The best thing about this? Levitate removes the Electric type's one weakness, so this thing has no weaknesses!
- ... Against the other elements. It's slow and not very durable, and that 115 attack gets whittled away by Will-o-Wisp, but they're still a rad Pokemon. I like how Eelektross looks with their wavy body and scary mouth - they're great.

Thoughts:
- Alien life has always been a point of discussion regarding Pokemon, hasn't it? Where do they fit into this whole shindig? Deoxys and Clefable are explicitly not of this world, so why did they come to Earth?
- The Beheeyem line are more cosmic travelers - they're strange, big-headed creatures with psychic powers that resemble the infamous "grey" alien appearance.
- Elgyem's name has always confused me until someone pointed out that it was literally spelling out L.G.M., an acronym for "little green man" - aka. a stereotypical appearance for aliens in media.
- Beheeyem is even less straighforward as it's based off of an old fashioned term used to refer to extraterrestrials... and they might be a big brain as indicated by their appearance and crazy special attack.
- They're a very intriguing species, even if their names trip me up all the time.

Thoughts:
- My lovely chandelier Pokemon finally takes the scene.
- Litwick is a criminally adorable little mound of wax with blue fire growing out of their head while Lampent has little wiggly arms.
- Their final form, Chandelure, is both spooktacular and beautiful as they have black metal frames and blue fire to compliment their beady yellow eyes and translucent body.
- I have an adoration for blue fire, and it helps that Chandelure is one of the most powerful non-Mega evolved, non-legendary special attackers out there. Flash Fire helps a lot in this regard.
- Their Pokedex entries are wonderfully morbid thanks to them scouting out people that are near death so they can absorb their souls and burn them up. That's twisted, especially for a children's pocket monster game.
- They are one of the best Ghost types out there, and I get happy every time I see one.

- Even with the silly ax related name, these guys are badass.
- Axew and Fraxure are good little blade dragons but Haxorus steals the show here.
- They are rad-looking with an ax mouth and yellow armor skin, making them look like some hardened dragon soldier. The only thing that makes this design even better is the shiny, which turns the gold parts pure black, so you know that's cool.
- Their sky-high attack is the most stand-out aspect of their stats, however, but a Dragon Dance will fix that speed right up.
- They may not be the premier pseudo legendary of this generation, but they're still a fearsome dragon in their own right.

- Polar bear! Cubchoo makes me squeal with delight because of how precocious they are while... Beartic has an icy snot beard. Gross.
- Aside from that, they're average. I'm not sure if Slush Rush was an ability introduced in Sun and Moon or if it was along all this time, but Swift Swim makes sense because polar bears tend to have to chase their food... aka. fish.

- I'm gonna level with you - I thought Cryogonal evolved from Beartic. Like the polar bears turned into a giant freaky snowflake monster that cries a lot.
- Cryogonal has a fantastically weird design that makes you wonder where the hell it came from and how it came into being. It's said to be created of ice crystals and reforms from steam when the temperature lowers... so there's that of all things.
- Despite that, they shatter into pieces at a single Fighting attack and are more useful for Rapid Spin than any actual fighting. I mean, it's a giant snowflake mirror - are you really going to expect something durable out of this?

- You know, I really like the idea that these two have going on here. They trade their respective features to evolve and become these rad bug monsters in the process. Escavalier may be my personal favorite of the two, but Accelgor cannot be understated.
- It's a mummy bug ninja that has their arms crossed and has the most accurate name out of any Pokemon yet - 140 speed is absolutely nuts and just might even Ninjask a run for their money.
- One of the cool things about Accelgor is that they also utilize the Final Gambit strategy - essentially, they come at you with everything they've got and don't hold back even at the cost of their own health. Badass.

