Come to think of it, there really aren't that many monkey-types in pokemon, we've got what, the Aipom, Chimchar, and Mankey family?

Come on now. No offense or anything, but most people can tell the animal basis of a a poke (unless it doesn't have one).

how is lemur anywhere near sloth? they are closer to monkeys
but possum would be to close to ferret pokemon (sentret&furret)

Maybe it's the same phonetically, God and Goat aren't that far apart..
But kami (god in japanese) and yagi (goat) doesn't sound as similiar as the english ones.. It's rather confusing.

I would have to agree. But there is no Lion pokemon yet. Maybe Arcanine, but its more a Tiger I find .. or it could be a mix of Lion and Tiger. I dont know.

I would say that Raikou is a tiger and Entei is a lion anyways. I also think Luxray is supposed to resemble a lion, but it's hard to tell. XD

Cheetahs? Suicune looks like one, but I don't know what it is in actuality.

And Mamoswine is the closest thing you're probably getting to an elephant. XD

That's true. What about Phanpy and Donphan? They look more like elephants than Mamoswine, don't forget. ^_^

To me, Suicune kind of looks like a stylized wolf, but I can see where you can get how it looks like a cheetah.
