This seniority thing is crap, I'm sorry. You've got your Veteran Emblem... You people have blogs, colored profiles. Do you need more? You make it sound like people with 4 years at PC are somehow the better members by default. There are mods who earned their colored usernames and positions in months.
I sometimes appreciate a good new member more than just another old member who has had all those years to earn his recognition and didn't, just to give up in the end trying to get more privileges for free.
If you guys want your colored name, either start giving something, doing some good for this community instead of asking for more perks... Or move on to a different site.
You're assuming the wrong thing. I'm not for this idea because I feel senior to, or want to feel senior to anyone. I've already got a colored username myself anyway, and I'm content with the current color most of the time anyhow.
Most of you naysayers in this thread sound just like that too. I'm just suggesting this because it'd be a fun feature to have, and it'd soothe some of the supporters' clamoring for a color change every so often. As far as I'm concerned, it could be a supporter only perk.
I'm all for improvements and changes in supporter perks for one reason: It brings in new donations, and attracts new users. Already we have seen an uptick in supporters donations, and some even donate just for a new account!

"People are discriminating against me because of the color of my name!"
"I don't like this color, so we should change it!"
Then there'd be the argument about how it "puts members on different levels" and it'd just a big headache and a general waste of brainpower and time.
You've got somewhat of a point, but it's not a waste of brainpower nor time. You point out the fact that it's going to bring elitism to the table, but it's
BEEN HERE FOR A WHILE!
I could rant for hours on how many different little 'cliques' here are elitist, and even staff is guilty of a little elitism here and there. It wont cause a total meltdown.
I only suggested that it eventually be made available to regular members too, so they dont have to feel like they're being excluded. Besides, rules can be added to make things 'fair'. Personally, I think trolling should be infractable anyway
As for the usergroups angle, more usergroups wont harm a fly, and it wont break anything.
On the spam angle, it doesn't have to be a post requirement, Staff can moderate and decide who gets the privilege if needed. It would not hurt to make sure requests to join each group are moderated by a staff member.
As far as the emblem angle goes, the emblem system is useful, and cool. I'm not saying that it's not enough, I'm just trying to bring more to PC by supporting this idea.
I've been a supporter of any half decent idea myself for a while now. It's just the way I try to help around here, by hanging out in CQ&F and reading posts here, just to see what ideas may come by.
I will admit, this idea is tricky to implement fairly, but it's not as hard as you make it out to be. It bothers me when I see good ideas shot down by staff, and a lot of times, it feels like very little thought is being put into these ideas before they're rejected.
I'm not accusing anyone in staff of being lazy or anything, I know you all each work really hard, but I've always felt that progress is a lot better than resisting change.