- ... I actually forgot Stunfisk existed before I made this retrospective. Honestly? It's the one Pokemon I didn't want to remember existed.
- I should like Stunfisk due to it being based off of the insanely creepy northern stargazer (a creature straight from your nightmares that hides on the sea floor), but it's so bad in many respects that I can't even be positive about it.
- First off, their dopey appearance... That's the best thing about them, but it errs on unattractive due to just being a deflated whoopee cushion fish with a beak mouth.
- Second, their stats would have you think they're a defensive wall, but they get crippled by status effects and get whittled down by status effects quick. Their offensive stats aren't much better and don't justify them for a Trick Room team...
- Third, the Ground/Electric typing is neat, but it could be far better appreciated on a different Pokemon.
- Ultimately, I'd rather not be reminded of Stunfisk. It's a stupid flat fish and I (almost) don't like any part of it.

Thoughts:
- Out of any fighting type they've introduced so far, Mienfoo and Mienshao are arguably the best ones of the bunch. They're deadly, elegant stoat (short-tailed weasel) creatures whose fighting style resembles whip fighting combined with martial arts like Taekwondo and so on.
- Mienfoo is a cute little weasel but their purple, pseudo-long sleeved Mienshao evolution is the best. Their reliable 105 speed combined with that attack make them dangerous to fight, even if the occasional ghost comes by. Knock Off tends to solve that problem, though. (Unless you're talking about Sableye)
- Basically, I love my chinese martial arts weasel.

- Druddigon is... well, an odd dragon. Their head is a different color from the rest of their body and their overall look is a bit too rough for my likes (heh). I like the unconventional aspect of this one, but...
- At the same time I feel they suffer due to their unusually poor stat pool and overall being an inferior one-stage counterpart to the Haxorus family.
- They have to be the weakest Dragon-type from a concept and battle standpoint, if I'm gonna be honest here.

- A ghostly statue mecha that flies at mach speed and serves as an ancient protector? How could you go wrong with that?
- The Golurk family is exceptionally badass thanks to their high physical attack, design and origin. The fact they're commonly depicted as flying with jet engines is really cool.
- Iron Fist and No Guard are useful abilities as Golurk is all about punching things, but unfortunately they're not very sturdy beyond that.
- I'd gladly have a giant golem as my best friend, though.

Thoughts:
- Alright, there's apparently a dynamic going around that involved chess pieces. Pawniard and Bisharp are obvious, but there seems to be no Rook, Knight, King or Queen... Until you look at Golurk, Escavalier and the two Jellicents. I just figured this out right now.
- Anyway, Bisharp is badass. They're creepily humanoid blade monster that resembles a Kamen Rider and have an impeccable typing that gives them a lot of viability.
- Defiant prevents Bisharp's attack from getting lowered. That's dangerous in of itself, but this thing also gets a bonus from Sucker Punch due to being part Dark.
- They are the ultimate fairy killer - not a small feat by any means if you've seen how dangerous those suckers can get.
- Bisharp is a rad Pokemon and one of my go-to examples of really cool Gen 5 designs.

- I cannot look at this thing and not swell up with patriotism. Braviary is a badass bird of prey with a great attack stat and a design that screams AMERICA, seeing as it's based off of the bald eagle. It's appropriate that Unova is supposed to be the Pokemon world's equivalent to America.
- Defiant is always a good ability, although sadly it's the Hidden ability for this one.

- The Mandibuzz line may not be as awesome as Braviary, but they make up for it by being cool in their own way.
- Vullaby straight up has a skull as their diaper - that's how you know these birds mean business.
- Mandibuzz has a neat vulture design and are all female for some reason... huh. I like how their eyes look - it compliments their scumbag "barbarian" look, especially when you take their battle capacity into the picture.
- These things are stone walls of the highest non mineral caliber. They can take a severe amount of punishment before going down and can really stall out a match thanks to their Roost+Toxic strategies.
- Mandibuzzes are understated badasses - which is fitting considering vultures are scavengers by nature.

Thoughts:
- I love the dynamic these two have, possibly even more than Zangoose and Seviper.
- Heatmor is a mean-looking fiery anteater with a cool armor-like design. I like how it always looks upset at something and has these fancy gauntlets on its arms.
- Ants in the Pokemon world are made of metal and are almost as strong as Scizor. Someone needs to rent me a rocket because I don't want to live in this world anymore. Durant is fast and strong, but comes with an odd hidden ability: Truant, the same horrible ability that makes Slaking a tremendous joke. Why would you ever have this?
- ... The messed-up thing, though? Unlike Slaking, Durant can use Skill Swap to remove Truant and place it onto you. You'd have to get super creative and hope the other person doesn't switch out, but you could seriously trap someone with this. I know from experience.
- But yeah, these two work great together even if Heatmor is a relatively boring and straight-forward Fire type.

- Deino is an adorable little blind dragon that attacks things because it has no eyes. That's tragic in of itself, but then you get to Zweilous where it grows two heads that always fight amongst each other.
- Then it evolves into Hydreigon and grows a third head that controls the entire body while the other two become little hands. It's really twisted and I can sort of understand why it's called the Brutal Pokemon.
- It's an imposing creature that comes with a lot of firepower, although it sort of lost its luster when the sixth generation rolled around.
- Poor Hydreigon became the Fairy type's favorite whipping boy thanks to their 4x weakness to it... I can't help but feel sorry for it.
- It's still a badass dark hydra dragon that can murder people with Dark Pulse, though.

- Who was it that said that bug types evolve early? Because this is like the most wrong they've ever been.
- Larvesta doesn't seem like much until they evolve into the mighty Volcarona, a killer flaming moth that radiates with the power of the sun.
- Volcarona is amazing thanks to their sky high special attack, acceptable speed and decent survivability to everything that isn't shaped like a pebble. Their ridiculous coverage and Quiver Dance turn them into fiery hellbeasts in no time flat.
- They also look stunning thanks to their fiery wings and blue eyes, almost as if they're an insect messenger of the sun.

- The musketeer-inspired Pokemon are excellent in both design and strength, making them some of my favorite legendaries out there.
- Cobalion is based off of Athos, the oldest and the de facto leader of the musketeers. They're a cool steel goat that looks like they're wearing a fancy suit with a cravat. Classy.
- Terrakion is based off of Porthos, the heaviest and the strongest of the trio - appropriate considering that Terrakion is one of the most viable of the three and packs a serious wallop.
- Virizion is based off of Aramis, the pretty boy of the group that was all about swordplay. I like Virizion the most because of how feminine they look, even if they're not the strongest at the end of the day.
- Finally, there's the odd ball out - Keldeo, a cute water horse that may or may not be based off of the kelpie, a shape-shifting water spirit from Scotland.
- Keldeo is the stand-in for D'artanigan, the newest and the youngest member of the musketeers that holds a lot of potential. This is reflected when they gain a new form upon changing into their Resolute form, even though they gain no stat boosts whatsoever.
- Keldeo is the best out of the group not only for their design but also because they're the most powerful of the bunch... although it makes me wonder why they had to be an event legendary of all things.
- I am in love with their dynamic as the musketeer Pokemon and it helps that each one is amazing in their own right.

- The genies are an interesting trio - Tornadus and Thundurus are prankster storm spirits that whip up trouble while Landorus comes in to serve as a mediator and tell them to knock it off.
- Their uniform designs were alright, but the Therian forms are where it's at.
- Tornadus turns into a poofy sparrow, Thundurus turns into some weird electric heron thing and Landorus becomes this wicked-looking tiger beast. They're all creative designs and a marked step up from their near-identical genie appearances.
- Landorus-Therian and normal Thundurus are the most useful of the trio due to Prankster and Intimidate respectively. They both share a huge vulnerability to Ice but laugh off everything else.
- I think they're pretty neat.

- Truth and ideals... now, are they really opposites?
- The Tao Trio are intriguing legendaries in that they're a fire, electric and ice dragon respectively. When you mix fire and electricity together, you get plasma... They really thought about the dynamic these two would have.
- Reshiram is a vulpine-looking dragon that creates wicked strong fires and is my favorite of the two due to being a fluffy fox with wings - I mean, because of their crazy special attack and because I like fire.
- Zekrom is plain badass due to being a pitch-black lightning dragon that glows with blue electricity - both of them are so rad-looking that I honestly can't decide which one is cooler.
- Kyurem gets their own slot because fitting this and the fused forms would be too much for me. Sort of like how I had to split the details for the first games and the sequels into two separate parts.

- Kyurem is this frightening zombified husk of a dragon that doesn't seem to have much of a presence beyond staying in its claustrophobic cave in the middle of a snow-covered forest.
- This thing is so terrifying to people that it actually has a major effect on the people of Lacunosa - how they have to make a curfew so people don't get eaten by some godforsaken icy boogen.
- The most interesting thing about Kyurem, however, is that it used to be a complete dragon with Reshiram and Zekrom being the other two parts.
- The DNA Splicers are some of the most fascinating objects in the series as it allows Kyurem to re-fuse with its lost halves... the idea of Pokemon fusions in general is an amazing concept and I'm kind of sad it'll never get used beyond this one bit.
- White Kyurem is the Reshiram fusion, gifting them with a ridiculous 170 special attack. Since Kyurem has more special moves than physical ones, this is the more formidable of the two. It also looks really cool even if there's quite a bit going on design-wise.
- The Zekrom fusion, Black Kyurem, may not have the moveset to properly utilize their god-carnage level strength... but they're still an insanely powerful dragon that can smash your puny body with Bolt Strike. That, and their hunched over look and black, almost mechanical looking parts make them more intimidating than the Reshiram fusion.
- Now... just imagine what a 100% fusion of Kyurem would be like. That monster will be so strong it will put Mega Evolutions to shame.

- Meloetta is easily one of the best cute legendaries, although they're tied with the other first place spot on my list. Their battle capacity is great and all, but their design is what gets me head-over-heels for them.
- They are a precious little muse creature that can shift between two forms - the diva-like Aria form and the ballerina-esque Pirouette form.
- Everything about them works, from their adorable little black dress and weird bunny hairclip thing to their hair being the staff notation with little notes on them. They look fantastic.
- I'll admit, Relic Song being the only way they can switch forms is lame. Pirouette Meloetta really looks like they can kick some ass, so that's a shame. (That rhyme was not intentional.)
- What's worse is that the shiny of the Pirouette form has purple hair. I hate it when they give good colors to Pokemon you'll never get.

- So... someone at Team Plasma came up with the wonderful idea to resurrect an ancient predator and turn them into a cyborg with doomsday weapons. You know, like nature wasn't scary enough by itself - man has to go and make it worse.
- All joking aside, Genesect is rad as fuck. It is a vicious-looking metal bug fitted with laser cannons and is one of the most badass event Pokemon due to what it has going for it. Their name is literally a portmaneau of Genocide and Insect, for christ's sake!
- They are one of the most annoying users of U-turn and come with all of these cool drives that never get used because Choice Scarves are more important than Techno Blast. Shame, really.
- It's implied that they're a Kabutops reconstructed into a machine... if that's true, that's the most awesome redesign a Pokemon has ever gotten. Plasma really got to work, damn! Granted, it's unreasonable considering Genesect is more of a metallic cockroach than anything else... but I still find it cool.
Pokestar Studios opponents:

Pokestar Studios was a neat little side area that effectively acted as the Pokemon World's counterpart to Hollywood. It allowed you to be an actor in some of the movies they were making, with making a movie being a minigame in of itself.
Since it's fiction inside of fiction, they get to do some real wacky shit in the Pokestar Studio movies... like fighting a giant metal Tyranitar to a spoof of Ghostbusters and so on. It was one of the most addicting new features they introduced in the BW sequel games, to the point where I would boot up the game just to watch what crazy stuff I did the last time I was there.
These are really creative, but I secretly loathe how I could never get some of them for myself.

- See, the Mystery Doors of the Magical Land is a fantasy movie about a prince (male character) / princess (female character) being whisked away by an evil witch queen known as Belleba (played by Sabrina from Kanto). They are guided by a plush toy gatekeeper and learn to be strong enough to escape the phantom realm.
- Love the style of the movie and the monsters they had in there, though I am curious as to why the Black door is a Grass type instead of an Electric type. You know, for Zekrom. (The white Door is fire type - come on!)

- Then he snaps into that thing and starts malfunctioning. It is then your duty to shut him down after spending so much time trying to teach this F-00 to love. It is one of the most tragic ends to the movies and it's actually really effective.
- Poor little guy didn't deserve it.
- It's funny how a movie depicts a robot Pokemon created by humans four years before the introduction of Magearna. That would be such a cute couple, oh my god.

- This thing could definitely work as an Ultra Beast of some kind. Just envision it. It'll have a variation of Mummy and serves as the evil Ferrothorn of their universe.

- Ghost Eraser is a straight out spoof of the Ghostbusters franchise - your character is sent in to investigate a disturbance and comes across several possessed people with wonderful names like Caeleano and Arkham. They all lead up into the reveal of the Majin, a legendary demon from beyond that's supposed to unleash Armageddon.
- The Old Statue really gives me some Sigilyph vibes - considering it was brought up in the same region as Sigilyph, I'm tempted to say that an actual version of the Old Statue might exist somewhere else.
- Then we get to the big man themselves, the legend known as Majin. They're a big poofy cloud of darkness that's possessed a building... and is also a Dark/Ghost type with WONDER GUARD.
- You encounter them in the movie at level 99 too, so whoaaaaaaa. That is beyond intimidating and straight into brown pants territory. You have to keep in mind that Dark/Ghost didn't have a weakness before Gen 6 - there were no fairies to help you, so the only way you could hurt an actual counterpart to the Majin would be through status moves.
- They really went all out with this, jesus christ.

- Take everything cool about normal Tyranitar and turn them into giant robots. The Big Monster series is a spoof of Godzilla (fitting, considering that Tyranitar is the Godzilla of the Pokemon universe) - you are a UDF (Unova Defense Force) officer that is sent in to investigate a strange glowing light.
- It tells you that there's someone creating a machine for world domination (I don't quite remember), which results in you fighting a giant mechanical Tyranitar.
- When you scrap that one, the perp appears and is revealed to be this rich dude that created the MT models to, again, rule the world or something.
- The concept of giant mecha Tyranitar is amazing, made even better with the black and red Mk. II version that has Flash Fire to counteract being melted by Fire types.
- Imagine if a real Steel type (beyond Heatran) had Flash Fire. That'd be so rad.

- ... The screwed up thing about Timegate Traveler is that, depending on your actions, you could cause the bad future. It causes some weird paradox stuff where you going into the future brought back material that hyper-evolves Pokemon into their asshole sentience and thinking about it makes my brain hurt.
- It was still one of the best movies on the roster.

- Invaders is as straightforward as it gets - aliens invade the earth and the UDF goes to repel the invasion.
- The UFOs being based off of Cascoon makes me giggle and the Psychic/Electric typing catches my eye because that's the type Raichu eventually gets in Alola. It even has Levitate too.
- They have neat and imposing designs (because you have to imagine that if these things were to scale, they'd be like the size of skyscrapers), but the alien woman leading the invasion is the showstopper for me.
- She has a beautiful otherworldly appearance due to looking like she's made out of liquid metal and gives me serious Pheromosa vibes... which is amazing considering they're both extraterrestrial creatures. (Or extra-dimensional in Pheromosa's case)

It really is amusing to get a look into what people in the Pokemon universe would consider interesting fictional characters. I adore show-inside-of-a-show stuff, especially when the world outside is already fantastical in of itself. Real life has some pretty crazy creatures too if a lot of Pokemon origins are of any indication.
